Great video idea and choices here, Ash! I would definitely buy a backup of Michael Kors for Men, Luna Rossa Carbon, any ADG fragrance, and Encre Noire L’extreme.
Well my 5 fragrances would be:
- Tom Ford Ombre Leather;
- YSL Y EDP;
- Azzaro Wanted by Night;
- A&G Profumo (i guess it is now)
- Dior Homme Intense.
What about Allure Homme Sport Extreme by Chanel
You can always just call the fragrance house. Basically all large conglomerate designers have a customer service line and they're happy to tell you what is discontinued or victim of supply chain issues. So that's at least one method you can use quick and easy without having to rely on rumors.
I’ve tried that and they seem to give the most vague and general answers. It like therr afraid to be up front about anything

Luna Rossa Extreme is phenomenal. I was lucky to get a backup before the price when thru the roof.

I do am worried about Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisée getting the X or already got it... at least in my part of Europe. The Guerlain Homme has popped up again in the same bottle as the Ideal line, but the L'Eau Boisée is nowhere to be found anymore, even not on Guerlain's own site. But I already got a back-up of that one.
Other fragrances I'd buy a back-up or 2 for if i'd get a hint of discontinuation would be:

- AdG Profumo... and already got 2, because I believe this one does has been discontinued.

@@frankzajac3158 he’s done two videos in the last few months or so. Discontinuations are rumors a majority of the time, so there’s no reason to give a “heads up” unless it’s to help move remaining stock and then drive up the prices on the grey market.
I'm still bitter about rive gauche.

Hi Ash, I just wanted to get your opinion on something. I just purchased a bottle of the Scent Private Accord on ebay. The bottle arrived and I checked the batch code and see it was created in June of 2018 making it almost 6 years old. Should this be what someone should expect when purchasing a bottle because it was discontinued a ways back? It does not smell quite right to me and the performance is terrible.
Is Prada Luna rossa sport being discontinued!? I know ulta and Sephora still carry but a lot of the discounters no longer have or the price has increased significantly
I bought a bottle of Elixer Green from CO Bigelow in 2010 for abt $20 for 2.5 FL , today it’s $90 an ounce .. I got about 4ml left . Lol just did a #sotd but sprayed light . Lol
Hey man, new to this world and was wondering, do fragrances go bad over time? Say a product was discontinued 10 years or more ago, will that fragrance still smell as new as the day you purchased it?
I would definitely go out and buy grey vetiver as well as beau du jour from Tom ford. I am lucky enough to have two bottlesof Tom ford grey vetiver edt. I also have back ups of Rive gauche. I wear both frequently. Im very big on having back ups. If I have something I like that I find a great deal on I make sure to get it and put it in a crate under my bed. I call it fore sight my girlfriend calls it hoarding. We’re both right. In my box I have back ups of my Rive gauche grey vetiver edt 1725 Casanova Boise du Portugal Acqua di parma original ysl tuxedo Gucci guilty absolute guerlain ideal cologne and extreme Roja vetiver cologne ysl tuxedo Prada amber pour homme Prada Lhomme intense adg Profumo. So basically anything I feel is noteworthy in the community that I find a great deal on I store away for later use or sale.

Wore Private Accord yesterday! I have 5oz bottles for Private Accord and Azzarro Wanted by Night for cheap compared to what they are asking for now. I also have two 100ml bottles of Midnight in Paris edt for cheap. That one I like to blend it with La Nuit edt.
Guys, you can get Azzaro Wanted By Night at Sam’s club right now for $35. Great buy! Of this list, I have ordered Hallo Man X, and ordering Luna Rossa Black now, as my wife loves it.

The sad thing about that is that most Sam's club's inventories are localized. So, while we had Azzaro Aanted By Night at my Sams last summer for $35, we no longer have it.

I have half a bottle of Luna Rosa Extreme I regret not buying the biggest bottle they had when I had the chance.
I stocked up on Prada L'Homme intense, YSL Bleu Electrique and TF Tabacco Oud, just to be on the safe side.
Would instantly stock up on a lot of others to be honest. In my collection of close to 80 scents there are a max of 15 I would be ok with them being discontinued without a panic attack.

Burberry Hero is fantastic! Very classy, masculine fragrance! The bergamot opening is sheer bliss and the triple cedar wood base with the juniper leaves in the heart notes ... Wow! 👍

It's a woody fragrance with a great citrus top (bergamot) with juniper leaves (similar to pine needles) and black pepper in the heart, with a triple cedar wood base (cedar wood from USA, Morocco, and the Himalayas). It's a very classy, masculine fragrance. Go check it out at your local department store. 👍

Hey Ash I know this is off topic but have you tried Issey Miyake Nuit Bois Artic? Interested in your opinion it was released last year but no one in the community has mentioned it.
Bought it off Jomashop towards the end of winter. Loved the way it smelled on a cooler night. Tried it again in warmer weather, and it smelled a little chalky. I'll dust it off again in a few months. Definitely a cooler weather nighttime fragrance.

I read recently that Luna Rossa Black was being discontinued. There are definitely rumours circulating so I'm already thinking of getting back up bottles. I agree with you about Extreme. Its fantastic - I just can't understand why they cut it from the line. Unfortunately I only got serious about fragrance after Midnight in Paris was long gone.
that's because it doesn't fit with what prada are trying to do, the whole luna rossa line kinda have that fresh or soapy iconic prada smell...then there's luna rossa black...dare I say the "black sheep" that just doesn't fit into the line and it's powdery and dark, not even that fresh it's almost leathery and powdery.
@@GrowingDownUnder Definitely. Such a shame though. I was fortunate to receive the Luna Rossa Extreme gift set as a Christmas present many years ago and then picked up a 50mls last year. I spotted it by chance- it sold out in minutes. I'm a big fan of the original and Carbon. Carbon is better for me than Sauvage - Sauvage sometimes gives me a headache.

@@Uncle_BW The contracted co-distributer through Walmart was Dewan Fragrances INC., and yes I can confirm the fragrance is authentic.
@@Uncle_BW Also, that's not correct. I am buying through Walmart, I hold no liability with that third party seller. Walmart gives them the right to sell through them but my transactions are completely through the parent company aka Walmart.

@@Uncle_BW Unfortunately it sounds like they were trying to give you the runaround. At the end of the day they have to give you a refund, although I'm sure that's not the most favorable option and can be a big pain.

Companies won't want to admit that a product they put out wasn't successful
...Even if they're mega successful like Acqua Di Gio Profumo, usually that's because the ingredients aren't financially viable to procure or something.
Over time Acqu Di Gio Profumo was not selling as well as when it first came out and sales associates and vendors for L’Oreal were showing everybody it. It’s not a best seller anymore
Video idea: hyped fragrances that actually sells well.. because most of the hyped frags are not selling at all. Noone buys light blue forever and dior homme intense for example. These are one of the least selling fragrances

I understand why Giorgio Armani would discontinue Profondo after they released ADG EDP. They smell very similar to my nose. It’s not worth buying the EDP if you already own Profondo IMO.
Bvlgari Aqua Atlantique has been discontinued so I'm going to purchase me another bottle and that'll give me two full bottles that should last me for the next 40 years with the other 150 plus bottles or so I have in my collection
I’m on the fence about that fragrance. I still have a bottle that’s like 7/8 full mainly because it smells like a salty Sauvage to me. Gotta wonder how many years a bottle would last in its box stored properly.

The Scent Private Accord is definitely getting discontinued (shame on you Hugo Boss) - Paco Rabanne 1 Million Lucky is also getting the chop at the end of the year.
I could be crazy but Prada LRB smells very similar to Polo Double Black but with better performance from the Prada over polo.

This is a question to all my frag homies: do newly bought fragrances need some time to mature to resemble the scent of the testers ?
I recently bought “Oud for greatness” from a trusted store and after spraying it once on my wrist I noticed the scent was way bitter than the scent in the tester bottle.
Always a possibility that there is slight differences between batches. I know thats common with creeds aventus. Variations from batch to batch. Some are more fruity than others. But to directly answer your question i have no idea if the scents have to mature. It could of also been due to different storing conditions before you received either of them.
Some people talk about a maceration process with some perfumes. I'm not sure how much is the juice itself, and how much the nose/brain. If perfumes can go 'off' which they do, or be affected by humidity, which they appear to be, I don't see why the scent profiles would always necessarily stay the same.
I mean, they do put preservatives and whatnot, but clearly they are not perfect.
@@mattsmith1440I belive Manceration is real, back in February of 2021 I bought the 200ML of CDNIM and it was soo off-putting at first spray thinking the hype around it was lies .... I let it sit for 3-4 weeks after spraying about 10-15 sprays to let some air in the bottle and it completely changed🤯

It is a thing that happens. I have 3 bottles of Dior Homme Parfum ( not new version) and they all smell slightly different. Strongest of them is the oldest. Don’t think everything matures though, all depends on notes. Anything with Oud will certainly change over time so a bottle that’s been sitting in a store as a tester for some time will smell different from a brand new bottle 👍🏻

That's interesting, and I appreciate your and Shaun's input. Thinking about it, some essential oils (like patchouli and vetiver) do tend to improve with age, as was mentioned with oud.

First I bought halloween man X for $35. I liked and wanted more they went to $55. I found seller selling for $33 and bought 3 more bottles.
How sure are we that Prada L'Homme Instense is discontinued? I just bought 150 ml for 100 EUR and major EU retailers have it in stock. I have heard that they have moved manifacturing from PUIG Spain to L'Oréal France. Might be a sourcing issue.

Yeah I don't think it's discontinued , you can easily find it in Germany , just like you wrote the new ones are made in France from L'Oréal , not sure if it's reformulated though , I haven't tested them 🤷🏻♂️

Guerlain rebranding is horrible by going with the all square bottles. Just makes things more confusing and less creative. I understand it's cost effective to use the same bottles. But with all these flashy designers out that people enjoy guerlain may be swept under the rug except for its cult following. Also why would they discontinue Lhomme Ideal EDP it seems to be very popular in and

I had Midnight in Paris and bought it around december 2015 as the latest bottles started to disappear from stores. It's still dearly missed.
How close is that to Luna Rossa Black? A lot of fragrantica people compare the two...
@@jadizm I honestly dont remember but not super similar in my opinion, or at least when I smell Luna Rossa Black it doesnt really give me a memory of Midnight in Paris
