Back in late 80s my mate told me about the time he went with his Dad's mates to a bothy they helped restore around Loch Lyon. It's a big bothy with 2 bedrooms upstairs, no carpets just wooden floors. He was downstairs in the living room area putting wood in the stove when he heard someone coming down the stairs in boots, it's walled so you can't see who it is until they reach the bottom. As the footsteps reached the bottom he happened to look outside and see his Dad's mates all down by the Loch edge, he bolted out the door absolutely crapping himself. There was nobody else in the bothy, they checked it over. He lives in South Africa now and still talks about it.
Hold on. He talks about what exactly? You’ve no mentioned what he saw. Was it his uncle John dressed up in his maws fancies 🏳️🌈 Was it a dwarf wae 9 foreheads? Was it Ron Jeremy with no lube? Will we ever know what he saw? You say he still talks about it. If he talks about it, why don’t we know what it is?
WELL i could tell you dozens of spooky encounters in old buildings I've worked in. Mostly Scotland. Some of it is unbelievable. The tv documentaries about spooky activity makes me laugh and switch it off. First hand experience is the best. I've just got so used to it. It dosent bother me now. 😔👍
This just came up in my recommended mate. It was great meeting you at the bothy. I've never seen a man hike as fast as you on the way back. Looking forward to seeing the future adventures.
The morning view of the clouds rolling over the hillside into the water was heavenly! It’s like something out of a fantasy. Scotland is a magical place
Spent two nights on my own in Ben Alder cottage .I heard scuttling and scraping which I put down to mice behind and below the wood panelling. What did freak the bejasus out of me was the uncurtained window. It was a bright clear mid spring night .Ended up sitting a chair with my waterproof jacket on it on a table in front of it so I wouldn't see the muckle Bogle Man staring in at me.
Enjoy the beauty of nature. I love camping and hiking outdoors. The air is so fresh and clean. The peace and quiet. No people. No cars. No noise. Just birds singing and wind blowing the leaves.
This is one thing I've learned over the years: enjoy life as it comes, and try to live in the moment. The past is over, done, you cannot change it so leave it be. The future is yet to happen and generally everything will be OK. The present is now, enjoy it for what it is.
Gasp, the views and those clouds rolling over the loch, breathtaking!! Only imagine ancient folk coming down the mountains and walking through the glens!! Oh, the Bothy is beautiful and very cozy. Enjoy these adventures, can't wait for the next!!😄
Hiking and camping are very popular activities especially if the weather is nice. It's going to be crowded with people. All the city people want to see nature. The trees. The birds. The flowers. The fresh clean air.
How could you let us down? We watch from the US and just enjoy your calm demeanor and stunning videography. The morning views of the loch could’ve never been captured from the bothy, Keep filming exactly as you are, and we’ll keep watching!
We call those winds that blow the cloud/fog over the hills like that "Barber" winds in New Zealand, and they cut right through you with the cold, as you probably know from your ventures. Another great video Gregor, keep them coming
Mr. Summiter, I think this is your best cinematography. I loved your reflection in the puddle, the super speed cloud footage, the waving grass, the distance shots of the fire over laid with spooky music. You are really experimenting with new film techniques. Look for class to help you on your way or RUclips. Great job! 👍👏 P.S. Thank goodness they put the new handicap latch on the front door for the ghost 👻.
Would much rather have been outside with you than inside for the night.. Because they missed everything.. those foggy clouds moving over the mountain and melting before the sun was truly epic!! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video.. gives us a true sense of Cianalas.. as we are lonely transplanted Scottish folk missing home😭😭💔💔 Slan mo charaid, lad🌱 William and Jen 💜💙🌱🌹
OMG, that morning shot of the fog on the lake is amazing. I wouldn't worry too much about not getting a slot in the Bothy. I think folks know they're first-come/first-served, and you can't reserve it. It is what it is. That's real life.
You have never let anyone down you are such a nice young guy ... shame you never got in the bothy but always next time .. stay safe and i love your videos by the way i am Scottish ma self so love seeing it all x
Oh my gosh I've never seen anything like that...the clouds coming down and over the water how amazing. Just found your channel....I'm an Aussie, but my ancestors are from Kent, London and Scotland and Ireland. I would so love to go to Scotland, I love the accent and the country looks so beautiful. I love our hot Aussie weather and hate the cold, but it would be worth it to come to Scotland. Thanks for your beautiful images....xx
September 19, 2024 Maryland, USA: New to your channel and love the views that you are sharing. Wish you could have stayed in the bothy. I have seen many of them on other channels and so amaazing that bothy’s exist for hikers. There is a love for the land in Europe that extend to trails for hikers that is amazing. What a treasurer. There is also respect by those who use it. Safe journey home. Till we meet again. Love that bridge!
That was another inspiring video once again, thanks Gregor. If you had experienced anything supernatural, you'd probably never have been the same again!
What a great timing lol I just opened YouTub and got your notification! Also this one seems different with a spooky feel to it from the title ahaha. Gonna enjoy it and I am sure its going to amazing and fun as always. Thanks for the regular uploads mate
Great video Gregor. The rolling clouds down the mountain were amazing! Pity you did not get the chance to see the ''Haunting Haggis''!! Next time maybe? Cheers, John.
What an adventure, what an experience, what great weather, what beautiful scenery & what an absolute treat Gregor. Although you were disappointed at not being able to stay in the bothy, if you had, you probably wouldn’t have witnessed those spectacular rolling clouds. For me personally that was epic and far better than trying to sleep 😴 in a full bothy full of weird and wonderful spooky noises (and thats just from the others staying there!)😂. Really enjoyable. Thank you. 🤩
Hmm! Don't think we've not noticed Gregor. Fri 13th and you upload haunted bothy video lol. Haunted or not I must say it's a nice bothy and the scenery is simply breath taking. You need to start eating well young man. A sandwich for dinner and a choco bar for breakfast, A right big bowl of stovies is what you need lol. Once again my friend a very enjoyable video. Can't wait to see where we end up next.
No apologies needed . You got to the Bothy and got the camera inside to give us a look. Stunning scenery and sunrise - great video, keep them coming please
Definitely cool to see the other half of what I refer to as the appalachian mountains across the pond over in Scotland. Looks very similar to the ones here in North Carolina.
Just checking out the Appalachians on Google and I see what you mean, but yours seem to be still heavily wooded. I bet the Scottish highlands were stripped before the US was even a thing.
Good video and dood to see the bothy in good condition. It turns out that most of the stories about it being haunted were made up by the local keeper back in the early/mid 20th century. However, I sayed there a few nights in the early 90s, on a canoe trip with my father. We slept on the floor in the room on the left, there was no bunk bed then. No stove either, just an open fire. I never saw or heard anything, but was woken up by the fear my father expressed in the middle of the night - he swore that he was woken by an old woman standing over him - which totally freaked him out. Who knows, it could have been a dream, but he was genuinely freaked out by it.
A bothy is never full. Yes you can choose to camp outside if its busy, but I've seen half a dozen sleeping mats in each of those rooms before. I hope the others didn't say there wasn't room for you, because that's not the spirit of the bothies. There's always room for one more.
Maybe your best yet, thank you. You have such an eye for awesome shots. A couple of amusing ´Blair Witch’ moments near the beginning. Who needs the BBC when quality stuff like this is available?
That is some breath taking scenery! I love Scotland and wish I could have visited before I got to old. One of my grandfathers apparently had some Scottish heritage.
A very scenic place which I enjoyed very much. I suppose you didn’t expect people to be out there in such an isolated spot, especially as the bothy has a reputation of being haunted. A very good point made about the necessity to have a backup plan. Extra snacks are a good idea too.
I watch travel vlogs often and to date i’ve seen 3 different ones all of which visited this bothy and all with unexplained going’s on. Knocking on the doors during the night, disembodied voices and footsteps, doors opening and closing on their own, the fire wood saws on the wall being moved and the kettle being found in various places and a chair shaking before shifting across the room. A ghost, who knows but there’s definitely something not quite right with this place. I’d love to spend a night there but never solo! It sleeps 8-9 more if people are happy to sleep on the floor.
those clouds coming down off the mountain was awesome, now if that had been happening in the evening it would have been scary LOL.. almost like a fog bank moving in bringing in the spirits to mess with everyone.
You have a wicked eye for the lens. Each of your shots are set up perfectly. Plus you match it with a perfect storyline. It puts me in the backcoutry, which I miss. Keep it up.
I'm not sure that ghosts do big crowds, Gregor. They're maybe more likely to appear when there's just two or three of you, when there's an unoccupied room that they can be make to feel much colder than the others, and sound occupied even when it's not! I gather that wee flasks of whisky help restore the warmth and so facilitate better sleep...! But it's on a busy route, that one - and relatively easy to access from the A9 - Network Rail notwithstanding. Abysinnia Bothy is also said to be haunted, if that one's too far off...!
Lol the old keeper retired, to a home in Dalwhinnie area,no one has died there, it's all big tails. Bridge built by the Scouts. Nice vid mate, lovely views. Nice inverted clouds.
I like my stargazing and if you sleep in a bothy or similar structure you miss the stars overhead.Sleeping outside you miss the ghosts but get the UFO's!
Hi Gregor. Wow what a stunning morning you woke up to. Seeing that while all the others were still as sleep. That’s why we go wild camping. Brilliant video as always mate. 😃⛰🥾🏴🏕️
The weather has been beautiful for walking for a couple of weeks now, we have another 5 days of this weather predicted where I live. Making the most of it!
Sorry to take away a good horror story but i worked as a Deer Ghillie on Ben Alder Estate and the story goes that Deer Stalker called McCook hung himself in the place and haunts it.... this is not true because McCook actually passed away in a care home - spent many nights in the place before and there are no ghosts. If you want a haunted bothy then go to Duror Bothy! Great video footage oof the beautiful landscape!
I got the train from Fort William out to Corrour Halt. Walked in past the billionaires multi million designer shooting lodge , which I wanted to see with my own eyes , Folks ,this is the middle of nowhere 10-14 miles from the nearest tarmac road I think. The weather was bright ,clear , and still , so pleasant during the day , cold at night. Both mornings I was up and out early enough to witness the nights light frost being swept away as the sun rose over the hill east side of Loch Ericht. Ben Alder is not so much a peak or ridge but a flat meadow like plateau over 3000feet . .Cairngorms are visible to the north and Ben Nevis to south south west. The corries, Garbh Choire and Garbh Coire Beag on the northern side of Ben Alder are in my top five corries.
The title of the video, while accurate, can be easily misconstrued to give viewers expectations of paranormal encounters. So, it's a bit of a clever click bait to be fair.
Stayed in it twice, first time about 15 years ago with friends. Noting unusual. But two years ago I stayed there with one of the original friends and my son. I was in the bottom bunk in the middle room and was disturbed by loud scratching in the night. My son had a much worse night in the right hand room with a definite demonic presence. My friend in the left hand room slept through the night undisturbed. I have no doubt that supernatural entities frequent this bothy; I've a long history of experiencing occult phenomena.
A daughter and her father used to live there in the 1800’s.The father became seriously ill one winter. The daughter walked all the way to the nearest town in the snow and brought the doctor back to her father saving his life.
You didn’t let the viewers down. Your video was brilliant. Well done you and thank you for taking us along. 👍👏😁
No worries at all, glad you enjoyed the video😊

Awesome view of the morning fog rolling off of the hills. Great video chap.
It’s NOT haunted, the stories are just that… stayed there plenty times, only thing goes bump in the night are the mice eating your food.
Of course its not haunted, but "stayed in bothy with mice" isn't the same clickbait material lol
Could b Ghost mice 🥶
Perhaps you're too thick skinned to notice anything.
@kevingray5646. Only a ghost would say that.

Good one George keep it up
Great video 🎉
Nice video thanks.
A daughter and her father used to live there in the 1800’s.The father became seriously ill one winter. The daughter walked all the way to the nearest town in the snow and brought the doctor back to her father saving his life.
I figured you "couldn't" stay in there because it's haunted. That would be my main reason to not sleep there.
Stunning!
