I watched half a dozen videos about squeaky windows yet no one actually had squeaky windows lol. It's nice to see the before and after. All of those videos mentioned using a dry silicone spray which you can get at any home center.
The one thing I don't like about the M3 is how 'weak' the electric windows feel, like they're always struggling. I'll jump in my '09 Mondeo afterwards and the windows are so satisfyingly powerful and solid, with a lovely clunk at the end of travel. Hopefully they'll fix it in the next gen!
That’s an amazing transformation. Lovely when a simple cheap fix does the job. We’ve not had the squeak yet, but my wife kept a bottle of WURTH Rubber Fit that came with the camper van (which we sold because it was diesel - full eco warriors), and smears it on about once a year, just because. It was intended initially to stop the Ryhno roof sticking on the camper resulting in a potential seal peel when opening.

Perfect timing. Mines been squeaking too and this afternoon I was thinking maybe I should report it as a potential issue. Will grab me some gumi paste instead 👍🤞
Good tip. My windows are tinted and the sound happens everytime I hit a bump. The edge of the tint film rubbs against the same rubber that you pointed out. Conditioning the rubber is the only solution.

Didn't work for me. Since it's also squeaking when the door was opened, I figured the source must be somewhere else. And I found it to be the place where the edge of the window enters the door. There's a rubber coat that vibrates. So I applied some Synco Lube only on the outer edge of the glass and it holds for about a year.

I felt exactly the same as you. It's the fact that Teslas are so popular that the little problems are so public but truthfully some legacy companies have made cars with far more or far serious issues that don't get as much publicity. Truthfully, if you like Tesla model 3s, drive one, maybe rent one for a few days even, you might see why so many are willing to forgive the little problems for all the good stuff the car delivers. I've had issues with mine, 9 months in I've no regrets about the fact I spent 10 times the amount of money on this than I ever have on any car I've ever bought.
Because every car has something annoying. From bmw to Mercedes to American brands and even Japanese. They all have annoying quirks that you eventually find after living with the car for a few weeks something always shows it’s ugly head.
Hi Mark, great videos, thank you. I used to work in the motor trade for 30 years and we always used spray silicon to cure this problem. It is a lot cheaper and I would guess that’s all this product basically is. Regards, Peter
As it contains solvent it could seep under the vinyl , so it would be best to just spray the window channels keeping the spay away from the windows themselves.
No it isn’t. That’s the great thing about this product - it is NOT silicone and keeps everything soft and smooth without allowing more dirt to stick to the seals.
Hey Nigel, yes mine seemed to work for 4 weeks or so then came back, it seems the sqeak also comes from inside the window, so I got some WD40 silicone spray and sprayed a little inside the window... not sure if its the right thing to do, sorted it a little, but it's very annoying!
Hi, unfortunately for me this product hasn't had any effect at all, even after two applications. A shame as I really hoped it would cure the problem. I might try a different, silicone-based solution.
Hey Dave, what I found is it’s best to put some on the inside and outside of the window near where the door opens and let it go up and down this wall but a little bit on the inside of the door to and I found that mainly sort the issue out
Sadly this doesn't work, well not on my Model 3 anyway. The issue isn't with the seal around the door apertures, it's with the seal that the rear edge of the window glides up and down against. Lube this (WD40, GT85 etc) and it'll be fine for a while but will need doing again quite frequently. It drives me mad. Otherwise I love my car.
@@MBrown I'm going to try some lubrication silicone, the thicker stuff, and see if that will last longer. Gummi pflege is always a good idea for seals regardless 👍🏻
@@MBrown it's one of those pretty issues, however if many owners are reporting it it should be really addresse, and Tesla should deal with it, isnt it? I'm picking my M3 LR next Saturday 😎 can't wait, end week later trip to Scotland !!!
Hey Clive I’ve never had this in any car I’ve owned so was quite surprised mine was so bad on a brand new car. It’s seems to be a common Tesla issue, loads of people reporting it on the groups.
Doesn't make any sense - the squeak wasn't coming from the window frame its coming from the housing/area that the window retracts into, AS the window goes up or down. You cleaning the window before hand was what stopped the squeak.
Hey Andrew the squeak was coming from the housing and when it rubs against the rubber seal of the window (as it’s so dry) So I’ve found on some windows the seal was the issue on some it’s almost inside the door… poor sealing throughout 😂
As soon as you start rolling down the window i died laughing saying "yup, thats my car" thanks for the vid!

Hi, unfortunately for me this product hasn't had any effect at all, even after two applications. A shame as I really hoped it would cure the problem. I might try a different, silicone-based solution.
Hey Dave, what I found is it’s best to put some on the inside and outside of the window near where the door opens and let it go up and down this wall but a little bit on the inside of the door to and I found that mainly sort the issue out
@@MBrown Hi, I applied it all around the door seal, especially where the glass touches, not quite picturing what you’re describing.
Lithium grease spray works as well.
Great tip!
2023 Model 3, same issue. I’ve brought to the service center 3-4 times and they “fix it” and it comes back the same day. Will try this. So annoying.
Damn sorry to hear that
Sadly this doesn't work, well not on my Model 3 anyway. The issue isn't with the seal around the door apertures, it's with the seal that the rear edge of the window glides up and down against. Lube this (WD40, GT85 etc) and it'll be fine for a while but will need doing again quite frequently. It drives me mad. Otherwise I love my car.
Yes, mine only seems to work that about 3 to 4 months and then I have to do it all again a bit of a shame so I’m looking for something long-term
@@MBrown I'm going to try some lubrication silicone, the thicker stuff, and see if that will last longer. Gummi pflege is always a good idea for seals regardless 👍🏻
Instant use will leave marks on your window just leave it for a while to absorb.
yeah best to let them dry out a little
I only get the squeak when the windows are wet
Yeah I have to add this quite often, seems to come back
Mine squeeks like a Persian cat. Thanks Mark!
Hey Deen, that’s great haha glad this helps
Only happens to me when the windows are wet and in certain temperatures.
Hey Ricky, mine started like that but now does it all the time
What about Tesla service ?!?! What was the excuse to sort this out under warranty??
Hey Albin I didn’t report this to Tesla, just thought I’d try and sort it myself
@@MBrown it's one of those pretty issues, however if many owners are reporting it it should be really addresse, and Tesla should deal with it, isnt it? I do understand your point, sometimes its just easier to sort things by self,-less hassle, much faster and satisfying ;). Thanks for good tip and great video again. I'm picking my M3 LR next Saturday 😎 can't wait, end week later trip to Scotland !!!
I used to have this issue on my BMW’s I’ve owned. BMW even do a can of the stuff that you can buy.
Nothing new about squeaking windows or door seals.
Hey Clive I’ve never had this in any car I’ve owned so was quite surprised mine was so bad on a brand new car.
It’s seems to be a common Tesla issue, loads of people reporting it on the groups.
@@MBrown You can buy it at the spares dept at your BMW dealer. :)
@Clive Flint Thanks Clive
What can I buy to make my Tesla model 3: to stop squeezing and shrinking. When the windows go down.
Shrieking
Shrieking
Yes this helps, but it does come back
I asked a friend how she had linked the whoopee cushion fart sound to her windows when I first heard this.
Doesn't make any sense - the squeak wasn't coming from the window frame its coming from the housing/area that the window retracts into, AS the window goes up or down. You cleaning the window before hand was what stopped the squeak.
Hey Andrew the squeak was coming from the housing and when it rubs against the rubber seal of the window (as it’s so dry)
So I’ve found on some windows the seal was the issue on some it’s almost inside the door… poor sealing throughout 😂
Last for like two days?
Hey the WD40 in the link has really helped.
Does anyone know if this is safe to do with tinted windows?
Hey yeah this should be safe, as it only goes on the silicone and dries into it
@@MBrown Thank you!
So what stopped the squeak when the window was going up and down? You never did answer that.
Hey so it's the liquid in the video.
THXXX
You're welcome!
I used this on my 6 series after watching this and so far we have a silent uprising. It used to sound like a rats tea party..great tip
Haha thanks
I did the exact same thing today , it didnt fix it. :(
Hey Jonas it fixed mine for about a month but it is coming back. I’ve got some WD-40 to spray inside the window to see if that fixes it
AHAHAHAH at 1:02 theres my post on facebook. Im Ricardo Sanchez
Haha, welcome to the channel Ricardo! Nice cameo!
You need to pop down to Amazon and get some microfibre cloth.
Yeah they definitely help!
Pop down to Amazon..?
Mine does it with the door open still 😅
£50k car, and all the faults. Serious build problems. I’m not going to buy. Kia or Lexus for me
Hey Michael yes Tesla do need to fix these little issues, luckily nothing serious has happened since owning mine
Major mechanical issues with Kia’s. Major. Good luck and have fun 😂
Kia!? Hahahahaah 😂
I literally cringe every time I lower my window to show my ID...
Oh you need this then! get it back to new condition!
Silent but smudged windows from the product
Anyone else’s brakes squeaking?
Mines not yet, but the windows are squeaking again
@@MBrown yeah my windows squeak too might text Tesla and see what they say
Not at all.. weird.
I find it ridiculous and funny that one needs to do this on a premium 50k car.
Yeah it is crazy... what's worse its' its just come back! aahhhhhhhhhh
Squeaky bum or squeaky windows I don’t know what’s worst. 😂
