Nice tutorial and nice knives! I didn't know the whole knives with handle materials on could be acid stonewashed like that... I learned something, thanks a lot!
@forgeworks3176 How would you proceed if you wanted to use a handle material that cannot be put into ferric chloride but still wanted the stonewash finish even on the edge of the full tang? Thanks in advance! Sebastien
You can cover the wood with nails polish which is a bit time consuming. If you use carob steel you can just use some quick gun blueing and wipe over the tang after you are finished and that gives you the full black tang aswell
Thanks for the video. Do you grind or sharpen at the the recurves differently? It seems you just grind as if there is no recurve. I have a lot of trouble with recurves, making and sharpening.
Kind off recurves can be tricky. I put more pressure on the side where the handle is. So where the recurve part is i grind on the corner on the plattern so i don’t get belt bits on the otherside.
If you are going for 63~65 HRC hardness with Magnacut, your tempering temperature is 150 C. You can easily exceed that grinding the bloody thing. It wouldn't matter for practical purposes for the tang and the spine, but it might on the edge. LOL... at least it's not ZDP189 or Cowry where the stupid tempering is done in boiling water (100 deg C).
Nice Job! a shame we are not living close by. I could show you some tricks for handle work on the grinder. KnifeMaker/ Retired after 47+ Years in th eShop.
@@forgeworks3176 What do ya think of the Magnacut? Tru Grit and a few others sell 2x72" naked polly belts. Used on your contact wheel and loaded with pure green chrome compound it will surpass the leather on the tormac. And a lot easier to maintain. ;
Beautiful knives. Well made and interesting video.
thanks mate really appreciate it💪
That large camper is absolutely cherry! Well done!
thanks mate. I have a video upcoming where you may see alot more off them

thanks mate. Yeah it does work. But only with G10 and that kind of stuff. Wood is different. And most importantly a good glue up.

for the bigger knives i went for around 61-62 HRC. You gotta be really carefully while grinding for sure.
