In my opinion Sepultura is THE best heavy metal band in the world right now and Eloy Casagrande is THE #1 drummer. His playing is extremely technical, physical, powerful, explosive and dynamic. Andreas Kisser is an exceptional guitarist and his work on Quadra is probably his best work so far. Paulo Jr. is an old school bassist who just seem to get better and better. Derrick Green is in his top vocal form now and has proved persistence is key to success. The Brazilian band have made their name in creativity and Quadra is no exception, this time with symphonics, a better production and a bigger sound than ever. These four guys deserve all the respect for keeping and improving the Cavalera legacy. RESPECT!
Sorry but this is from Igor Cavalera. I stoped listening Sepultura when Max and then Igor quit the band. This for me is not Sepultura. And Marcos Menescal everybody have his own best band. For me is Kreator best metal band of all time.

It´s sad to see them on stage now while Sepultura is full of energy and making new things. Quadra is one of their best albums and doubt the Max brothers will re-birth like Sepultura did.

The craziest thing to me is that when he was younger he used to be some kind of "prog music" drummer, very technical, and then he became this relentless beast in Sepultura. Of course, still very technical too but beating the sh*t out of his cymbals
His foundation is in brazilian music (groovy rythyms) and his former coach was Aquiles Priester...that's why people has this prog feeling, altough I do not consider Angra a prog music, but definetely there are Priester's skills in Eloys style. The swivel techinique on double bass is a clear example....
If you pay attention to his left hand one of the fingers is immobilized because he almost lost its movements in rimshot a few shows before. It is the very first presentation after that but it has caused injuries that make him stay away for a while again
I'd like to add another candidate to your list of potential reaction drummers. Sebastian Lanser. I think for whatever reason this extremely talented, versatile drummer gets overlooked. He is creative, technically brilliant and when in his heavy metal mode just downright impressive. I did a large search through his online material to find a song that highlights his skills as a metal drummer and which also have the requisite audio/video quality to be suitable for your broadcast. Heres what I came up with: Meinl Cymbals - Sebastian Lanser - Obscura “Anticosmic Overload“. I think it's great hope you'll consider it.

If you want to do songs this old (this is from their 1991 album Arise) then please check out the original studio versions or live versions from that time period. Eloy is not the original drummer of this song, Igor Cavalera (founder of Sepultura) is. I suggest Inner Self, Arise or Dead Embryonic Cells.

In my opinion Eloy of course is a beast but It's skill legacy is to overplay with middlebeat cymbal sweeteners. I like and do respect Eloy but Imo Igor had the unique taste of dark and raw death/thrash/sepultura metal.

It takes quite a bit of technique to beat the shit out of your gear like Eloy does and not destroy anything. Guy is insane.

Igor was never this technical. He was a bit sloppier too. But back in those days, it was ok. I still prefer the old Sepultura but I do like Eloy.
