    Colt....45! 🍺
I'm gonna try that mineral oil thing on myself and see if my knees make less noise when I'm getting up off the ground. 😂😂😂

Now this is where RUclips shines. You post a video of proper equipment maintenance, and show how that little bit of mineral oil solved the noise issue after a wet recovery. Fieldpiece should thank you, because people who see this will not bother their customer service with unwarranted returns on “faulty” equipment, but just do what Dave did. The ones that don’t read their manuals, anyway. FP should link this video on their site for proper MR45 maintenance. Way to go, Dave!

I don't understand your reasoning for not running the screen. What if you happened to get a bad filter dryer, and sent desiccant into your really nice pump. It seems like cheap insurance for a possible catastrophe. What's your reason for removing it?

I don’t like the idea of using mineral oil when is used mostly on synthetic oil systems.

Hey Dave: My Appion G1 and G5 like a spoon-full of medicine once or twice a year. I use the same Parker Hannifin POE oil I use in a lot of Copeland compressors. I figure if it's the same oil used in the machines I'm recovering out of... Oh, and I change the filter drier twice a year and immediately after a burn-out or water contaminated job. Great video bro..

@Timothy Salomon The guy who serviced my old Promax machine told me to change the filter drier every 50-hours of run time. At the time that was about every six month for me. So, I just started changing it twice a year; beginning of the season and then half way through. I must be doing something right now because my first machines (a Robinair and then a Promax) were worn out in less than about five years each. I didn't use a filter drier on them, just the screens. It was after I had the Promax serviced for the third time (or maybe the service guy was just tired of my bitching) that he put me onto running a filter drier and doing the oil treatments. So, when the motor burned out of the Promax (very shortly after that last service) I started using the filter driers on my new Appion G1 from day-1. Then I did the same when I got the G5. Since both of these machines are still running like new, with quite a few more hours on them than either the Robinair or Promax ever managed, I think running a filter drier is the primary reason why they're still going strong. I did notice, however, that there is no excuse for not doing that now. The booklet that came with my G1 recommends running a filter drier and the occasional treatment with oil. The price of driers isn't bad if you get yourself some NOS stuff on sale. I bought a box of ten Sporlan Catch-All C-032 size for less than $100 when my local supply house was switching over to all Danfoss. Just watch for sales... they're out there.

Liking my 45 for recovery vapor only. I discovered on first day the 45 really does not like liquid. My old recovery machine like liquid with no problem super fast recovery when you could pull liquid. But the 45 is faster than everybody else recovery machine when pulling vapor comparing apples to apples.

Pretty complicated little machines haha. On hinge kits and what not what book or manufacturer do you use? I remember it in one of your videos but can't find the video.

Good vid. i have not read the manual on that unit , but u might be doing more harm than good with a drier on that inlet. ive never run a filter drier on any recovery machine ive owned and never had a problem. im thinking u might be removing the refrigerant oil that naturally travels when recovering. with the drier the natural oils in the refrigerant might be removed with the drier drying the refrigerant too much reducing its lubricating quality for the mr 45. does fieldpiece say putting a drier on inlet side is approved ?

The thing is most modern recovery machines are designed to run oil free. So, my take is that this maintenance step is to "wet" the rubber components and keep them from deteriorating. Also if you think about it, if a filter dryer removes oil it would also harm the compressor on the refrigeration system.
