I have been a huge fan of feildpiece for years..countless smans meters, i have the wireless probe set that is used for measure quick. I have a Refco pump that i purchased as a need and hve not had the opportunity to buy the v55 or v85. My guys come to me for advice as far as puchases. We use oversied vacuum hoses and micrometers etc. When my employe asked about a pump natuarllly based on my history with feildpiece i said try the v55 and hose tech purchased from TRU-Tech. Unfortunaley today my lead came in with a pump that is not perfroming. he has cjange the oil frequently . We stock oil here at shop and i have them change oil every 3 to 4 jobs. We went to check warranty and it only comes with 0ne year. We are out of warranty. Reapir is 225.00 with out even diagnostics. My refco is 4 years olld going strong at less than half the price. Im not endorsing Refco my ppoint is that Feildpiece should include a better warranty for the cost . Comment from technician" Ill never buy Fieldpiece agian" working class do not have the luxury of spending that kind of money evey year and a half. Disappointed
Watch Jim Bergmann's videos on this pump if you want to see what it actually does. This guy has a 1/4" hose connected to it. It could be a 100 CFM pump and would still be slow hooked up that way.
No it will not hurt. The specific circumstances the FP oil is great for is cold startups. Other oils might be too thick to start in cold weather. So just be aware of that. In any case you should always be aware of cold weather (i'm talking anything below 32 F) and monitor your pump that it starts. If its too cold you can damage any pump over time.
I buy Fieldpiece everything, but the VP85 is one of my biggest regrets. I have an old Robinair 6 cfm that belongs to the company I work for, and it out performs the VP85 by far. I am not impressed, and am hesitant on any future Fieldpiece purchases. I have an SMAN 360, Fieldpiece Recovery Machine, Micrometer, Probe Set, Anemometer, Psychrometer, Dual Psychrometer, Manometer, Manometer with the pressure switch tester, and Multimeter. I love all of it, except for the VP85. If you're gonna spend that much on a vacuum pump, get the Appion, unless Fieldpiece wants to start standing behind their VP85, and making customers, who quite frankly can't afford to pay for repairs on something that should perform without issues for more than a year, and with minimal use at that. I think anyone who isn't happy with their VP85 should be able to trade it in for the newer model, free of charge. Seeing how we're the people who keep them in business. Again, I am happy with all my other Fieldpiece products, but they completely failed on the VP85 in my opinion. And to anyone who is happy now, come back in 6 months, and see if you're still happy. If you are, then maybe I just got a lemon. Again, it works, but really struggles to pull a vacuum at times. And when it's struggling, I can replace it with an old Robinair 6 cfm pump, and it'll pull right down. Do better Fieldpiece.
I just sold my 1st one of these and literally the guy just took it out of the Box plug it in and filled it full of oil went to turn it on and it will not start up am I missing something?
Its misting. Means that there is a leak in your system so that the oil is inconsistently blowing by the exhaust valve. I work on vacuum pumps for a living. Many different kinds
that thing is PULLING SO SLOOOOOW....HOLY FUCK...I BET THATS A FRESH ASS TANK TOO...THATS A BADASS DESIGN AND CONCEPT...BUT FOR REAL??? SHIT MAN...MY CRAPPY 3 CFM ROBINAR WOULD OF PULLED THAT TANK DOWN IN 40 SECONDS...THAT THING BARLEY EVEN HIT 2000 ....terrible testing video if you actually are a tech and know the equipment....seriously though...I love FIELDPIECE..but a jb 5 CFM would Dominate this thing...the appion would DESTROY IT!!!! HOPE TO SEE SOME SIDE BY SIDES SOON....ID LOVE TO OUT THIA THING TO A REAL TECH TEST

Man, I love the feildpeice stuff but it's so expensive here in the uk 😩😩
Looks like a nice vacuum pump. You did not mention the different ports on the side to hook up the hoses.

I know you guys want us to use your oil but if in a bind will it hurt if we use black gold or any other vacuum pump oil?

@Fieldpiece Instruments I called, and nobody answered, so I left a message a few weeks ago, and have yet to hear back from anyone.
Why doesn't the blue light work on mine?
Better bring your extension cord 😉
My prayers answered again. U guys rock.
Can you use this pump with a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer?
I just sold my 1st one of these and literally the guy just took it out of the Box plug it in and filled it full of oil went to turn it on and it will not start up am I missing something?
Did u check the outlet for 120v?
Why does mine leak oil from where the exhaust cap screws in, while its running?

Will it take any kind of vacuum oil ?
Dj19 is the regular hydrocarbon oil that my work uses or elite z which is the synthetic
Just got mine today!!
Love the 8 cfm pump
Sweet, now if fieldpiece would make these awesome products affordable, instead of having to sign over your next born for them.
Even worse buying in Australia. I would only use fieldpiece. It is cheaper for me to buy direct from USA and risk the no warranty
It's pretty cheap man...only 400$ and 500$ that's nothing
Do more side work. Charge more
Lol the vacuum pumps I work on range from 2500 to 10 grand
The 85 runs between700 -800 dollars. I just bought a rebuild for 480
just bought one in stock on true tech
Great video!
👍👍
I love how Original Fieldpiece is... Oh wait... APPION ALREADY MADE THIS!!! And 100% Better
Yellow bug will follow for sure, they outdated design never change
Maximum ambient temperature of work???
Manual says 122F www.fieldpiece.com/media/manuals/Opman-VP55-VP85-v10.pdf
Chris French hey thanks for the info buddy

the background music is annoying and distracting

Probably 90minutes to 500 microns at that rate...jesuuusss
Lmao yeah that's pretty terrible
The pumps I rebuild get to 50 on their first oil before a change within like 40 seconds
🤗👍
