I’ve purchased quite expensive and highly cushioned shoes from On Running, New Balance and others. But the shoe that works best for me as a daily trainer and for a wide variety of runs and workouts is the humble ASICS Cumulus 23 and 24. Based on my positive experience, I am definitely open to trying other shoes from ASICS like the Novablast 3, Noosa Tri 14 and Glideride 3.
@@RoadTrailRun if I’m looking for lots of cushioning for longer runs or recovery runs, the Cumulus 24 feels a lot better to me than the New Balance More V3 or the On Running Cloud Monster or especially the Hoka Bondi 7 which I hate. But I also like the less soft ride of the Cumulus 23 for many types of runs. I do also like the On Running Cloudstratus V2 and the Cloud Monster. I can’t use shoes like the NB More V3 anymore.
@@RoadTrailRunWould the novablast 3 be easier on the knees than the cumulus 24? I have the cumulus but still find its a bit harsh if only running on pavement.
@@Kaisersozze I would like to know the answer to that question as well. Lately I’ve been running a lot on pavement with the Mizuno Wave Rider 25 and that shoe has worked for me a lot better than I thought it would. I’m pretty fresh even after running 7 days in a row and up to 9 mile runs.
Good morning RoadtrailRun and all the runners from 🇪🇸. Thanks for this information about Novablast 3. Here is my like. I like Asics. A nice weekend for everyone. ☀️🏃♂️☀️
The 2’s are nice, cushioned and comfortable but feel a bit heavy and ‘flat’ for my running style. I just use them a little in my vast rotation for recovery/easy runs. The 3’s definitely sound like they will be better and more versatile. I like my Tempus for more stability but they are much less cushioned.
As always great initial review Sam. V1 worked really well for my long runs. V2 not so much. I’m really interested to read your full review, in particular I’m looking for a comparison between this and the magic speed 2 for mileage range 13-20 miles
If I could have only one shoe, it would be my Novoblast 2. I have V3 on preorder. Unfortunately, the shipping date has been delayed to 9/29 or possibly longer due to supply chain problems.
Update: The shipping date keeps getting delayed. Now it is 9/29 and the email I got said that could get delayed!!! Supply chain problems are the reason.
More stack and lower drop for Glideride 3 and about 1 oz heavier. Also somewhat more rigid rocker with in its mix the front foam plate and more locked ankle. Both great fun shoes.
Usual good video Sam..I could not use V1..not enough cushioning in forefoot, it was too hot and the 10mm drop was a knee killer..the raised center in the forefoot was also a hot spot generater ..skipped V2..curious if the issues have been resolved..
V1 was the best having used both V1 and the tamed V2. Hope these go back to the wild bounce the V1's gave as THAT to me was true fun. Never had the issues people had with the V1s so enjoyed them thoroughly.
Great review, really interesting! Did not like first version for the lack of stability... This I see probably improve it. Question: How are they compare with Noosa 13?
Thanks! Considerably more forgiving bouncier and more cushioned than Noosa Tri. If you like Noosa Tri take a look at Magic Speed 2. We will have a written review soon. While somewhat heavier a much more fun and forgiving ride and likely as fast too as Metaspeed Edge + for most and for $100 less
My problem with the Novablast 2 is that despite the drop in the Novablast 2 is said to be 8mm but in the test where they cut the Novablast 2 they found 13+ mm 👀. I felt it from day one and did not use them much. How do you feel about the drop in the Novablast 3? I don't believe the official numbers .. In the 1080V12 I felt an amazing drop said to be 8mm but in cutting it was only 4mm. I seem to like the 4 mm best because the 1080V12 is super smooth..
Hi, is that not dangerous of using two different version on your feet when you run? Or maybe you can tell me and the audience that you using it on maybe 400 m, 800 m, etc. I'm just worried about the long term health issue if you doing it too in other shoes in long runs.
Depends. I compare current to prior and occasionally different models when there few if any changes/differences to geometry. Most of my test pairs have light distance. I find It is the only real way to really sense changes. Test runs can vary in distance depending on how long it takes to compare
Hi friend, just about the "heel cushioning" which is more soft? Some say is Novablast 2 but it causes that "instability sensation" but what do you think?
I have a pair of Mizuno Wave Sky Neo, it very soft and bouncy. Just wonder this shoes is similar with Novablast 3? Thinking of get Novablast 3 for my shoe rotation, I am only do easy slow run.
How does this compare to the Endorphin Speed 3? Also, I seemed to get a little lost in the Squish of the Novablast 2. The transition just seemed a little slow and more labored than my Speed 2s. Can you give a little more detail about the difference in the transition between the Novablast 2 and 3
Speed 3 given Nylon plate snappier quicker feeling with foam feel close in softness although Speed’s PEBA more energetic and a touch firmer. We’ll get deeper in transition details in full review but combo of softer foam, broader platform and new rear geometry with less plastic has 3 transitioning easier
I ran 40k of 60k trail race in them and they are superb, love them on all surfaces in dry conditions (road,dird/gravelroads, single track in the forest, loose gravel hills).
Hi, could you please compare Novablast 3, Saucony Ride 15, and NB SC trainer.. for slow run, and mac distance 10km (i have been injured for a long time and trying to get back to running again) thank you in advance.
Tough? I think Novablast would handle slower paces and faster shorter a bit better but SC Trainer is more cushioned more reactive (plate) and a better long steady fast run shoe.
Sam, your knowledge is unparalleled. Really useful review, thank you
Thanks! Real focused on this update!

The glideride is so good, it's hard to pick this shoe up as well since they seem very similar.

Sounds like an modern spritual successor to the rincon/OG Clifton

Fit compared from the 1,2 and 3? I had to half size down in the 1’s and skipped to 2’s. Wondering same for the 3 or would you say true to size?

I had the same experience. The drop in v2 feels more like a 10 or higher. That's my main complaint with them as I prefer a lower drop shoe.
Feels quite steep and now also softer up front. More cushioned in feel though upfront. I personally like but we all have our preferences
Asics doesn't measure it's shoes the same way as other companies. The measurement doesn't include insole.
@@davidlynch9049 but that should not effect the drop if its 8mm or 13+mm
Hopefully the Asics Magic Speed 2 review is next
Novablast 3 or Nimbus 24 for everyday walking and jogging? 🤗🤗🤗
Depends.. If you need a bit more support or you are heavier and your jogging is slow Nimbus. If mainly for running Novablast

could you please compare Novablast 3, Saucony Ride 15, and NB SC trainer..
for slow run, and mac distance 10km (i have been injured for a long time and trying to get back to running again)

Vs. glideride 3? Daily training medium distance.
either good with Glideride 3 a bit more cushioned and somewhat heavier (1 oz or so) and with a more rigid (but still some flex) rocker
hello Sam, do you know when sales start in Brazil?
