To be honest, I was so happy about Liverpool beating Spurs in the League Cup Final a few days earlier that I didn’t mind so much going out of Europe, even in these dubious circumstances!
For their part Tottenham got some compensation for their Final defeat a few hours after this game, by going through in their ECWC tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.
