A regular M badge as a nod to the M division is okay but claiming that the car is an actual M car (M4 in this instance) is preposterous.
agreed.. same as putting 18" 235mm on a VW UP or Peugeot 107 and believing it will perform better !
The M-Sport models pays homage to the M division but those have just the "M" badge by the side indicators.

Just about a month ago, I saw a BMW X5 with M5 badges. Why....?
There's a difference between trying hard to make people believe you're driving an M-car, AMG, RS, etc and having a sense of humour and being able to laugh at yourself a bit. I slapped an AMG-badge on my C180K, but didn't remove the C180K badge. There were no AMG-skirts, -bumper/diffuser on it and I was fooling exactly no one.
... and that's fine.
I saw a W204 debadged and then Brabus-badged a few days ago, and you know what? i found that funny.

It's more practical to turn the car around. It's not just the camera, but also lights, microphones, etc., the whole studio rig. Also, who knows what's behind the camera, it may be a bad background or something they simply don't want to show (maybe it's not even a garage!). The fact they left the turning around in the video instead of doing it off the camera is kinda funny though.

100% Agree, hate "M" badges on none M BMW's.
Trouble is BMW themselves are doing it, anything with the "M Line" or whatever they're calling the "sporty look" trim level these days, tends to have an M in front of the usual model/engine badge, always looks awful even from factory!
@@richardhammer187 Nope, that's just false. BMW does 3 'grades' of M. You can get M styling pack for your car, and they'll slap M badge usually on the side + you'll get "M steering wheel" and whatnot. Then there are MXXX cars, like M240i for example. Those while not 'true' M cars do have usually high performance engine, like turbocharged L6 in M240i case, as well as suspension/breaks with more sporty characteristic than baseline model. There's similar deal for SUVs, with M-package, things like X5 M40d etc, and finally X3M and so on. Oh, and that's another thing - the "MXXX" lineup can be a diesel, while proper "MX" won't. Bottom line is - if there's M in front of engine number out of factory it's usually a fast car. You can actually draw a parallel with how Audi brands their cars - "normal" with S-line styling, SX and RSX.

Bought my M240i last year debadged side and back. Clean look is so much nicer! Still got M240i logo inside like on the door sills, steering wheel and instrument cluster which I quite like.
