The sad part is that we will never get to hear Eric Carr's memories of these years. It would be interesting to hear his view of what Paul and Gene were like to work with.
3:13 Oh, flip. Richard Perry was my boss in 1985. I was an assistant engineer at his studio in Hollywood called Studio 55, next door to the Paramount lot. I worked with the Pointer Sisters, Donna Summer and a lot of big names that year. Got some great stories.
These stories bring back such awesome memories. I've read all the books, but the way they're pieced together here with the animation and comedy sprinkled in is amazingly entertaining!!!!!!! Very well done!!!!! Thanks for all the hard work. I'm enjoying every volume!!!!!
Kiss Animalize Tour 1984-85 1. Detroit Rock City 2. Cold Gin 3. Creatures Of The Night 4. Fits Like A Glove 5. Heavens On Fire 6. Thrills In The Night Paul’s Solo 7. Under The Gun 8. I’ve Had Enough ( Into The Fire ) 17. Rock And Roll All Night
Gag worthy indeed. Another thing I've noticed in these excerpts is how humorless Simmons is. There's very little joy. Everything's move and counter move. It reminds me of Trump somewhat.
I’m not a fan of anything after Creatures, but Animalize is an excellent album, but listening to Paul you’d think he played every instrument, wrote every song, and the other guys just showed up for the photo shoot.
at the Animalize show in StLouis on 12- 4- 84 let in to vestibule area of arena early, and I heard music coming from inside the hall. I went looking around and found an unlocked door to far back of the hall before they had opened the doors to the arena, and KISS were there on stage soundchecking, trying to figure out the bridge/ solo to Thrills in the Night.. I saw em try it abt 3 times, and that was it, they walked backstage. It was amazing. I was just a punk teenager lookin around.. I read in a Kiss book that KISS played Thrills in the Night 1st time ever live in StLouis that night. It's not true. They did not play it that night, as they had struggled with it at soundcheck.. Kulick didnt know how to play it.. neither did Paul Queensryche opened for em, 'The Warning' tour They were good I'll never forget that so strange ...and Queensryche opened with Nightrider from their ep and it was loud AF n badass(!)
For all the bullshit that seemed to happen to put Animalize together, it ended up kick ass rock and roll..And that's really what it's all about in life anyway..KICK ASS ROCK AND ROLL
The 70s Kiss were my favorite but I also like the 80s metal Kiss. IMO it wasn't really Kiss - it was more like Paul Stanley solo albums. He really did a good job. It was as good as any of the mid-eighties 80s hair metal.
Right? He really expects us to believe that Mark St. John could not play the same thing twice? Really? I am pretty sure that he wouldnt have passed the audition much less being hired.
So,no word of Eric helping or contributing? also what Paul describes Gene doing sounds as bad or worse than anything Ace or Peter ever did.I may have heard bits and pieces of this album years ago but out of all those little sound bites of songs just played there was only one i could stomach.
I sincerely enjoy Paul's unapologetic feminine side....even when it is super feminine lol Paul is truly a dude who does not "care" what people think to the extent that it'll scare him away from doing something he truly wants to do and likes. I think he is the only KISS member you can say this about, except maybe Ace. But Ace did not have a feminine side; that is ok though.
I think they did pretty good with Bruce Kulick, but he was around since the early days. I'm sure on one of these stories they tell why they didn't choose him after Ace quit?
Hugh Hefner would be canceled if he was not already dead. Lucky bastard, got away with so much while today you can’t even do a movie about what he did let alone do it.
no Paul .sometimes your write a solo sometimes you improvise, depends on the player ,and often how talented they are , known plenty who can write a solo, few who can do anything good on the spot . Bruce was good ,and he did somegreat solos . but it was mark that got me into kiss .
The sad part is that we will never get to hear Eric Carr's memories of these years. It would be interesting to hear his view of what Paul and Gene were like to work with.
We didn't see much of Mark but held his own with the self indulgence of Paul and Gene, Rock in peace Eric and Mark.
I really like Mark’s guitar work and tone on Animalize. Too bad it couldn’t have worked out.
As a 14yo in Brasil in 1984, Maceió to be exact, I LOVED this album! Still love it!

Would have loved working with Donna Summer. God, what a voice.
@@hubbsllc She was a sweetheart. Very quiet. Didn't like tense atmospheres.

Went to the Animalize tour 84 with support from a band that were never going to go anywhere.....Bon Jovi😂😂
In my view Paul Stanley can say whatever he wants. He is Kiss. He carried this band on his shoulders and he is the image of Kiss. Love him.
For all of Paul's bashing of Peter and Ace, he really saves his venom for Gene 😂
Just because Paul's bitter and jaded doesn't make him wrong.
@Coogan Still doesn't change the fact he's a lip syncing hypocrite
@@bls8959damn Paul you sure got your tongue up your own ass.
Clown band
I didn’t get that at all.
Dokken opened for them in support of their Tooth n Nail album! Winnipeg Arena March 9th 1985!
Goodness Gene”s conquest stories are gag worthy. We get it. Now talk about the band.
The excerpts are from Gene’s book. He writes about them in about every chapter. And yeah, it gets tired.
And likely false
Gag worthy indeed. Another thing I've noticed in these excerpts is how humorless Simmons is. There's very little joy. Everything's move and counter move. It reminds me of Trump somewhat.
False, paul. Dance All Over Your Face is an underrated classic. Learned it guitar/vox in 2020. Holds up.
It’s still a crap song.
That was a Lick It Up song. Paul gave him some participation points for that album.
I’m not a fan of anything after Creatures, but Animalize is an excellent album, but listening to Paul you’d think he played every instrument, wrote every song, and the other guys just showed up for the photo shoot.
Mark kicked Ass on animalize .
Agreed
Agreed X2.
I’ll give you that… Live, that off the soundboard album from Poughkeepsie NY, complete dogshit!!!! Bruce was way better for Kiss than Mark.

I love these! Paul is so funny
Thank you, nice to hear ;)
on VHS Paul was always normal & laid back & well spoken. On mp4 he mopey & very often negative.
The movie Paul saw was probably Runaway lol that movie was pretty good
I bet Paul was talking about Never Too Young To Die when he said he saw one movie that was “just embarrassing.” That certainly fits.
It's funny how everyone but Gene and Paul are/or become "difficult".
Paul can say blah blah blah blah but Mark was a fiery guitarists with a great tone for those times, I happy with my vinyl copy of Animalize.
Mark St John. He was in Kiss for a cup of coffee and then gone
For all the bullshit that seemed to happen to put Animalize together, it ended up kick ass rock and roll..And that's really what it's all about in life anyway..KICK ASS ROCK AND ROLL
lol

Gene almost disapeared in studio from 84 to 89...
And keep talking shit about peter or ace not being focused in 78 or 79😂😂😂
What a joke
Love this album. St. John's fate was quite unfortunate. Dude had serious potential but lacked discipline, commitment, and didn't comprehend spacing.
If Paul and Gene hated the shred guitar players, then why the fuck did they keep hiring them?
To be relevant
That’s what was fashionable at the time. Every metal band had to have their guitar hero then.
Right? He really expects us to believe that Mark St. John could not play the same thing twice? Really? I am pretty sure that he wouldnt have passed the audition much less being hired.
Perhaps record label execs pressure? Everyone wanted the next Eddie Van Halen, the next Randy Rhoads.
Talk about one dysfunctional band. Love them live, though.
Where’s the part where Paul blames Paul for f’ing things up?
It doesn’t exist because thanks to Paul this band kept its relevancy up to today.
Houston we have a problem 😂😂😂😂😂

7:33 he sed in two weeks he'll feel better Pual, lol
They recorded albums after the ones with Vinnie? Must have been garbage. Oh, I forgot about Revenge! 😉
Why is everybody goofy looking to Paul? Sorry we can't all be Gods gift.
Gene is so cringe everytime he talks 😬
AH SHIT
?
Gene and Paul seem to find the the worst guitar players for the band.
I think they did pretty good with Bruce Kulick, but he was around since the early days. I'm sure on one of these stories they tell why they didn't choose him after Ace quit?
Gene king of the Dweebs, Paul Queen of the Whiners… 👎🏻👎🏻
Hugh Hefner would be canceled if he was not already dead. Lucky bastard, got away with so much while today you can’t even do a movie about what he did let alone do it.
I agree!
Yeah he even had sex with dogs. He was sick
You don't understand how it works. Censorship is ideological. Leftists like him are promoted. Hes one of the regime's heroes.
Paul made the cover to Animalize. Wow. Great job, Paul, it SUCKS
It's a great cover
It’s an ok cover. But it’s nothing for Paul to be bragging about.
The back of the album is cool shot!
This made me laugh 😂
It’s a good cover for the time. We are talking 80’s pop metal years. It fits right in.
