Hi!! I was so excited to see an updated tour! My bookish tattoo (and the only tattoo with meaning) is light post from C.S. Lewis’ the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’s chapter art! I love it bc of the story of how it got into the woods in Narnia, as well as how it is both a beacon home and a point of entry for the Pevensie kids! It was a book that I grew up with and now get to keep with me forever💛
I don't have any bookish tattoos, but I did get my first tattoo at the beginning of the year. It's a realistic black and gray tattoo of a rattlesnake on my right calf. It was done over two sessions for a total of about 5.5 hours. I love how it turned out and already have plans for more tattoos. I think for my next tattoo I'll let the artist use her creativity and design a tattoo that represents Mother Nature.
Deer bones ARE the ultimate accessory, you're right and you should say it. My next tattoo is also going to be "The Starless Sea" inspired because it's also my favourite book, but I'll be getting a bee, a key and a door, precisely because swords are difficult to place, but also because I love portal fantasy in general and McGuire's "In an Absent Dream" is also another of my favourite books. I'll make the key the Ruby key from Return to Oz and add two quotes: "There are always choices" from Gaiman's "The Sleeper and the Spindle" and "Beware the Sweetness", from my favourite Ze Frank video. It's going to be involved 😂
First bookish tattoo: barn owl on my ribs after Kathryn Lasky's 'Guardians of Ga'Hoole', a childhood fave of mine! I too plan to name all my critters, this one is Soren (shares his name with the same owl from the books)
I didn't know what video to comment on, because you talk about this book often - The Starless Sea. I started reading it yesterday and I've reached page 60. So far, I love it! I don't know whether to race through it and devour it as fast as I can, or read it slowly and savor my time with it. So I am compromising by devouring 6-10 pages (not necessarily a chapter) and mulling it over and then going back to the book, backing up 3-5 pages and reading it again. I guess I am cha-cha-ing my way through this book. Why this wonderful weird way of reading? Well, it's a wonderful and weird book that deserves an unusual read-through. Thank you for gushing over it! You really helped to convince me.
I love your jackalope tattoo! I always have thought a great literary tattoo, would be of Grimalkin, the Witch Assassin ( one of the greatest literary characters ever, btw). Special emphasis would be made on her pair of scissors which she uses to collect finger bones from her victims. A detailed Charlotte's Web themed one would be cool, as well. Hope all is well with you, glad some true Spring weather is around for the rest of May...never like it when my birthday (May 30) is SUPPOSED to be Spring, and unfortunately Summer has already shoved its way into things. I’ve been checking out tattoo tours for placement inspo for some of my ideas and was happy to see your updated tour!📚❤️ I have 1 tatt so far which is bookish (mangas count, right? haha) and it’s Alphonse’s helmet from Fullmetal Alchemist. Other bookish ideas I have planned is a Raven (I love Edgar Allan Poe) and Figs (Bell jar)

But I only have one so far, a semi colon.

It’s actually my first language but I couldn’t understand what you were saying because of your accent and now I’m curious what you meant. Also if you like folklore and bones you should check out the Mari Lwyd, it’s pretty funny and does involve a skull 😂 also maybe you have heard of it but the main folk stories from my childhood where the Mabinogion, I’m sure they probably print it in English too if that is of any interest and you haven’t read it yet :) my schooling was very Welsh nationalist and language focused so a figure we were always told about who is idolised in Welsh culture who you might think is cool to look into is Llywelyn the last true king of Wales. In English he is Llywelyn the great but in Welsh we call him Llywelyn ein llyw olaf meaning Llywelyn our last leader. Oh also holiday wise if you end up in Wales there is all kinds of King Arthur related sites you can look up and visit like king Arthur’s labyrinth :)
