Can you switch between first person view and third person view in combat?

This game looks so beautiful. I love the Dragon Quest series, so I am beyond excited to play the entire Erdrick trilogy in HD-2D.
The footage doesn’t do it justice, it’s the most beautiful HD 2D game for sure!
Yeah I cannot wait for these games. I hope we don't have to wait too long for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D. I also hope we eventually get this treatment for Dragon Quest 4, 5 and 6. I would also want Dragon Quest VII in this treatment as well. I wasn't a fan of the 3DS remake. I loved the older school style of the PS1 game, but the graphics could use an update with this engine

@GenesisVII i don't think they'd do it for dq 7 -9 because there is way too much to create (especially in 7) and dq8 already has real 3d
This is what Final Fantasy VI needs. Sadly it won't get the Final Fantasy VII Treatment.
I disagree.. If literally every game is done in that style it will lose its speciality.. Besides, I think DQ in essence should be bright & colorful.. Hd 2d kinda reminds me of black & white.. Although it does fit certain titles perfectly like Triangle Strategy for example and perhaps FF VI
7 already had an remake for 3ds so its out of question I think...most they can do is port it as an remaster
It looks incredible, really does. If you asked a fan to dream of what a DQ3 remake would look like and took that dream out of their head, it'd be this.
I went from being fairly ambivalent about it to it being my most anticipated confirmed release of the year. The idea DQ1&2 are coming in the same way is incredible.
Praying 4-6 gets this treatment as well

@@SeiyaTempest depend to what kind of remake, FFVII Remake first announcement in 2015, and release 2020, and I'm pretty sure before 2015 announcement they already developed it for years.
I mean this kind of 2D-HD remake is take for years, DQ 3 remake 2d-hd first announcement in 2019.
why it take time equal to new games for a remake? because they using a new asset and a new engine, making the developer work all from zero, so the original is just for the idea. is not like remaster using the same asset from the original games then upscale it.
Just to clear something up regarding battle sprites. I'm 95% sure that you see them at all times. The reason I was convinced it wasn't because in preparation for this video I've been religiously watching the b-roll I was given. In that b-roll the sprites are clearly not there but the more I think about what I actually seen while playing the more I remember them being there. I specifically remember my mage pointing his staff every time he casted a spell. The problem is I have no proof of that haha hence the me going off the b-roll footage!
Hope that clears some things up.
Also churches have added for saving in this, replacing talking to the King to save. Auto saves have been added also for each area change. And yes you can still get your ass kicked on the world map if you venture too far!
When I was a kid I swore up and down that Earthbound had battle sprites.

I LOVE how this game looks visually, it's stunning looking, there's more detail and far more vibrant colors in the environments. It has definitely taking "HD 2D" to the next level. THIS game **proves** an HD 2D CHRONO TRIGGER would look absolutely amazing. I know this game will likely have a lot of quality of life improvements and features, and possibly some new content not in previous versions. I do PRAY that this development staff's next game will be a HD 2D remake of Chrono Trigger, it HAS to be made ASAP imo
I want to see CT and XenoGears in this style, without data processing of players, no politics and woke bs, no eulas etc.
Leave single player games out of this.

I really hope we get a port of DQ8 on modern consoles eventually. It's the game that got me into the series.

I have a HD2D gaming list to run though. Waiting on Dragon Quest (1 and 2 now as well) and the Suikoden Remakes to go all in on the 2D gaming binge.
As a big fan of the series, I am glad that they didn't betray the DNA of the Erdrick trilogy and I will definitely platinum this game when it comes out on PS5... as long as they don't make you suffer through Draconian Quest mode. XD

Here is hoping the entire trilogy sells well across all platforms so that SE realises FF6 Remake doesn't need to be a 200M dollar AAA behemoth that takes 20 years to make.

Since you had a chance to play it. Do you see your characters actually attack in this one? I see screen shots where they are standing in battle but are maybe only in menus.
You know what, I've been saying it's first person because I'm going off the B roll I was given (which looks like they were removed for the trailer), but now I really think about it, when I played when attacks were going off I could still see the characters, I'm like 85% sure now!

I've never played this series before. I'm currently playing Octopath Traveler 2 and I really like it.
This is beautiful. I’ve been waiting for more news about this remake since it was announced, got quiet for a few years but now we’ve got an update -- and I & II being remade as well, I CANT WAIT!!!
And the fact it's coming this year is the icing on the cake!

Can you keep the third person perspective where you can see your party in battle? Or it always goes into first person mode?
Wow, this looks amazing! Is the voice acting full-on dialogue in cutscenes or is it just battle grunts and the like? Also, this may be a no brainer question, but is the music in game orchestral or midi? I assume it's orchestral judging from the trailer, but I just want to be sure.
Full voice acting for the story, as well as the battle grunts. Completely rerecorded orchestral soundtrack

Okay so I have three questions.
1.) Did you happen to find mini/small medals? I assume they are in the game since they are in the earlier remakes of the game but, I've yet to see a confirmation on it.
2.) Did you receive any monster medals after battles? There is a bonus dungeon in the GBC remake leading to an optional post-game boss called Grandragon. He only appeared in the GBC remake of the game and to get there you had to collect all bronze and silver medals monster medals.
3.) Did you obtain any game tickets? In the GBC and SNES remake there is a fun mini game you can get rare equipment and permanent stat boosts from but, you need game tickets to participate. There are also multiple different boards/tracks peppered through the game, which provides nice detours in between exploring and story progression.

Yes, it looked pretty finished to me. I believe they are just squashing bugs and getting feedback atm
Though E3 no longer exists they will likely replace it with a different Trade show for when its supposed to occur this year the last week of this month so they may mention a Demo the week of June 28th to July 3rd.
It looks so damn sexy, these graphics are just crazy good! I can't wait to play it again in this new format. The dungeons in a 3d form are so much better than the original so it makes exploration more enjoyable.
Day 1 buy for me.
Can't wait. My only regret was playing those first 2 underwhelming ports on switch

@sonicmanic2556 I think they should complete the Erdrick trilogy and then we'll be happy. I think DQB3 could draw a lot of cool concepts from DQ3, like opposing worlds and builders, and a class system for the builder.

Hey namco, can we finally get tales of destiny 1&2 and rebirth considering they are similar to 2d hd?
Everything looks superb but I have my doubts on the battles if it could keep players engaged.
Those difficulty mode names are the BEST. haha Dracky Quest Mode made me chuckle. So stoked for this game. I played 3 on the GBC when I was like 10.
I just want to know how well the personality test at the start of the game translates to the remake. To this day I have friends take that test and it mostly stuns them with the accuracy of their character. 😊

1. Is it random encounters or do you get to see the enemies in the wild and approach them for a fight?
2. fight scene: about that 1st person view, can you change that to seeing your party when in battle?
3. Is the remade music the only option? can you choose the original composition?

I loved 8 and 11 to bits. so I was happy to hear about this release. wasn't a big fan of the 2,5 D but this looks amazing. this is a day 1 for me.

DQ3 is easily one of my most favorite NES games. I'm so glad it's getting a proper remake.

my first dragon quest gameplay was DQ11. never played other series. wondering if the monsters spawn randomly like the older pokemon games, or is the monsters in overworld like DQ11?
Possibly the best hd 2d game I've seen so far. The animations are crazy
I have never been a dragon quest fan it just isn’t my cup of tea I do highly repsect it as a series and the importance of it. This game just looks gorgeous and may have to play it and it would be my first in the series.

That's probably because they had hundreds of people playing on their machines, recording all that footage and co-ordinating who to send it out to is way more work than just providing b-roll 😅😂

I’d like to see the monk class in HD2D but I love how the world map isn’t flat and has hills and low areas when walking.

DQ3 was my all time favourite jrpg I can't wait to play this I hope I'm still alive by the time it comes out I may not be but god i want to play it it's all i've been thinking about since 2021
I hope this is really good. I absolutely love 11. One of the best jrpgs ever made. But it's also really character and story heavy, while the original 4 games were all NES games, where it was all about stats, leveling up, and beating the next dungeon.

I know this is the original style of battle that we only see the enemy in front of us. But i wish they add a settings that we can change that we see the characters and the enemies at the same time i want to see the characters slash or use magic to the enemies. Similar to grandia. Lunar, dq11 and other jrpg. Similar to your thumbnail that looks so beautiful !And by the way still dreaming for Lunar 3!!! Or HD2D remake of Lunar.. I been dreaming for it for years...

I am super excited to see each region and how Ramia/Empyrea exploration looks.
One thing they said to us was that doing it in this style gives them the opportunity to make the locations look and feel how they once imagined them and that you'll see how much each town and region looks and feels different

There was loads of ambient sounds along side music in towns, the world map and dungeons. Can’t really remember much from that

I'm really hyped for this. My only gripe is the combat still being in First person. I know its faithful but I have always much preferred seeing the characters actions.

The sprites are quite beautiful , even if its not my preference. Why have such beautiful sprites tho when you cant see them in battle.. also why can we not run?
You see the sprites in battle and you can run on the field
Actually, don't quote me, but I believe the B roll we were provided and the trailer that was shown, took out the sprites for attacks. The more I think about it the more I remember seeing attacks! I'm so damn sure! I wish we could of captured our own footage..

Due to the ABILITIES menu Warrior/Fighter would go from WORTHLESS to actually worth using especially if they KEEP their DQ 6 and 7 skills ie Critical hit or miss Warrior skill for Metal slime farming or Punch/Knuckle Sandwhich fighter class high damage done to bosses but can still miss completely BUT the 2x Str boost Oomph/Twin hits spell WOULD effect KS if the fighter class in this remake could actually use it.

Well theirs still no point IN This remake giving the Warrior/Fighter WITH MP if they will never use it that and NO OTHER version of DQ3 ever HAD Physical Skills usable IN battle they were all OUT of battle use only.
The menu seems to say 'abilities' which are new. Also the collectors edition seems to tease a new class.

Yeah, there’s abilities, closest thing I can compare it too is similar to is what you have in DQ11. And yes there is a new class, not sure what I can say about it though

Really wanted the special edition but an extra $140 for some acrylic figures seems way overboard. The regular edition for Switch will have to suffice.
Does this have a pixel font option ? I think a pixel font like in the FF remasters suits these old games WAY better.
