I had a 74 Super Beetle (I had a starter button in it two tone Blue), I have dreams that I found it n I am driving it . I am So Damn Happy in my dream. Miss It So! Love This ♥️!! Blessings n Peace To You n Family
Turned out Awesome Gary, love '67 my first VW '67 Bug blue. Excellent driving car and 12volt, big 5 can't beat it, glad you put your personal touches on it, Happy Vdubin.
Hi guys I always look at all your video's on you tube can't stop v w I also got to bus a 1972 bay window & a 1972 panel bus German made I am from Trinidad and Tobago Caribbean it's so cool to look at you guys.
Hi, I purchased my first beetle back in 1980, it was a 1967 Java Green. Cool ride and I'm glad you decided to keep "Spot". Many years later now,I am getting my 1956 Oval Ragtop on the road. Thanks Guy's
Gary and co, nice to see a restoration that get's this beetle on the road, What would be nice is a follow up on the total cost of the resto. car cost, material etc. It would help us "wanna-bees" start a project of out own. Thanks so much.
I loved it!! Ol' spot made me remember the effort I put into "roadstore" my baywindow. I still need to change the passenger area floorpan , reupholster the seats and install the new side panels
So pleased to see this car done. You kept this one quiet, Gary. Youve even got the approval of the VW father himself @Mustie1 Hope you’re intending to keep it for a good while. We can’t get genuine patina like that here in the UK 🇬🇧. If the paint falls off in our country, the car would dissolve over the course of a couple English winters. Hoping to see a road trip video of this one soon
Wow great job Gary bringing OL spot back to life and now he’s drivable congratulations on that I love VW bugs there just great little cars Injoy ur bug Gary 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 take care and stay safe god bless my friend
WONDERFUL! When the hack did you do THIS??? This car is a treasure! I was born in 1967, and my dad owned this model until 1973. A lovely car in dark grey. There is a photograph of me as a small kid standing on the rooftop. But tell us: Is there any conservation applied on the rusty patina? Otherwise you couldnt drive Ol Spot in the german rain down here...😊
You nailed it on the perfect cal look rake, and just right on the wheel and tire combo. Slammed looks cool, but the traditional setup is so much easier to live with. Well done!
What a neat story. Love Spot. I really love driving my bay, holes and all. Transmission leaks a little but it sat forever in a pasture. The interior has been ripped out and it is noisy but is fun. Thanks for the great videos. Still better than tv.
Car turned out great!! It takes WAY longer to build a car like this than most people realize! I try to do one a year...sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Thanks for the update! You finished it just in time to drive it to work, and hopefully get some of your students hooked on Bugs!
Great job Gary! We are all proud of you hahaha ol spots looking great, such motivation to get out and work on my VWs in this AZ heat!!! Thanks for the video guys!
Ol Spot is absolutely gorgeous!! The patina and seats are an incredible combo. Sounds like it runs like a dream. I love the characteristics this ride has. Those wheels really set it off too. Great video lads!! ✌🏼
What a beautiful bug. Hoping mine will look as pretty when she's all done. So glad to hear you guys have upholsters to do the headliner - I have 2 in now cracking on and I'm so glad I did (tmi kit for my 66 was too long on roof so alterations were needed). Don't feel as guilty for this now, but thanks for lighting a fire up my butt and reminding me she needs finished before salt hits the roads in a few months.
@@VWLifeVW I'm glad I didn't do it!! My handmade clothes are just passable if you remove your glasses and don't squint (at least that's what I do) so didn't want to do that with bug when I need the 4 eyes to drive XD
Awesome restomode on ol spot Gary! Still a old girl, but has that young life put back in! You wouldnt consider a flat clear or semi to preserve the patina? Though it will probally out live usual just the way it is! I dont know what type of state inspection you guys have out there, but then again you must have to bring all the other VW's there, so they see it coming! Thanks for preserving ol spot and the story that goes along with it!! Go tell your Aunts and Uncles!!!
Congrats on getting Spot done for your summer project. Glad you learned something about windshield install and were able to pass the info on to us less knowledgeable vw nuts. Looks great with the spiffy interior and the rustorod exterior. The wheels set it off nicely.
This is one of my favourites, and really glad you left the paint work alone, as it looks gorgeous! Nice job and well done getting her back on the road💕
In the 90’s I paid $50 for a 68 vw blue semi auto with a sunroof when I was 13, no title no engine. I never did do anything with it but it had beautiful patina, imagine what “spot” looked like 20 years ago and that’s what my beetle looked like. We didn’t appreciate patina then but man do I wish I still had it.
Ol spot looking good thank you for the vid always seen Old Spot in the background when you guys worked on the other beatle but love the look Gary and good work on the vid Matt.
Miss my 67. The white paint never faded or rusted. Almost looked pearlescent. I think I replaced the turn signal control module twice new and then a junkyard part which never failed as long as I had the car. 1500 with a Holley 300 cfm bug spray and a Mallory distributor. Duel point.
Nice job!! I am not generally too crazy about the patina, but this baby looks seriously special!! Gary, just one question, you mentioned that it had an a/c unit, I didn't even know it was possible. Can you please expand a bit about it? Living in South Florida, that's about the one thing that stops me. Thanks!
there was big radiators underneath the car on both sides and the compress ran off the fan belt. pretty common on mexican beetles, then you had all the blower and stuff under the hood in the front.
Was awesome to see ‘Ol Spot in person at Top Notch!!
thanks Tom!!!
I LOVE the way Ol Spot turned out! Nice job Gary. What an inspiration and the best part: another VW on the road! 👍🏼🥰💕
Yes! Thank you!

you are right Gary, so many blue ones have similar patina. I have noticed the same with the ruby red. Glad to see Old Spot on the road.
