    Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs ruclips.net/user/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.

    I looked them up to see where they are now. It looks like running a 5 star B and B was not what they expected. They sold the chateau after one or two years of being in business. They are living in the UK and have a daughter.

    ha! I live near this part of France. These houses are everywhere, and it's pretty much only bedazzled foreigners who buy them because honestly, it's your entire life to upkeep something like this. This is also a pretty expensive example. Crazy.

    What they could have done ---- Decorate downstairs, maybe put a new bathroom downstairs, rent that out through the season -- they have an income!
    They move upstairs, use the rental income to do the reno, rent out each unit as they complete it, sorted!

      I keep wondering why these couples don't take a measured, tiered approach like this. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @happydays1336
      @happydays1336 Год назад +2

      Sounds great except the construction upstairs will impact the living space on the main floor because workmen will be carrying up building supplies and electricians and plasterers, etc., will be going up and down the stairs stirring up dirt and making a racket at all times of the day and maybe at night, too. There'd be paint, plaster and varnish fumes.
      The wife wouldn't be able to sew curtains and make bedspreads in an upstairs construction zone because she'd need a room on the clean main floor to set up her projects.
      There would be no privacy for a main floor renter because the upstairs rooms can only be accessed through the front door and the stairway in the foyer. These stairs won't be separate from the main floor so a renter won't have any privacy. Finishing and renting out one bedroom at a time upstairs would be very unpleasant for guests for the same reasons.
      I'm not sure if guests would want to spend a lot of money to stay in a noisy, dirty construction zone with workmen's trucks and supplies piled up in the yard.

    Both should have kept working and paid trades to make the changes then they would be responsible for the aesthetics. Sometimes how you have to be humble and realise your limitations and working alone is particularly challenging. I am so glad they got there in the end.

    I think some of the comments are a bit harsh on this couple. They have done brilliantly with that job. The only thing i would not have done is added the pressure of the wedding so quick as there was no need for it. All it did was add more pressure and stress whilst also draining more money. Other than that... well done for chasing your dreams guys! Hope you make a huge go of it .

    This was an extremely overambitious plan, with the reno work alone, but to add a wedding was highly unrealistic. Imho they should have had a tiny civil wedding, get the business going, THEN have a party for their family and friends.

Don't expect to open a business at the exact same time you think you're going to complete the reno! And don't get married until you've lived in the place for a while. Talk about high anxiety! @@4WDIESEL1 Whaaaat? Noooo! What happened to this dream??? Money troubles? They weren't able to keep up the maintenance/running costs of the Chateau? What happened? Hopefully they got a good price for it and had enough left after paying back the mortgage & other bills? Wonder where they are living now and what they're doing? Back to their 9 to 5's??? If so, that's really sad! If so, at least this was a good learning curve and they will try again later? This time knowing what it takes and planning properly? Are they still married I wonder?

    I don’t believe that all they achieved was done on 65,000 pounds. The fixtures, paint and furnishings alone would have eaten up more than that amount of money. Then there was the bedding, reupholstering of old furniture, etc. etc. No way.

    Surely it's illegal to do DIY electrics with no qualifications, particularly for a building that's open to guests? Must be a fire hazard. Thoughtless and dangerous.

      I've seen people do the electrics but then get someone qualified to sign them off, here in the UK anyway.
