:o) That take off reminded me of when I was an apprentice years ago watching a Jaguar Gr Mk.1 with a large LGB on the centreline station nearly using the curvature of the earth to get airborne from Boscombe Down's main runway.
I believe that Barns Wallace designed the bomb in such a way that when dropped from a certain height the bomb shape made the bomb break the sound barrier I don't know if this is true or not but I have often wondered if the people on board the lancasters ever heard the sonic boom.
It is true that the bomb went supersonic. The tail fins were also offset to impart a spin. It would have been impossible for the bomber crew to have heard the sonic boom, but I would imagine those on the ground did hear it, but that is just speculation on my part.
No, terminal velocity depends on shape, density etc.. The earthquake bombs definitely could break the sound barrier in free fall due to their weight and streamlined shape.
Beautiful video Steven! Just water to ask bit of a long shot... iv desperately tryed and tryed to install redshade/sweetfx iv gone on sas and many other forms to get it working.. With no results.. Is there any chance of you doing a install video how to do it? I'm nt savvy with all this but can get around alot but this has stumbled me! Any help or a vid to show would be great keep up the good work!
I am an aviation fan and a military history buff. I just watch and enjoy the videos on YT Dr S, I don't play the sim, nor frequent the forum you mention. Apologies if my comment caused any annoyance but do please accept it as simple feedback. Other than the bomb aimer's position ;) , I think you have captured the rest of the aircraft very well indeed and I particularly like the cockpit views. Best regards.
Hi Steven. Another great video although I have to confess in recent months my attention has been drawn more to CLOD, BOS, BOM and BOK due to their amazing enhancements on graphics and play-ability improvements. its a shame they cant re-release a download fully modded up for 1946 because for me its the total variety of aircraft and theaters that works although it still really does show its age graphically. I've deleted this flight sim and reinstalled it so many times with all the different versions but got fed up with the flyby sounds always dipping out due to 'glitches' or whatever because they were one of the great enhancements of the game for me. I just feel this has been modded by add ons too many times. Perhaps you can prove me wrong? All the best mate.
They wont release it the way your mentioning because the creators of BoS are too worried about making money from you and charging $10 for a campaign and $20 for a single aircraft. This is what IL-2 has become now. Its really pathetic. CLoD is amazing and always will be because it was modded and fixed for free. And its only $9.99
yes, they did considerable damage. but the one craft's miss that destroyed the town was what got shot-down aircrews shot or beaten to death by villagers and common folk. the british were seen as vicious and evil because of their sloppy warfare.
At the time. Merlins and Packards were developed, the RAF needed any form of powerful engines. Which is why some RAF Long Range Bombers had Packards and some had Merlins
Excellent animation... one could pick holes here and there... but a lot of work went into this and you have done well!

Great video as always Steven
10:23 for the explosions

Thank you for your reply.
terminal velocity is 212mph

Copee No they would not, at 200 mph the Lanc would be well past the Explosion and at 20000 ft
I need to get this game to work with all these mods!I have the steam version.IL-2 1946 is still so awesome
Those bombs sunk the Tirpitz battleship & not sure what else they might have hit. Nice video.
a strategic strong train bridge who did resist several "classical" bombings , earth quake effect ...!!!
No, the Tirpitz was destroyed using the 12,000lb Tallboy bomb.
Grand slam bomb achieved grand slam results, these monsters weighed 22,000lbs!
Shouldn't the Starboard inner engine start first?
This isn't modern day. They start it as Outer Starboard to Outer Port
That was epic as fuck. Can you do more like this?
What map is this?

Sadly still isn't working... just always a error message as soon as i try to load the game never mind thanks for your help
The bomb aimer's position looks like a B-25 rather than a Lancaster !?
on this spec of lancaster there was no fron turret and bomb aimers position never had a gun
