  • Drum cover of "Message in a Bottle", a song by the Police. It was released as the lead single from their second studio album, Reggatta de Blanc in September of 1979. Written by the band's lead singer and bassist Sting and Andy Summers.
    Rolling Stone ranked it number 65 on its list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time".
    Stewart Copeland's drumming, praised as his "finest drum track" by Summers, was "overdubbed from about six different parts."
    Triggered the Terry Date drum kit from Steven Slate Drums 4.

    WOAH !!!!!! How had I missed this Ryth.?
    The most amazing cross-stick groove in music. I could never get it down specially when Copeland doubles up the sticking on the rim. Then as a MUCH larger kick to my ego , I read he improvised the whole thing and the drumming was done in one take.
    You make me proud Sal!

      @Thomas Martin
      The link to the rendition you provided I’ve seen before and the drummer is playing with 2 hands what I played with one. It’s not better, just different and in addition my cover has a drum tuning that is closer to the original one Stewart played, and has more snap and a tighter groove.

    Highly awesome, and you make it look easy, but I think drummers like yourself are freakishly gifted. Can you somehow split your brain into different parts or something like that?

    • @rhythmantic

      Obiwazz
      Thank you for checking out my cover and for your comments. As far as I know the brain can only handle one thing at a time, even though there's four way coordination with each limb doing something different, the brain is looking at it as a whole and how each of the four parts sync up with each other. To a certain degree it is also a natural God ability.

    • @obiwazz6929
      @obiwazz6929 7 лет назад

      Okay, thanks... yes that makes sense that the mind is looking at it as a whole. I play guitar and I know the two hands can be doing different things, but to also introduce the bass beat with the foot, that is impressive.
