Fantastic explanation. I've been a Märklinista for 5 years now. I even have the CS3 and 3 MS2, but was never sure of the m84- stupid, huh? Now I know.

You do have better view of the m84 and m83 by use CS3.

Hello! Thank you very much for this great serie of videos. I am trying to bring back to life an old Marklin set that I have. I am just wondering if this M84 decoder aslo works with the Mobile Station Version 1 (the one I have is from 2009)? Thanks again!

If you have the Mobile Station with the round red knob centered under the screen, then you will be OK. The Mobile Station 1, with the red knob more to the right, will only control locomotives.
You can consider buying the Marklin 29000 set, or one of the entry starter sets. The 29000 has a lot of C-track (and R-2 radius curves), and the new Mobile Station. It is a big improvement over the Mobile Station 1, and I am certain you will enjoy the upgrade!

Love this video, I have the Marklin Turnout Actuator 75491, is that possible for M84 to connect with 75491, so that I can manage from MS2? Thank you.

Thank you. For the Turnout actuator 75491 you use a M83 (Marklin 60832):

75491 is a magnet switch motor which only can work with the m83 which are a switch decoder. If you use m84 you will burn out magnet switch motor!!

I wish Märklin could do better MS2 by put in USB connection in the MS2 too and more memory capacity so we do have more advance expanded MS2.

What different about m84 and m83?

As a general and short answer:
The M83 uses the power from the decoder itself to feed (power) its ports (outputs).
It is -typically- used to control solenoid items with momentary contacts like turnouts or older signals with solenoids.
The M84 uses the power fed to the center contact of the respective port (1 of the 4 outputs), and they are galvanically separated (see one our the videos).
It is -typically- used to power light circuits, stop sections of track (signal can be coupled), etc.
