An afternoon at the beach with a large format pinhole camera

- Had a quick pop down to the beach after work with my Zero Image 4x5 pinhole camera.
I had it loaded with Fomapan 100 which I pushed to 400, also for the first time I tried stand developing, instead of the usual 1+4 mixing ration with Ilford DD-X I did 1+9, 20ºc for 45 minutes only agitating for the first minute. I am pleased with the results, but not sure how much difference stand developing makes, so I will go out sometime to photograph 2 photos side by side, develop one normally and the other stand to see the difference.
My personal favourite photo from this is at 5:59

Once again - another crop of sublime images. We’ll done!
Thank you Ian, appreciate it ☺️
Your lovely neices were hoping they would see uncle Will fall in the sea 😁.. good video bro 🤙
That's nice of them 🙄😊
Maybe I will one day 😉
Stand Dev is very easy and always works for every b/w from 50 to 400 iso. But I get the best results at iso 100. Take 500 ml of tap water (room temperature) and add 5 ml of Rodinal. You can leave it for an hour and tilt it every now and then, but I let the reservoir rotate gently. Stop bath, Fixshit and wash for half an hour to an hour and you're done. I do all my film that way 35, 120 and 4x5 thousands and thousands of photos. Always! Succez Will.
Great video Will and some fantastic images....love the idea of a hot drink for the cold days ahead.
Thank you Jim 😊
Can't beat a hot drink when out on a cold day 😎
I always use a semi-Stand develop ... Rodinal 1:100 for 60 minutes with a few inversions at 30 minutes. Works well for most films!!!
Thank you Brian, I think I need to try Rodinal
Great set of images. I think I prefer the tones with the push process.
Thank you Garon, I was pleased with the results from the push, going to be trying it more 😁
Another cracking video Will 🙂Thank you 🙂
Thank you very much 😊
A couple of cracking shots there, Will. Great stuff!
Thank you Gary, appreciate it 😁
Nice quiet evening out with the pinhole camera...interested to see what differences there are with stand development. Thanks Will.
Thank you Bill, I plan on test them side by side as soon as I can 😁
What photogenic rocks! Loved the first image especially Will.
They are fantastic rocks, always something new with the tide, need to spend more time there 😁
lovely! :)
Thank you Sina 😊
Another awsome video. And hot tea while you wait for the longer exposures, a nice touch :) StanD developing with Rodinal works well, it just seems wrong to agitate onece in an hour while the film is developing. Cool timelapse too. Keep up the good work :)
Thank you 😁
It's perfect for them longer exposures with the colder days creping up.
Lots of people mention Rodinal, I do need to try it sometime
Gotta have agitation!
Great location. Even seen small (young?) sharks in rockpools :-)
Just experimenting at the moment 😁
It's a lovely location, not sure what the fish/shark was, but they normally swim away fast, presume it was sick 😬
@@WillGudgeon Young and unexperienced and probably taken by surprise by the retreating water.
Nice images Will. Interested to hear more about the stand development vs normal, see if you like it better. I’ve never tried it myself.
Thank you Scott.
I enjoy the process of stand and also saves developer so saves money.
But interested to do side by side photos to see the difference 👍
Always enjoyable to watch your videos Will. The stove is a great addition. I have one and love perching up on a rock for a cuppa. You mentioned colour film. Have you ever shot any with a pinhole camera? I bought some recently for my 4x5 but haven’t used any yet. I’m being a bit precious with it because of the costs involved.
I have years ago used colour with a Pinhole camera, always enjoyed the results.
Was looking the other day and prices seem insane now, would love to try it with my 4x5 pinhole but not sure I can justify the cost at the moment.
@@WillGudgeon I bought 2 boxes of Portra 160 but will wait for something special to use it on.
