I thought Arveiturace was the best evil dragon, but THIS is the best one. It shows just how complex dragons can be, just as complex as people. What motivates her is honestly wholesome ( heh, mostly ), enjoying the lives of people in cities and wanting to be a part of that... even if that means causing mischief, and wanting to rule over them. Dragon lovers like myself have been eating really good with these last few videos. Thank you!
I really like how much character they give these dragons. They shape the world around them, and aren't just a generic dragon, but have personalities and aspirations. It's very cool, there need to be more dragons like that.
I got an idea for a plot device to solve the "horny bard problem". It's called: Child Support. Evil dragon makes horny bard take care of egg and baby dragon, on threat of being eaten, with ketchup. Shenanigans ensue.
Water deep council: So we all agree to just leave the ancient green dragon alone as its just curious, into tv drama, and hasn't really done too much to harm us, lest we be bathed in hellfire and petty antics.
This has become my favourite character of all D&D lore. Thanks for introducing her, she literally sounds like most of my characters. You always have the best lore videos.
I would LOVE to play as the adopted son of Claugiyliamatar and enchant for her a ring to allow her to change shape at will. Just having this secret agenda among the party to make my dragon mom queen of Waterdeep would be so hilarious
Okay, this is the BEST dragon, what a good and well written persona ! Finally not an evil character because it likes doing evil ! I love it ! Thanks for the video
Oathbreaker paladin: "So-" Necromancer: "*DON'T*! Don't. I won't hear it. I won't fucking hear it from you. This time I know that this one is not only real but an actual villain with magical powers. So shut up. We're almo-" Claugiyliamatar: *Dancing in the mismatched polymorph form of both human and dragon.* "Wish I could be... Part of that world!" Priestess of Luthic: "No." *Turns and begins leaving.*
Judging by the pattern of these past few videos, the next one is going to be about an Ancient Red Dragon. First there was the blue, then the black, even though he's technically a dracolich he was a black dragon first, then a white, and now a green. So I look forward to seeing my personal favorite chromatic dragon type, red. A fully ancient, personality filled, red dragon. Of course I could be wrong and we're getting another dragon type next.
I don't know what it says about me that I want to enable this dragon on her dream to become a ridiculously powerful human-shaped lady, but I do. Totally aware it could spell all sorts of disaster but the chaos gremlin in me is too strong. She's wanted it for so long and would have so much fun.
So in our current campaign we hit level 15-16 and just defeated tiamat. At least a version of her. After we returned to waterdeep we got an invitation from someone anonymous to meet up. Turns out it was old gnawbone. She's been watching us for a while apparently and after seeing our success against tiamat she believes that people like us should be in positions of power, not underlings for the people in charge of waterdeep. So basically, old gnawbone wants to help us take over waterdeep.
That story with the noble family is so amazing. One thing I'm wondering about is how could she get anywhere near the mansion, when all dragons are magically barred from entering Waterdeep? I really wanna know...
Maybe they enacted that magical bar only afterwards, in reaction to her audacious scheme? Admittedly, I'm not familiar with Waterdeep's history, so it's just a guess.
It's possible the manor was outside of the city wall which if I'm not mistaken the barrier is only around the walled area of the city, there's plenty of farmland and countryside manors all over Faerun.
To be fair the Dragon ward seems to be used in stories only when useful like in the Aquisitions Inc. adventure to prevent you from having a Bronze Wyrmling as an ally in Waterdeep any other time the ward is never brought up hell there are at least 2 Steel Dragons that live in Waterdeep and we know for a fact that at least 1 of them was never given access to the city and yet she lives in it. I dont remember her name but she is known as the Wyrm of many spells and was a rival of the original Blackstaff who if im not mistaken was the only person able to give a Dragon access to Waterdeep and could take it away at any time and yet she can come and go whenever she wants even in her Dragon form so its not just her shapeshifting
Man.. that makes me want to (if given the chance) to be a level 17+ wizard and do the true polymorph into an ancient Bronze Dragon + clone to be reborn as a chromatic dragon and she’d be able to use the same polymorph that allows you to retain abilities.
She's so funny. I could imagine a player character working with or for her as a form of patron or just background plot to get her what she wants. I'm invested.
This is the coolest dragon I have heard of. I could see playing a character that either wants to romantically in love with her mind and personality, and is fully okay with her being paranoid and watching them 24 / 7. Or just make a character who wishes to do everything he can for her, while enjoying serving her.
Love the ancient named dragon videos! Im in a 2nd ed Dnd game, and about to hop into the faerun game world to start chasing down these legendary dragons. Your videos definitely give me inspiration for tactics lol.
First of all dragons do not fear her scheming so much as they know she already has a scheme set up in case they f around and wanna find out. lol An icon
Jesus, that is an amazing plan. Literally all she has to do is be a good mom for a human lifetime and she gets what she wants and maybe more seeing as she's mom to a massive cabal of mages that owe everything to her. Heck, she even gets by on the idea that she could just say that all the "evil" they hear about her doing is just rumor and character assassination by her enemies and rivals.
This has got to be one of the most interesting dragons ever. Soap operas, deviancy, epic manipulations, deception, and an inferiority complex!!! I've got to use the plot about raising children into mages.
Speaking of the half-Green Dragon Ettin, an unnamed ettin like that also appeared in Adventurers League, Tyranny in Phlan. Where Vorgansharax attacks Phlan and occupies it for years.
That would make one hell of a character idea. Playing as one of the child wizards she raised and sends out into the world to try and find the kind of magic she needs to take on human form would be fun. You can role it in to Icespire Peak or Lost Mines of Phandelver, anything involving Never winter or Water deep because they are all in such close proximity to her forest.
Old Gnawbone can appear in the published D&D campaign _Storm King's Thunder_ as an optional encounter of sorts. In the sourcebook's "suggested encounter" for her home of Kryptgarden Forest, she'll soon appear if the PCs wander into her forest, but won't immediately attack. If the PCs can hold back, she'll tell them where they need to go to start dealing with the problem of the giants - after all, dragons hate giants and she'd want nothing more than for them to settle the hell down so she can get back to her soap operas. But if the PCs (foolishly) attack her, she'll breathe her 22d6 poison gas breath weapon on them and then leave. She can also cast as an 8th level druid, and can innately cast Invisibility, Legend Lore, Protection From Energy and True Seeing each once per day.
I love the fact they created an epic drama for Claugi. I 100% guarantee you that it would be better than any intrigue series ever created in our modern day. 😂🤣🤘🏼 awesomeness
Doing Storm King’s Thunder with some friends and they just finished an encounter with Gnawbones. She appeared to them as an old lady rolling a cart of bones and covered with woodland creatures. They did some errands for her, then got sucked into a maze in her lair where she tried to break their wills and enslave them. It was awesome doing research on her, great video!
Congrats on the new project! I'm currently out of work but hopefully that will change soon, if it does I'll definitely be pledging. It's a really cool premise!
@MrRhexx sir, you have really out did yourself. This video is great and the research in it must’ve been extensive. I’m casually listening to this on my way to&from work and I’ll definitely jam this again on a lazy Saturday morning, again. Hat’s off to you🎉
My brother use to do that on star wars galaxies, he'd buy up every cheap ore/weapon/what have you from the market then relist it at double the price, I asked him why and his answer was "he who controls the spice controls the galaxy " and that was my first economics lesson on supply and demand, fucker got rich in game off of that
Give a award to the person who came up with this lore - this is so hilarious. Can´t stop imagine a green dragon watching cheesy soap opera with her cristall ball while eating snacks and getting oiled up by her callboys
What a great character. An absolutely terrifying foe to be sure, but she's obsessed with anonymously scheming. I wonder how powerful her organizations are - she swindles large piles of gold, and then spends it to build her influence. She no doubt spies on everyone in her employ, enables their schemes, manipulates their ambitions, and always ensures their loyalty. It would be terrifying -- if her end goal wasn't to live among Waterdeep and bring the soap opera illusions into reality. And adopting children and raising them benevolently ...wow. What a play. Imagine a world where she succeeds, becomes Queen of Waterdeep, and continues the orphanage/wizard school. Simultaneously, of course, running the underworld, engaging in 5D political intrigue, and spending every second paranoid watching and guarding against attacks. In some ways, Waterdeep might prosper. It would be filled with corruption, and everything and everyone would be tied to and dependent on her - but if she sees that ruling benevolently will increase her soft power, she'd do it.
If you chose the orphan background on the players handbook page 140 you get a free proficience in prestidigitation. What if this dragon is running an orphanage network all around the swordcoast and abducting the best ones?
Wait so she wants to be a humanoid the most but seeks to kill adventures who would probably be willing to find an artifact that would polymorph her at will if she only feigned that she was "born into the wrong body, cursed with an evil upbringing that she's tried so hard to outgrow." Bad WotC bad. But the idea of an evil dragon basically being the annoying "Karen" is hilarious to me.
@@gorgit you forget ancient AF, even if she couldn't get the item herself it's more than just prideful once you hit millenia in age to bypass a solution to your own detriment. There's writing for kids then there is an adult hobby that was basically built upon adult themes and while I know I might earn a gasp or a sigh I doubt the hobby is getting better by changing terms and softening the actual reality of warfare, politics and actual plot lines. Yes my party might go full meme mode and burn down a tavern and decide the barmaid and her two minute backstory is more intriguing to their current characters interests but that doesn't mean I can't use a better plotline again later or have it progress naturally in the same storyline. TL;DR- lazy writing being excused because it's not uncommon doesn't make for a better hobby.
Our party recently fought Claugliamatar. And it was one hell of a boss fight In a previous fight with an ancient Red Dragon, unbeknownst to us, she was scrying us, studying our battle tactics. So she crafted the battlefield to specifically counter us. All of us were having to use our turns to counter what she was doing or what her minions were doing or trying to save the NPCs caught in the crossfire. We eventually prevailed. But it was an awesome fight. We went in thinking "we just took down a dragon, and red dragons are supposedly the strongest, so what does old gnawbones have that he didn't".... A brain.... And knowledge about all our classes, spells, subclasses, and tactics. Claugliamatar was so much harder than Phyrrus was, even though we had poison resistance. And no I don't consider it bad play that the dragon had "metagaming" knowledge. It made perfect sense at least to me, so I wasn't upset at the DM and didn't consider it any more metagaming than me buying 4 potions of poison resistance was (one for each party member except myself, because I was a dwarf)

Thank you!
I love how D&D has a dragon which just feels like the comic villain straight out of a musical
This Dragon is insane, i love how she uses economics 101, supply and demand to get rich.
I love these evil dragon in depths videos!
I really like how much character they give these dragons. They shape the world around them, and aren't just a generic dragon, but have personalities and aspirations. It's very cool, there need to be more dragons like that.
Extremely secretive, craves more magic, oddity among dragons, super cautious... she is the teen drama Netflix adaptation of Daurgothoth.
I got an idea for a plot device to solve the "horny bard problem".
It's called: Child Support.
Evil dragon makes horny bard take care of egg and baby dragon, on threat of being eaten, with ketchup.
Shenanigans ensue.
Ironically this is the only dragon a horny bard can seduce since the others will only mate with dragons
Old Gnawbone the GOAT, amazing dragon with so many footprints left behind!
"I agree to be naked and chained, and to rub you down with oil."
"Hah! I knew you couldn't resist the lure of gold!"
"Oh, I get gold, too? Bonus!"
bruh
This man down bad. But I get it.
This dragon is my all time favorite! I'm excited to see her get coverage!
Water deep council: So we all agree to just leave the ancient green dragon alone as its just curious, into tv drama, and hasn't really done too much to harm us, lest we be bathed in hellfire and petty antics.
Silverymoon, not waterdeep
Just imagine if this dragon had modern earth Internet access. She'd easily have volunteer harem servants.
She will become total NEET and addicted to otome game.
Oathbreaker paladin: "So-"
Necromancer: "*DON'T*! Don't. I won't hear it. I won't fucking hear it from you. This time I know that this one is not only real but an actual villain with magical powers. So shut up. We're almo-"
Claugiyliamatar: *Dancing in the mismatched polymorph form of both human and dragon.* "Wish I could be... Part of that world!"
Priestess of Luthic: "No." *Turns and begins leaving.*
Looks like he is doing the dragons that showed up in the Mtg set…
What campaign is this?
@kdi17il were doing homebrew at this point. We did a bunch of the modules up until tyranny of dragons

green dragons are known for being master maniplators and training their children to be the same, man this dragon has given me some great ideas
I love her. I love her so much...
Thank you for introducing her to me .
I agree, she is the one chromatic dragon i'd like to befriend.
That story with the noble family is so amazing. One thing I'm wondering about is how could she get anywhere near the mansion, when all dragons are magically barred from entering Waterdeep? I really wanna know...
pay off the warden
@@fourfours9928 Yeah the power of money
I dont remember her name but she is known as the Wyrm of many spells and was a rival of the original Blackstaff who if im not mistaken was the only person able to give a Dragon access to Waterdeep and could take it away at any time and yet she can come and go whenever she wants even in her Dragon form so its not just her shapeshifting
so basically silvermoon tricked an anciant dragon into becoming that old lady thats addicted to soap operas?
lmfao
So she's bassicaly a very petty fangirl
I love her
"So- this is my human sona- she has long black hair and is beautiful and smart and is secretly a powerful green dragon-" Claugiyliamatar probably.
Man.. that makes me want to (if given the chance) to be a level 17+ wizard and do the true polymorph into an ancient Bronze Dragon + clone to be reborn as a chromatic dragon and she’d be able to use the same polymorph that allows you to retain abilities.
Great video, love to see it. Any chance we get Klauth, the Old Snarl, anytime soon?
Klauth is next! Should be out in about 3 or 4 days :D
@@MrRhexx i remember him...wasnt he presumebly killed by the hero of neverwinter in the search for the words of power?
@@MrRhexx Dat bitch absolutely shrekt me in Neverwinter Nights until I finally got wise and stopped trying to kill him. lol
@@dakotastein9499 Not sure if him being alive or killed is canon. I'm presuming the Hero of Neverwinter left him alive, canonically.
These named dragon videos are my new favorite, love it
Love the ancient named dragon videos! Im in a 2nd ed Dnd game, and about to hop into the faerun game world to start chasing down these legendary dragons. Your videos definitely give me inspiration for tactics lol.
I love the elfs made "Lords and Ladys" for Claugiyliamatar, that is the absolute best
First of all dragons do not fear her scheming so much as they know she already has a scheme set up in case they f around and wanna find out. lol An icon
She is addicted to Real Housewives of Faerun
Wishes power, drama and a harem of naked guys never thought I would relate to a green dragon so much
These dragon videos are so go, each dragon is more and more fun. I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS FOR ALL OF THEM!
I had the pleasure to DM an Epic with Claugy as the BBEG.
I was so happy to see you post a video about her
DM should give players +5 on persuasion rolls for just pronouncing any of these dragon's names correctly
Love these ancient dragon videos.
Hi Rhexx I’ve been a sub to you for a few years now and I’m excited for your kickstarter
This is why green dragons are my favourites. Cunningly beautiful
This is my favorite series yet
Jesus, that is an amazing plan. Literally all she has to do is be a good mom for a human lifetime and she gets what she wants and maybe more seeing as she's mom to a massive cabal of mages that owe everything to her. Heck, she even gets by on the idea that she could just say that all the "evil" they hear about her doing is just rumor and character assassination by her enemies and rivals.
She might be one of my favorite of the great dragons so far. I'd love to include her in a campaign.
THIS! This is what dragons are about! Absolutely hilarious and also awesome, great video!
Really looking forwards to getting my hands on this book! Keep up the amazing work!
Yes, yes, yes…. It’s always a good day when we get a new vid from MrRhexx!
I had a blast running Claugiy in my Storm Kings Thunder game, can't wait to bring her back in one of my other campaigns. Thanks Rhexx!
She can also cast as an 8th level druid, and can innately cast Invisibility, Legend Lore, Protection From Energy and True Seeing each once per day.
keep staying creative man i love it.
"When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love, love to explore those coastal towns up above?
Out of these trees
Wish I could be
Part of that world"
Thank you! I treasure every one of these deep dives into dnd lore!
This video made me love Old Gnawbone as much as i love Arveiaturace !
like arveiaturace was my favourit dragon ever but gnawbone is just amazing
I love the fact they created an epic drama for Claugi. I 100% guarantee you that it would be better than any intrigue series ever created in our modern day. 😂🤣🤘🏼 awesomeness
Love your videos and products. Just signed up for your Kickstarter too!
Hell yea! Gotta love these dragon vids! I want to fight all of them bit this one in particular sounds like a super fun campaign.
Thanks, Mr. Rhexx.
Loving this named dragon series. Please keep it going.
Congrats on the new project!
I'm currently out of work but hopefully that will change soon, if it does I'll definitely be pledging. It's a really cool premise!
She is absolutely my favorite dragon of all time!! Thank you for the video brother 🤘👍
@MrRhexx sir, you have really out did yourself. This video is great and the research in it must’ve been extensive. I’m casually listening to this on my way to&from work and I’ll definitely jam this again on a lazy Saturday morning, again. Hat’s off to you🎉
This is what deep dive into a character backstory is about. You got this down bruv.
Mr Rhexx: I apologize for the video delays!
Me, a CGP Grey fan: * tears * bless your soul 🥲
Wait so she wants to be a humanoid the most but seeks to kill adventures who would probably be willing to find an artifact that would polymorph her at will if she only feigned that she was "born into the wrong body, cursed with an evil upbringing that she's tried so hard to outgrow."
Bad WotC bad. But the idea of an evil dragon basically being the annoying "Karen" is hilarious to me.
That probably would be the plot device for an adventure...
Born in the wrong body, cursed with an evil upbringing that she’s tried so hard to outgrow…. So said every 2ed drow lol
Whaat, petty know it all beings that sometimes act unreasonable and prideful? Never heard of that one before mate
@@TengrioftheCrimsonSky I think its completely fine and in the lines of making enough sense to accept, but each to their own I guess. Cheers
Definitely one of the more Interesting Dragons. Love this series
Welcome back we need more
Our party recently fought Claugliamatar. And it was one hell of a boss fight
In a previous fight with an ancient Red Dragon, unbeknownst to us, she was scrying us, studying our battle tactics.
6:41 soooOO00OOooo someone with an artifact that has a True Polymorph has a better than even chance of parlaying with her. Or an Artificer with something that can allow her to toggle forms.
Bro I’m backing asap!!!!!!! Can’t wait omg yes
So she's super petty, has her own reverse harem, spends all day watching waterdeep the soap opera and dreams of being a "real" woman.
I think we have our first Trans-dragon. I love that she's physically strong but prefers trickery.
Thanks for the info research. Running SKT, and the players may (or may not) seek Old Gnawbone for wisdom. You just gave a bunch of inspiration!!
I found these dragons like Klauth, “Old Gnawbone” and Tiamat from Magic The Gathering where they’re all really great cards for decks. It’s really neat how they each have deep expansive lore in DnD as well
When you get to Klauth, as I'm sure you will, please cover the fact that he's insanely huge. I feel like almost every source that talks about him never mentions in writing the fact that he's like 600 feet long.
