최근 노인인구가 급증하면서 중풍, 치매 등 노인성 질환이 증가하는 반해, 전문치료를 위한 의료시설은 부족하다. 서울시노인전문병원은 중산층 이하의 의료취약 계층이 이용할 수 있는 노인전문병원이다. 노인 병원시설에 대한 사회적 편견과 기존의 병원이미지를 탈피한 형태와 공간으로 도시 맥락에 순응하는 새로운 병원 유형을 계획했다. 대지의 레벨차를 적극 활용해 동선과 다양한 외부공간을 계획했다.
The Hospital specializes in care for the elderly, and it is open to seniors of low-income groups. It broke social prejudices about the hospitals for aged people and the existing image of the hospitals by planning a new form, space and type of the hospital, which adapts to the city environment. Traffic lines and various exterior spaces were planned using differences of levels of the site.
