Today we’re painting a pair of Koi fish in real time, using acrylic paint on an 12x18” canvas primed with gesso and the following colours and brushes:
Titanium white
Light ultramarine blue
Hookers green hue
Viridian green
Neon orange
Neon yellow warm
Yellow ochre
Neon red
Scarlet or crimson red
Black
Liner
Filbert - small and large

I followed the tutorial and painted the koi. I’m not an experienced painter at all, but the picture turned out pretty good, I’d say. It’s not all that hard, but it does take time and patience. Thank you for the tutorial. Your pictures are wonderful!

Somehow the video is so bright it makes the rest of my phone screen darken and I switched to different videos, turned off my phone and then back on again, and even switched my phone from dark mode to light mode and it still does it and to this video only

Could I use a different colour than green for the background? If I used a navy blue or something?
Absolutely! I personally think cobalt or ultramarine blue with lighter and darker shades, would be amazing and so complimentary with the fish colours

Thank you! Yes, I do seal my paintings with either Matt semi gloss or high gloss by liquitex basics or Gamblin gamvar

How do you load the brush and paint the fins to be translarent? Especially the right fin on the right fish.
Less paint and a bit of water will make it transparent. Make sure the first layer is dry though

You can use Thalo green or add a bit of blue :)
I would really love the tutorial for the painting on the back wall top left! It almost looks like the top left corner of the koi fish canvas is touching it! I can't find it anywhere!

Yes for sure! It will take longer to dry though, adding highlights and shadows will be different from how I’ve applied them in acrylic
