With the iridescent medium, water, gum arabicum and mica powder I make my own wink of Stella. Just mix it and leave it in a watertankbrush. Shake before use and enjoy

I found adding a bit of white pearl mica powder (or gold worked too) to any color will make it metallic. You make need more of the original color but it works just fine if you are out of the mica powder you want. So if you don't have iridescent medium, try that.

Really like this idea. With regard to the pink showing blue on the black, it might be that you've used an interference mica powder which will show as one colour on white and a totally different colour on black.

Hi Ann. Do you know that the brush you are using, the barrel can be unscrewed and filled with water. The water is dispensed by squeezing the barrel slightly. It is much easier to use that way.

I use Liquitex's brand of Iridescent Medium, but I think they're both the same. I use just a drop with water & gum arabic inside my waterbrush pen for a DIY of wink of stella. But I've never thought of using the Iridescent Medium to make watercolor paint look metallic. Great idea! Thanks Ann! And thanks Kitty, for inspecting the water bowl! 😊 Janet 💕

I was watching an artist make their own paints they also added honey. Just some more info for you incase you do make your own. So pleased you are back making great video's for us. Take care xxx

I got the gum Arabic few years ago and then never used it. Can you use regular pigment powders like Brushos and some of those. I just like the intensity of some of those colors. I can always add some shimmer powder in it if I want the shine.

I watched video's recently showing mixing of cosmic shimmer opal polishes on white and black cards and oh boy I couldn't believe it was the same colour as the transformation of some of the shades were magic particularly on the black cards.
The black most definitely changed many of the colours and made them pop. The rainbow effect cards and die cuts were nice as was embossing.
I have never tried them but i was most definitely in awe of the transformation. The swatch sample cards were an eye opener.
I wondered whether old metallic eye shadow might work as well. Tfs Ann x

I really like your tips and tricks. I will try it with my mica powders. Are you sure that the ingredients of the blending solution are only isopropyl and glycerin. I think Tim Holtz talked also about something like a resin inside of the solution. But I am not sure. I tried isopropyl and glycerin with alcohol inks and it didn’t work the same. With the blending solution the mixture of colours were much better. But perhaps I made a mistake with my own mixture.
Your own mica shimmer colours in your palette are amazing. Such a good idea. Thank you for sharing.
