- In this reggae effects lesson on how to use a wah pedal in reggae. I look at the position of the wah pedal and the different techniques used by reggae guitarist.
The lesson looks at the high pitch and the low pitch organ like sound that is use with the wah to create the reggae effect. It then looks at how both can be used to produce an even more compelling playing style.
The wah effect is mainly used in the rhythm section by reggae musicians. To give the sound warmth, dimension and body. However, it can also be used when playing lead guitar and it also works wonderfully when doing dub.
Any wah pedal can be used or even multi-effects pedals. it all comes down to taste.
In the lesson on reggae effects using the wah, I have also use a some reverb and some delay towards the end of the video. This was done to show how these effects can be combined to produce a nice sound that is good for reggae dub.
The A♯ minor scale and key were used. The other reggae chords were: G♯ major, F♯ major and F minor.

Sounds gooodt...im a new lead player i need aome advice on what amp to get and the foot pedal u have im trying to do something different...what pedal is this
Fenders are good, so are the Roland Katanas. For great tone get a valve up - a bit heavy though - The blues Junior is light, look into that. Others may wish to comment. Start off with a multi effects to see what affects you like and then get individual stomp boxes and build from there. Hope that helps peace and love.
Love this! True authentic stylee
This is great. I just bought the 360 can you make a video how to program it for these sounds? And how to you "alternate" between the too? Are you pressing preset buttons with your feet? Thanks man. Great video!
Thank you for that tutorial
Ty very much for sharing this. I was wondering if wah pedal is used at all in reggae because a band where im in like to play reggae. What you think of playing dead notes between the tschaka?
Its's a good idea. I don't see why not.
Great sound! Is there a way to get the "naked" riddims you use? Would be great to practice over. 👍

Ey! Thank you so much for this video! Could you show me how you set the pedal to sound like yours? I have the same and i’m learning how to use it 👍
Should be in one of the videos!
Very nice!

Thanks so much my friend! Love the beautiful guitar!! I've been wanting to learn how to pla reggae for a long time! you helped demystify it a bit! I just got a Squier Standard Strat and now I'm gonna have to get a wah pedal... and delay... do you also use any other pedals such as a volume? lastly, would you say a lot of reggae chucks like that are played in off minor/sharp keys compared to majors? One Love
Greetings bredda... do you only use the rp360 for all of your effects? I would like to start using FX on my guitar and don't know where to start. you sound great and I am wondering if I can get enough from one multi fx pedal...

Hi. Thanks for the great video! Do you think a wah pedal is necessary for playing rocksteady? On another note, are you a cricket fan? Go Tallawahs!
@@playreggaeguide Thanks for the reply!
Bonita guitarra
parabens amigo..... material muito bonito.... toco na banda filadelfia roots e esse video vai me ajudar bastante para meu crescimento no reggae
Hi there. Correct me if I’m wrong but your pickups look like they are adjusted so the Bass side is high (closer to strings) and treble side lower (further from strings).
If so is it intentional? Is it to get a fuller / warmer / cleaner sound?
I have recently adjusted my Telecasters pickups purely by ear and found my pickups are like this with the bridge treble flush with the bridge plate. All contrary to Fender specs etc.
hola puedes decirme que pastillas son las de esa guitarra? quiero comprarme unas para reggae ska, he leído que las de bobina simple van mejor...pero estoy investigando un poco en función de las pastillas que usa la gente en este tipo de vídeos. saludos
My crybaby wah pedal.. i cannot find a way to regulate it to the other pedals or the guitar itself...if I turn it on when I need, it changes the volumes and pitches of everything.. do guitar players leave it half open, full open or full closed when not using it?
hi can you share the patch settings? i use the same RP360xp :)
Sorry I don't have the unit anymore.
So this is all done by reverb and wah pedal?
Yes indeed!
can we use it with other pedal sir? thankyou
Yes, you can use a wah pedal wiith other stomp boxes (pedals).
Is this dub available anywhere? I really wanna buy it.
what are the chords starting at 2:22?
What's the pedal u using
I think that was the old Digitech RP 360
I was wondering if you could take a look at this video and let me know what effects he is using. ruclips.net/video/RCnnaGWTHwA/видео.html at 2:30 it is very pronounced. He doesn't use it all the time usually just as an accent. Seems like wah in a certain position with lots of delay? Thanks!
By the way I am talking about the lead singer and the loud skank he makes not the lead guitarist. I can see him push a pedal so I figured you would know.
How To Play Reggae Awesome, thanks for the reply and the info. I think you are correct about the spring reverb. Now that I go back and watch other live videos I can see he is playing a fender. Thank you sir!
To play reggae, press the strings with your fingers or just support them. that's my doubt
Same doubt here. Pressing is more dificult to me 😭
