  • What food dyes are in your candy? Is black ink really black? What gives fall leaves their color? These are all questions that you can investigate using paper chromatography - a technique that can separate mixtures into their individual components. This video explains how paper chromatography works, walks you through each step of a paper chromatography experiment, and provides tips and tricks for troubleshooting. We also introduce a couple of fun science projects that you can do using paper chromatography. You can find written instructions for these projects on our website at www.sciencebuddies.org/scienc....

    In general paper chromatography is a great method to find out what kind of substances is present in a sample mixture

    I did this in my chemistry class and did so many things wrong that I was like it’s the worst experiment ever! Turns out when I looked over the procedure again and if I were to do it without the teacher’s eyes under me the whole time, I would have found this experiment very fun and rewarding😊

    Can we use A4 paper instead of filter paper

    • @Science.Buddies
      @Science.Buddies  2 года назад +8

      Hi - we recommend using the filter paper for this experiment. Printer paper will not work. You can use white coffee filters or thick paper towels but they will not work as well as the filter paper.
