The wizard duel with Gandalf is so much more raw than the weird CGI Jedi fight in the Hobbit. Every hit feels like it hurts so much. I wish they'd kept that impact over the fancy choreography.
this is exactly why I hold that fight above anything in the Star Wars prequels that also came out around the same time as LOTR, since you mention Jedi as a comparison

When I saw Saruman fighting alongside Galadriel and Elrond in Dolguldur I was excited as hell

@@havershelihavershelisir Christopher Lee was over 90 in that fight scene in dol Goldur. I heard the cast flew to London just to include Christopher Lee in this scene. Its one of his last film appearance before he died the following year

This is the first time I saw the translation for what the two wizards were saying at Caradhras. Amazing.
One speaking in Qenyan and the other one speaking in Sindarin
I previously though Saruman was casting a weather spell and Gandalf was trying to cast a counter spell. Actually they are commanding the mountain caradhras to either kill or to sleep
I love the way Gandalf seems to glow after he completely no sells Saruman’s fireball

His talents helped to reduce the SFX budget.
Fun fact: Christopher Lee in interviews spoke of how it would feel to be stabbed in the back during his takes on Saruman’s death scene up on the tower. Peter Jackson even reminiscing about how Christopher Lee spoke of how he served in the British Special Forces.
So I suppose you could add to the weakness of Knives, lol.
Lee’s voice was as strong as ever at age 89 during these scenes, great acting especially given it was against a green screen without the others who were across the world in New Zealand.
Man imagine if Sean Connery actually accepted the role of gandalf rather than choosing the league of extraordinary gentleman that ruined his movie career and made him retire but still great man. R.I.P Mr. Connery
Connery, with all respect to him, had a big ego and wasn't very cooperative. Most likely, the result would've been the same as it is now, but we would've been robbed of McKellen's great performance as Gandalf.

@@AllPowersExplained In my opinion, persuasive speech is more like a skill and mind control is a power. But your vidéo is still great! :) And maybe you can also say he is a master alchemist because he invented black powder to make explosives.
@@jijijoker1287 as the Head of the White Council, prior to Gandalf, and the chief of the Wizards, Saruman was well-versed in magic, able to create his own Uruk-hai, forges, and explosives, as well as the power to bend almost any mind to his will, simply through his speech.
