You might like some prog and a lot of jazz fusion my guy! Several Zappa lineups have great horn sections, Grand Wazoo reminds me a lot of Budos Band especially. Van Der Graaf Generator is one of my all time favs and never get mentioned much, the sax player would often use two at once and they just have such a unique sound especially the singer’s voice and the way they play keys/horns.
I was thinking to myself man, I thought Budos band was younger. Then i realized how long ive been listening to them and how long ago i saw them live. I too am old and gray now.
We've met a few times and shared some laughs. Can confirm he's as humble and cool as they get along with being one of the greats. Tommy is basically the modern Steve Cropper.
My Boys from NYC!! Love seeing their Success!! Love the groove and Love Them Horns!! Andrew Looking at You Mang! 👍🤟 Budos Band ! Best Band of the 21st Century!
This is the very definition of 'party music'. Seen this band numerous times and every single show remains at my top favorite list for concerts. LEGENDS.
Okay, but I never thought of the "Budos Band" as "party music" . A great band for jamming and scoring films, but "party" no. Did you see anybody dancing?
@@Duane-tl2zc ~ I've played this band at parties...everyone danced, everytime. Every concert I saw them in...people were dancing. You don't appear to understand where they were playing or the setup.
Comparable bands actually provided live music to dances in the 40s, 50s and 60s before "canned music" became common, and dance music subsequently turned more and more electronic. A nice throwback to those times. They really now what they're doing, and I'd say it isn't that easy to make engaging instrumental music.
@@user-zy5dp8fl8n I hear you, but maybe I reacted when dude said "the definition of a party band"? They more like a, hmmm. Afro Beat orchestra? I ain't hatin though. I know they the sh*t, I just never considered them "party" more "jam". There is a difference.😏
Alto Sax resonates to the depths of my soul and the scream of the trumpet, sooooo goood. They’re all so amazing. Found these guys by accidentally. Serendipity!!!!!
That was just beautiful. I cried tears of joy with those horns during the second song. You all make sweet music together ! …and that shirt the hostess is wearing is off the hook!
really fucking awesome!! last time i heard something this good was in 2001 - album called "keb darge presents the new mastersounds". cheers from croatia.
Just start and the beginning and work forward. If you want to hear older stuff when they were into AfroBeat, I believe some members were in The Poets Of Rhythm and made great instrumental music. They've moved more towards acid rock in the years since.
Damn. I remember what some of you were doing prior to the Budos Band. I had no idea you formed such an amazing group. I feel like I failed as a fan of good music. The way you have meshed so many different genres of music is outstanding. Please come to Atlanta in 2024. Wow. just beautiful stuff. thank you, yet again, KEXP.

even their song names are badass
Quentin Tarantino needs to make one more movie just to give the Budos Band reason to compose the soundtrack.
Amen!!!!!!!
Them and Khruangbin should share a soundtrack
The bass guitar player’s tone is pure gold🎸
Flats on frets
Saw them last night in Rotterdam, was insane live as wel
ΖΥΘΟΣ ΠΟΙΟΤΗΤΟΣ ΜΑΜΟΣ ...Great Band...great t-shirt greetings from Greece

I always feel like im in a cool ass movie when I listen to them.
Yeah man, like a 70’s action movie. Totally have always thought the same.
You are.
Def 007 vibes eh?!
Alamo Drafthouse probably owes them a ton of royalties. I swear they play Budos Band constantly as their theme music for pre-show promo/info clips.
When rockers that like jazz meet jazz players who like rock. This is beyond cool

With a pinch of fela kuti
These men have SOUL! Would love to see these guys come to Texas
its cool to see them playing live, i don't think they have ever made a bad song in their entire discography 😍
This is the soundtrack for the montage of clips as you get the old gang back together for one last heist…
I dig your visionary skills. Yes. I am ready to drive the van.
You son of a b* , I'm in!
I watched that bass player kick a cell phone out of a fans hands one time. Legend.
Only an a-hole would do that.
This is the way !
Dan don't F around!
agree with the enjoy the moment but violence is never the solution, not cool
Why would he do that? Did he think he was famous or something?
I'm a super Budos-Band-fan since 2013
Every tume is a theme song some point in your day. The best ever!
That saxophone makes my soul vibrate in chocolate. I know that doesn't make any sense but that's how it feels.
It makes sense.
Somebody might take this to mean it was so good that it made you shit your pants. 😂
It completely makes sense
And the base makes my bellybutton dance among the stars.
Agreed
I was thinking to myself man, I thought Budos band was younger. Then i realized how long ive been listening to them and how long ago i saw them live. I too am old and gray now.
Thomas brennick is such an incredible modern soul guitar player. If it was the 60s everyone would have posters of him on their wall
We've met a few times and shared some laughs. Can confirm he's as humble and cool as they get along with being one of the greats. Tommy is basically the modern Steve Cropper.
Dark Tommy is the man!!
Yeah, definitely ✌🏼
budos, menahan and charles bradley.. my favs ❤️
Absolutely!
Just listened to it 15 times
You can practically smell this band. It's what a rare but really damn good high feels like
They'd stink for sure
Their bass player is a hero. I never get bored watching him live.
True that he's crazy at what he does
I thought Nick Movshon was the bassist
Yeah, and love the sound he gets out of that cool old Gibson bass!
@@amendez7 Movshon plays for Menahan Street Band among other groups. Daniel has always been the Budos bass player.
The SG style bass is crazy slept on, I have an Epiphone EB-3 and it’s fantastic @@josephdejarnette5143
What a joy to discover a new band on a Saturday morning. Now I get to spend my weekend getting Budos-ified. This is great stuff.
