Actually, a while back in 91 or 92, Shawn was selling pictures and workout videos at the Huntington Beach Powerhouse Gym. i remember telling him that I was a fan, but too broke to even buy his picture. He ended up giving me, a total stranger to him, both the signed picture and the video for free. How cool is that?! That is not "being cheap" by any definition of the word. I still have the picture, the VHS tape and the wonderful memory of the kind gesture.
Therefore, no matter what anybody says about Shawn, he will always be alright in my book.

I'm going to be honest, I've heard a ton of Shawn slander (especially from Chris Aceto) and I definitely bought into it. Putting all things aside, he seems like a good dude who is incredibly passionate about bodybuilding and I'm super glad I finally got to hear him talk on a long form piece of content. Great podcast!

Mike Quinn talked (back in the 80s) about his issues with alcohol , drugs and depression back in the 80s. This was not in reflection but at the actual time.
He spoke about spiraling after being denied an IFBB pro card after winning his height class at the NABBA 1984 Universe and being forced to qualify at the 1987 NPC Mr USA. He spoke about this person (I can't remember his name) who helped him detox and got him back in the gym.
I would definitely watch a video of you 4 training at golds gym right now… it’ll be so entertaining

It's just that he is very outspoken and doesn't sugar coat things. So he ruffles ppl's feathers when he gives his critiques, especially when it's the person he's critiquing. But he does it cuz that's his job, that's all.

I've heard enuff former pro bodybuilders say derogitive comment's abt Shawn Ray. So him chatting sh*t about his era having thicker skin as CCormier say he's talks BS. In general i wanna see Shawn on pod casts as he adds a dynamic & view point which potentially makes shows more entertaining. A very different persona revealed on a recent Jay Cutler pod cast?
This is without doubt the best bodybuilding podcast. Hany Rambods podcast is a close second. RX Muscle is dead last.
