  • A comparison of these 2 very popular clip-on instrument tuners. Both are very sweet tuners. Won't go wrong with either.

    Very well done, I especially appreciate the demos for speed of response and sight angles... thank you! (I've been using Snark tuners for 6 years... never had a problem with them and very happy with accuracy and response... I will stay with Snark)

    I recently add a Kliq tuner as a clip on in addition to my Korg plug in. I have been very impressed with the functionality of this tuner. The Kliq is quick to read the tone and give a nice easy to see visual image on the screen. Can be mounted to see read out in front or behind headstock. Easy to adjust with a nice padded clip to protect the instruments finish. Very satisfied customer.

    I have both of these as well, and I generally prefer the Ubertuner. It's just less touchy. When I use it, I know that I can get my guitar closer to perfect tuning and spend less time fiddling with a tuner that can't make up it's mind about it being sharp or flat. I suppose from a certain perspective, the Snark SN8 is better because it's "more accurate" with the pitch fluctuations of the string, but that throws me off. I like that the Ubertuner smooths/averages it out more.
    It also seems much better built. I've had several Snarks break on me, and have seen Snarks that friends had break as well. It usually breaks at the three triangular pieces of plastic holding the ball joint in place. If one of those break, it's basically useless. You can try taping or gluing it back together as a temporary fix, but I feel that the Ubertuner will be less prone to this issue because it removes the ball joint and separates it into two independent hinges.
    The one downside is the time it takes to turn on. However, I recently discovered that I don't have to keep holding once the bars starts moving (start-up/shut-down progress). As soon as it lights up when turning on or changes from tuning mode to shutting down, release, and it will continue on it's own. I didn't realize that till messing with it more today. This cuts the time I have to hold the power button from four to two seconds.
    The Snark SN8 is still a fantastic tuner, and a decent step up from other Snark tuners I think (more flexible, more stable readout, clearer display etc), but it also still has the same joint design, so I try to keep that as my "at home tuner" so it doesn't break in my bag (also because it starts up faster), and use the Ubertuner when I need something more sturdy (for traveling) or more accurate (for recording).

    Nice Demo. I love the Snark SN-8. I bought one, and ( so far ) I am Very Impressed with it. Super Fast, Bright & Accurate. You just have to be very careful with it, as it's - Not The Most Durable . . . but it really does the job. For the Price - its an Incredible Value. - Michael Caz - NYC - Update: I purchased a Hard Case for my Snark on Amazon = still in Pristine Condition August 2020.

    I think the Kliq power switch is designed like that so it doesn't accidentally turn it on when it's in your bag.

      Terrible Feature on Kliq. You need to be able to Tune Instantaneously. That would drive me crazy. The Push Hold / Shut-off Hold is Terrible on the Kliq.

    The push and hold function to power on the KLIQ is valuable when you travel with the tuner a lot. It prevents it from accidentally turning on and unnecessary battery drainage. I suppose if you're just using it at home, it would seem unnecessarily slow.

    • @KOOLDELI
      @KOOLDELI Год назад

      UM, IT HAS AN AUTO TURN-OFF FEATURE AFTER A FEW SECONDS, HOW WOULD IT DRAIN YOU BATTERY? AND IF YOU'RE NOT TRAVELING AND JUST PLAYING LOCAL-LIVE EVERY SECOND COUNTS BETWEEN SONGS FOR A TUNING CHECK. BAD/UNNECESSARY HOLD FUNCTION. THUMBS DOWN !

    The Kliq has a great display their not the same plus the tuning accuracy is ±1 cent. The Kliq display provides a wealth of information visually on the display and is great for different tunings so I stopped using my Snark. The other issue I have with the Snark is that they come apart easily. If I’m not using the Kliq I will either use the Peterson Strobe Tuner or the TC Electronic Polytune both clip ons.

    I love being able to see whether it's in tune or not too!

      Yep, they do. I've had at least one, possibly two break on me, and I've seen a friend's break in the same way. The plastic triangles holding in the ball joint are usually the first thing to go, although I think I've seen the stem break too. The Ubertuner seems much more sturdy.

    The Snark is called an "all-instrument" tuner, but after I bought mine I discovered it wouldn't transpose the full range, so it wasn't useful to me--not really "all instruments" after all. I wish retailers would say that in their specs. I'm looking at the Kliq for that reason: they indicate its range: "C, F, B-flat, E-flat."

    LET ME GIVE YOU A TIP HERE. LET GO OF THE TUNER WHEN YOUR PLUCKING THE STRING. HAVING YOUR FINGERS ON IT WILL INTERFERE WITH THE VIBRATION OF THE HEAD STOCK AND THEREFORE THE TUNER.

  • @normanspurgeon5324
    @normanspurgeon5324 3 года назад

    I disagree totally as far as your comments about accuracy- It's critically important to be in tune- Not "real close, real quick". The Uber tuner does print it's accuracy- to 1 cent- that's good. Snark keeps that figure to itself. They do not reveal the accuracy of their tuners. What they expect, is that when the green light goes off, it will be therapeutic, and cause happiness.

  • @cliffordhauenstein7425

    I'll take the KLIQ. I've had a couple Snark tuners and found them to be very weak when it comes to tuning the E string on a bass. The snarks that I've had gave me a false reading on my E
    E string almost every time. I would also have to allow the screen to completely clear itself each time i tried to check the E string. They seemed to work on the other strings but the E string was always a struggle with the Snark...with the KLIQ tuning every string is no problem at all. From the E to the G the KLIQ gets every string every time. I'll stick with the KLIQ.

    I was sold on the Kliq..until you pointed out the the power button location and start-up delay. Not very practical...a deal breaker for me because I like the sturdiness. I have tried many clip-on tuners and all seem to have their own minor faults. The new Snark HZ seemed good but when I bought one I found the clip spring is weak. Also you often turn the tuning pegs but and reading stays the same. Very frustrating. I think the best all-round compromise so far ( for bass and guitar) is the Snark SN 8 Super Tight. Thanks for the informative video.

    I’m biased and a huge fan of snark tuners I have a super snark 2 and it is the only tuner I’ll ever use it can adapt for tuning with a capo on the 1st through 4th frets and ha a metronome setting ang I can change the pitch Hz my only complaint is that it isn’t the most durable tuner

    Based on what I saw, I choose the Snark. The Kliq has a distracting display, and it looks like it gives too early of an in-tune lock. I too prefer the fluctuating display. That tells you the truth.

      In electronics, more game>less accuracy=cheap component, this guy is a total noob, he gives his opinion based on himself alone, I play the trumpet, and I travel a lot, so the 3 secs delay is pretty valuable for me, if it can measure the same thing but faster without struggling, there is a good electronic

      4 Snarks in 15 yrs. 1 Kliq in 3 yrs but I so depend on this everywhere I go with a guitar. My 12 string I take to the beach in a backpack case also loaded with Capo, extra strings big garbage bag to cover in heavy rain, batteries for both this guitar and Amp that's battery pwred. Don't ever worry about breaking this 1 and that's what's most important to me. Like Kliq so much I got a used Kliq mini tuner on my board. I don't feel it is as accurate as the headstock tuner though. Must be the vibrations the headstock gets cause the floor pedal is sharp the smallest bit, not enough for me to even be concerned with.

    THE POSITION OF THE POWER BUTTON ON THE KLIQ SUCKS. ON THE SIDE? REALLY? NOT GOOD! WHEN I POSITION THIS TUNER ON THE "BACK" OF MY HEADSTOCK, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH BECAUSE IT TOO FREAKIN CLOSE TO THE HEADSTOCK. IF IT WAS ON THE BOTTOM IT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE. OTHER FEATURES ARE OK BUT ALSO HOLDING THE "ON" BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS IS A JOKE ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M PLAYING LIVE AND I HAVE TO CHECK MY TUNING BETWEEN SONGS. RE-THINK YOUR DESIGN KLIQ. (SORRY FOR THE CAPS :-))
