I just about to learn making my very first terrarium and have been having this kind of idea of a water feature in it for several weeks without even being aware that it is called paludarrum, and today I accidentally came across your video! I'm so excited to start on my lil project now that I can learn directly here 😍😍😍
I love this one... I can't wait to try it. Thank you for putting all the information underneath the "more" section, this was totally helpful... Ur a Dream 💝.
@@TerrariumDesigns I really did. So many “how to” videos are full of endless drivel that I end up just not watching them. This was straight forward and to the point with great details. ☺️
Awesome video! I have never made a paludarium but I want to. I was just wondering if I could make one and leave the lid off to help prevent mold. Or do I need to leave the lid on for it to work?
I have stumbled upon this video and I'm blown away. I have kept aquariums before but now I live in a tiny apartment with cats that like to hunt a lot! This video is giving me some ideas that are perfect to scratch that itch. Do I have to water it or is it self sustained? I am to build a small squared version (10x10x15cm) do I have to have a lid? Thx in advance
Thank you! Yes a lid is recommended to trap the humidity for the moss & plants. It will need very infrequent watering & I do water changes every week or so, but other then that it’s relatively maintenance free. You should definitely have a gig at making one!😃
I have tried making terrariums and paludariums like theese but the majority of the plants would die off because of overwatering. How do I know when the tank has enough water?
Hello, got a question. I have many house plant and working on a terrarium, it has a opening that can't be close. will the springtail's hurt my other plants?
No springtails won’t hurt the plants at all:) you can always cover the opening with something like a clear acrylic disc or Saran wrap if you’re still worried
bro i live in a dry area, the plant species I can find are also limited. How can I make a paludarium cheaply and profitably? Can you make a video about it? Goodtimes.
If it’s a bit bigger than this I think you can add tiny aquatic snails to clean up algae, but if it’s way bigger than you might be able to add shrimp and other small fish
I have a question I have a large jar and I am trying to make my first paludarium but the jar opening is a little tight but enough to fit stuff in and my hand but I am missing super for large rocks I have and what i want to ask is it ok to use large rocks and for the wall and is it fine if the water are is a little small
This is all of your preference - that's the beauty of it! If the jar opening is too small, try to use tweezers, he has a great toolset for like $10 in the description. As long as your water isn't touching the soil you're fine!
Well at least if it's a closed terrarium (with a lid) because It will just have its own atmosphere which is pretty cool because u don't have to water it at all
I love paludariums! I'm excited about the possibility of starting Small.
Yes the small ones are super fun to make & a great way to get started😃
I'd love to see an update on how this system is doing and how you care for it!

What a lovely build! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like it!
Your channel and book has been a huge inspiration! 😊
So cute!! I really enjoyed watching you make this, I am excited to make my own and this made it seem much easier. I feel much more confident now!
This is beautiful makes me think about to start one. Thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍
No problem! Thank you for watching:)
Wow! So beautiful and so clearly explained! Thank you. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it😃

Thanks so much my centipedes are a lot happier now because of you

Nice ! How often do u have to change the water ?
Very great video
I have one question. How comes fresh air in the paludarium?
photosynthesis
The water won’t get stagnant dirty and smelly?
we definitely need an update
I have spare coffee jar and want to make a terrarium so I might try this
I was wondering if a paludarium like this could be a thing!!!!
Can you share the size of the glass jar you recommend? I would like to start small scale for my first paludarium. Thanks!
This looks amazing-
Thank you!!
Does the water get dirty after a week? Because I saw on another comment that you change it once a week? Or do the springtails take care of that too?
Pretty cool
How often does it need to be cleaned to prevent mold?
Not at all if I have a clean up crew like springtails and woodlouse
*isopods
you dont need to because the springtais will eat the mold
I like this channel 😊
Are water changes required for this set up and how often should they be done?
Great work! May I know what kind of animals can paludariums of this size can hold, if any? (Aside from spring tails)
Snails
@@flyingdutchman_NL thanks!
@@Non123_ you're welcome :)
Are the springtails essential for the survival or is it optional because I don’t have any and im not allowed to get any🤔
Yes they are. Mold and other stuff will grow without them killing the palladarium
Love it
I wanna do one like this as will if I wanna keep it long term how often would you recommend changing the water or is it even necessary??
Will algae damage a palladium, or do you not want it since it looks bad?
Where do you recommend buying plants and animals at?
I have tried making terrariums and paludariums like theese but the majority of the plants would die off because of overwatering. How do I know when the tank has enough water?
The key is to keep the substrate damp but not wet. Using something like a fine mist spray bottle really helps
amazing

awesome

Hey! I like that idea! A native paludarium build🤔 thanks😃
Wtf do you mean profitably
❤❤❤
can you take moss from the nature outside or will it not grow?
You can but it’s a case of trial & error:)
Hello, how can I prevent the substrate from becoming soaked with water? I have a drainage layer but it releases the water to the substrate.
Did you do water changes??
can you use plain water or it has to be distilled?
You can use tap water, but it’s best if it’s; dechlorinated tap water, rain water, distilled water or RO water :)
im making this in a slightly larger scale replica should i add taddpoles or small fish?
If it’s a bit bigger than this I think you can add tiny aquatic snails to clean up algae, but if it’s way bigger than you might be able to add shrimp and other small fish
I have a question I have a large jar and I am trying to make my first paludarium but the jar opening is a little tight but enough to fit stuff in and my hand but I am missing super for large rocks I have and what i want to ask is it ok to use large rocks and for the wall and is it fine if the water are is a little small

As long as your water isn't touching the soil you're fine!
ok ill try that
Where do you get your plants?
Often from reptile shops, they usually stock a good range of tropical plants
💚💚💚💚💚
💚
how often did you water it?
As it’s closed I very rarely need to water it:)
What is the smallest paludarium size that can include small fish and small frogs?
paper towel
Minik bitkiler zamanla büyümüyor mu?
They do but I don’t think they do as fast
wait.... some springtails appeared in my terrarium and I was thinking that was a bad thing. I kill them all ;(
Some aren’t springtails, if they don’t jump and don’t have antennas then they aren’t sprintaols and are pests
#3 PLEASE DO A FACE REVEAL

Damn your thumb nails are small.
How long will the water last before evaporating?
It wont
Well at least if it's a closed terrarium (with a lid) because It will just have its own atmosphere which is pretty cool because u don't have to water it at all
