Brilliant ship handling. The team effort,, stunning work. This is as high art. Posted 7 years ago and still breath taking to watch.
Have you ever tried watching paint drying. ?...if they had taken any longer the med would have evaporated. !!!!... British captains use engines and thrusters....Greek cabin boys use winches. ...very amateur , They need to go back to school. 🤡
@@AA-69 I wonder how old the footage is? It looks to me like he maybe has bow thrusters,, I think they did that with twin screws and winches. Better than I could do it. Then again,, I am a rag bagger,, single under powered screw with feathering blades. (Meaning reverse is not a certain thing. You use prop walk to help swing the turn.) You are absolutely correct,, thrusters fore and aft would make that a lot easier.
Greek captains are sailing on rough seas for centuries. Respect.
True
Play in the North Sea for some fun and games....
Leonardo Mourão respect also for the three workers who secured the ship on the dock risking being swept by the big waves and the ship's maneuvers contributing to this, into the sea!
Correction: Greek captains have been sailing on rough seas for centuries. Most Captains are captains for maybe 20 years. Some good, some not so good.
@@craiglist879 Thank you for your correction. I am not a native speaker. :-)
The Greeks have always been a nation of great seafarers with outstanding seamanship. The risk of the sailors is not for fun. They know what they are doing!
This docking & load/unload process looks beyond the words... What a skillful Captain and crews of this ship! Amazing! Much respect ✊ for whoever they are and personality I love & respect Greece for many reasons ❤️
My respect to the Captain and his Crew, also all concerned on the Dock side, for securing the Ship.
I'm a Turkish sailor who visits Greek Islands very often with own yacht; every time a ferry approaches the harbor I get up and watch the whole process with joy and respect. Greek commercial captains are extremely skillful. Congratulations!
Wow pls send me your own video if possible i wana see this all process.
Oh, In the same time I'll going to study in capitan's school. Is it hard???
A
abbas khan you have lots of fun
I' m Italian and I like what you said.My compliment!
Cyclades my home for 12 years and some of the best people on the planet! Respect for all Greeks! Especially this lot! 🇬🇷🇬🇧🌞
All that for 2 cars and 10 people thats one expensive bus
🇬🇷💙🇬🇧
For my money, that's incredibly impressive. This is real seamanship from a proper captain and crew, just going about their daily job. Wow!
Wow that is amazing maneuvering, didn’t realize that part of the process for Greece to receive the necessities. God keep all the crew and onshore assistance safe.
chapeau, chapeau.
As a Manxman who lives in the middle of the Irish Sea, much rougher than the Aegean, all I can say is that you Greeks are the greatest. No way we'd try that. Respect!
Greek captains shouldn't have to have to try that but they have to work under such conditions with such infrastructure. This is what the video description says in its Greek part, above. Now mind you, the Aegean Sea is very tricky. It is not so much the size of waves but rather the unpredictable currents that do the harm. Experienced sailors from all over the world and most notably from Greece itself have been lost for underestimating what they could think of as a mundane "wavy sea"'.
It was more action packed in the old days Snaefell Tynwald Ben-my-Chree. But even 30 years ago, there were adventures to be had (tempting to say riding the Manx Maid), turning in the harbour before the new breakwater was built watching the wooden plank decks heel over at 30’ to the green water over the big rectangular windows at the bottom of the slope, big stacks of plates smashing, toast and butter, cup of tea. Climbing up the ladders inside the funnel and pushing up the trap door. Great days.
Do you not get a sore bum. ?
Great Captain and crew, especially the harbour staff, brave and bold men...though I felt sick just watching it!
This captain has balls! Greetings to all Greek people! Love your wonderful country.
Absolute consent.
We Love you too.
That was nuts!!! Wow!! Gotta be crazy to wanna get off or onto that ship in this weather and rough seas. What courage!
A+ Captain! The Greeks were born to do this! Really incredible to see this (and to hear the conversation of the person who filmed with another). Loved the waves splashing, the music and the wind hitting the speaker discomforts the listener just enough to make you feel you’re there risking your own life like these people. Like a Hollywood film, but real life!!
Why do Greek captains leave their ships first. ?... Because they are cowards. !!!...
Bravo! Greetings from Turkey.
I don't know why they would even attempt this. Incredible job by the captain and crew.
Because they are Greek with real balls between legs...not pusses
@@DG1965 and what that any of that have to do with the captains having big BALLS???
Greeks are freaking awesome. He's the Mannn!!!
Х
I salute you Captain❤️ Impeccable landing. 🌸🌼🌷🌸🌼🌺
As a merchant sea man I been to a lot of Greek islands I have seen a lot of this ferry they got a lot of islands and a lot of ferries I give a lot of Congratulations to this Captain he got BALLS BRAVO CAPTAIN FROM A U.S. MERCHANT SEA MAN THANKS
DORKUCHO TANIHU Why do you put space between all your words

You obviously know NOTHING about seamanship. !
The captain is a real hero. He took a calculated risk. If he didn't take this risk, the island would be isolated for a week without medical and food support. My full respect to the captain and the crew.
PANAGIOTIS MAVRIDIS
He scoffed "just a day at work"
@Joseph KobatakeYou'd think...
@Joseph Kobatake
Where did you go to school ???¿!!!
The Sahara desert ?????!!!!
@Joseph Kobatake
Ferries I know , all over , carrie people , cars , buses , chickens, goats , cows , some even carrie elephants.
A ferry , can carry anything. It's a very strong vessel.
Take care.
1st class job ! Cheers from Sweden.
Respect for Adamantios Korais Crew and the Land Crew.
That was frickin amazing. I have no idea how difficult it is to drive ships in calm let alone fighting all of that. I do know how to drive pleasure craft (small one) and docking that in a high wind or storm is crazy and can cause so much damage if you do not know what you are doing. So standing o to the captain because he deserves all good things for that move.
Scary!! Looked like some of those workers could have gotten swept out to sea at any moment.
Good job to the crew as well as the captain and some of the passengers helping to get the ropes in for docking. TEAM WORK helps get things done...
Amazing approach to the harbour and disembarcation of the semi-truck and truck !! Congrats to the Captain !!
Bravo! Captain and crew have balls of steel!
i have to say that good job Captain and Bravo two time but hi is not alone ... if you visit the engine room at this time you will understand for the tension that is there to keep all the machinery’s in good order and to be ready for the next command from the bridge .
The Greek Captain are the most skillful on maneuvers .
Thanks to the Crew included the Captain the island have provisions and connection with shore .
Bravo one more time
i was just thinking that,, of course the captain did brilliant but there was a lot of good team work , on the bridge , in the engine room , on the deck and even some good work from the guys onshore,,, jeez, can you just imagine that in an english harbour ( or prob an american one ) the whole crew would be in jail...
@@roderickmchardy3650 thank god i am greek.
amazing captain to get that sorted out, well done to the crew of course!
This is why I love Greece and the people, nothing stops them, no matter the hazard or danger.
Superb seamanship. Applause.
This is a picture of the brave naval Greek spirit rite there. This is what has kept our great country afloat thru the centuries.
Long live the brave crew , wherever they may be today. RESPECT.👌👌👌👌👌
Passengers: That's never going to work.
Captain: Hold my beer.
LMFAO!!!!

Two things Greek captains have
Passion for the ocean
And 10kg balls
I have been a sailor for ten years but not seen this kind of manoeuvring. Salute to the guys on the bridge.
Great and challenging job. Thumb up team.👍
Sublime skills, this captain earned every penny of his salary.
So he dropped his anchor(s) and held to land with the stern lines.
Most impressive.
And the skill & courage of port personnel & passengers including drivers is also remarkable.
Winder time in the Greek islands. Stunning!
I drove cars for export onto ships for a while when we still made cars in Australia, O wouldn't be thrilled with this loading procedure though. Gutsy
Bravo 👏 impressionnant ! 😱💪✌️
Just came from a holiday in Greece islands
Just Fantastic , the most amazing people I've ever met
Yes they are,and their hand is in Your pocket while they look stright in to your eyes.
They would, if they pay their bills by Greek money, by other EU members ...I know this cos my sis in law marriet with Greek man. Nice person but always broken if asked.
@@perrtivrtsu6602 So you were talking metaphorically about "steelig"? Then you shouldn't talk about Greeks but about socialism and Banking system.
@@epsilonfotar1590 I think Youre right. Wish Nice year 2020 to You! And a lot of joy.
@@perrtivrtsu6602 You too ☺️🎉
The main hero is the yellow jacket harbour man..he did all the work
The captain's and crews skills are put to the test on this one , excellent work skills 👍👍

Excellent job, that's called Experience...
To hell with steel, Captain, you have balls of pure titanium
True seamanship. Admire these guys tremendously.
Holy shit, I can't believe stuff like this is actually happening. Kudos to the crew.
he is not a captain .He is THE CAPTAIN!!!!
He’s not alone! You definitely mean: It’s not a Captain, he’s THE CAPTAIN and it’s not a crew , they’re THE CREW! GREAT JOB from all of them!
never seen before anyone trying to "land" a ship.

Great captain, great sailors and great harbour attendants ! At first, I simply didn't think they would ever be able to make it !
This is mind blowing! Better than any sci fi movie I’ve seen! I’m 40, I’ve seen some sci fi so, don’t judge me :)
