- compilation of some catches from the Sea Eagle 285FPB. Great one man bass boat. fits inside my closet in the winter time & in the back of my car with no need for a trailer or car topping . a great solution for people limited on space like myself living in a condo. abides by all rules and regulations in Cook county, IL because it has a hardwood OEM floor . confirmed by IDNR officer ( they don't allow the pontoons with no floors )
www.seaeagle.com/ for more info on their products .
Primary filmed at Busse Lake.
I've had mine for 4 years now, love it! No trolling motor for me, I use the oars, great excercise. Catch my limit of pike almost every time
I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about taking the plunge on the Sea Eagle 285 here real soon. I've been eyein' that beauty up for a year and a half now.
I highly recommend it! I've had mine for a year. Learning as I go. Love my 55# Minnkota trolling motor. You can fit the boat, assembled, in the back of a big bedded truck or you can transport it folded up in a smaller vehicle. Best part is the ability to stand and cast. Very stable even with wakes and in stormy conditions. Standing allows Fly reel casting, finesse techniques (flipping n pitching), angle flexibility (especially if drop shot and trolling) makes it even more fun. (I'm 5'9", 165#..if someone is 6'6", 270#, then that might be different).
You can fish dual rods, mount lights, cameras and have a lot of action😂 With improved skills, preparation, and experience, one can manage stormy, windy conditions. The problem is NOT with stability, rather, managing my fishing lines as the boat gets blown around a little in high winds.
Highly durable. No problems yet, knock on wood. As mentioned I'm learning as I go so God knows I gave it a good test😂
Will be putting my pontoon the water for the first time this weekend. Please post more videos! Tight lines
Did you get it directly from their website or somewhere else?
Thanks for the info. I'm looking to purchase one and your personal perspective has helped. Tight lines!
Glad i could help! Tight lines!
Great vid. If I had to truck-top it, I'd never go...my yak and bass raider haul great with the tailgate down, but now we're getting into camping with a travel trailer...need to fit in the bed all buttoned up. This will do the trick, thanks again!
Hey I live in Lake County! I am thinking of getting a Sea Eagle 285FPB this Spring to go Fly Fishing! Looking forward to seeing more fishing videos with you on that Sea Eagle!

Bro... it’s nice boat... high seat... I bring my out this weekend for first time... 🤪🤪🤪
Just bought mine 👍, I also drive a CRV and the dude I brought it from had a CRV as well LOL!
tight lines !
Friend and me bought 2 of these boats. Just waiting for it ti be shipped over. Bout the battery for the elec motor, i got a renogy lithium 12v 100ah (bout 12kgs), can't wait to get it all installed for my maiden voyage.
how do you like it so far ?
@@kayakbassaholic4545 one bloody tough craft, very very stable, comfortable. I overdid it with the battery...barely use 15% of its capacity each trip. One other thing, i ditched the bag that came with it and bought a haversack to stuff the craft in so that i can backpack it easily. Best advice to get the motorised air pump.
@@dazza8253 incredible to hear brother! i 100% agree with the motorized pump . makes set up a breeze
Nice to see someone gently releasing fish instead of just flipping them end over end into the water.
Great video. Was thinking about a fishing kayak but this looks to work just as well if not better at a lower price.
there are some nice fishing kayaks in the 1K price range . but the portability and compactness of this boat is what so nice about it .
cool video !! I'm from Sterling,IL couple hours from cook county.
greetings buddy!
You must be in the Chicagoland area. Used to go to Busse Woods when I was growing up.
Fished that lake for over 23 years
yes sir! its my most visited lake due to its close proximity to me
Nice to see someone releasing fish without gently flipping them end over end into the water.
Cool stuff! Thx for the nice video!
The Gospel of John, sooner than later, friend.❤️
Nice boat buddy... I just order my today, sale on July 4th... can’t wait to go out... my come with 2.3 Honda motor package...First time I’m a little scare...😂
its fun! just make sure you have your PFD. i think you will like it
How do you keep from getting a hefty fine by running that trolling motor without a boat license?????
I’m looking at this or the 385 fishing kayak . Undecided
both are solid setups . i think the 385 is easier to paddle for obvious reasons ( its shaped better for paddling )
Nicely done. Saw your post on Reddit. Tossed you a sub, thanks for the video.
much appreciated ! we got a couple new kayaks this summer and will be filming new videos this month .
trying to get my hands on a Bote Lono to test it out next
question! hopefully yours still around since this video is pretty old. I and 6'2'' 320 big guy, do you think this setup is realistic or comfortable for a guy of my stature?
I’m wondering how stable this is for someone tall. Like 6’4 and over 300 pounds. Had a different style pontoon that wasn’t nearly as stable as advertised
im around 220 and im 6'3
the 285FPB has massive pontoons that are incredible for stability. i have a couple of kayaks and the 285FPB is far easier to stand in. it does not have that wobble that kayaks have
@@kayakbassaholic4545 yeah I ended up buying it and couldn’t be happier. I spent some money modifying it too. Has everything I need now
Bass!!
Awesome video! I've got my 285FPB ready for it's maiden voyage this week! Great to see how you get it from the car to the boat ramp. That part was puzzling me. Is that a kayak dolly you're using? Thanks for posting!!!!
it is! its actually a $30-40 ( seems they gone up in price since ) Bonolo Kayak cart i got off amazon.
i then fitted it with some wood planks that extended it past the pontoons and eventually added pool noodles to them to lighten the load on the boat . without the wood addition the cart would just slip in between the pontoons and i didn't like the amount of stress it was adding to the boat especially when it was fully fitted with the mother, seat & battery. This way, it evenly distributed the weight more and in my opinion hopefully helps the longevity of the boat . it worked great just using things i had around the house (including the kayak cart from a previously owned kayak) . the sea eagle cart was over$100 i believe which is why i fitted this one .

@@kayakbassaholic4545 Awesome! Thanks!!!!
Liked. Have you used your GPS to see what is your max speed with your trolling motor? Thanks.
Would it be possible to deflate only 1 side, fold it like a sandwich and slide it in a SUV ?
You ever take it out on rivers? If so, how does it handle rapids, and can the trolling motor push it upstream? Thanks
Wear do I get at achievement like fish finder holders exsetra
Great video man, I am glad you said you were a little concerned about the inflatable. I have been researching one for years for the same reason, just recently pulled the trigger and waiting for mine to ship. Did you buy the motor after you bought it or did you have it before, I am thinking to first handle the oars.
i bought the motor and a battery after i got the boat ~
Nice to see some good weather. Do you carry the cart with you after you launch or put it back in the car?
put it back in the car . the parking lot is not too far from where i launch and i try and keep the clutter and weight on the boat to a minimum
No boat reg plate?
Where can I get the dolly

That boat is awesome, I found one on Craigslist for $400 and was thinking about buying it! Do you think it's possible to bring a kid along with you on the boat? Nice bass btw!
depend how old the child is but i definitely think its possible. just make sure you guys have your PFDs on
@@kayakbassaholic4545 thx tight lines!
Has busse woods ever given you issues for this? Pontoons are not allowed on any cook county forest preserve water. This looks more like a raft, but inflatable rafts aren't allowed either.
i have spoken to the DnR officers about this . as long as the Inflatable is multichambered and has a OEM (non custom made) Hardwood floor it is allowed .
No Fly fishing pontoons or soft floor inflatables
I guess sea eagle packfish is allowed too then? Technically fits all the requirements.
@@BrianNuccio yes if you have the green hardwood floor model . i know one of them doesn't come with the hardwood floor
How stable is the boat? Is it easy to flip?
How did you modify the kayak cart?

What state do you live in that doesn't require registration when using a motor?
im in IL and it definitely requires registration
How long the batt last bro..??
about 5 hours for me with normal use , 6 hours if am conservative with power
What trolling motor do you use?
What do you need to buy to add the trolling motor? Do you need to buy anything extra to attach it?
when you buy the boat it comes with an attachment for you to place any typical small trolling motor . I was using a 35# thrust Minn Kota trolling motor
Can i get a link to the dolly you have? Recently got this boat and man will a dolly be helpful!
they are on amazon and called Bonolo kayak carts . i just looked them up and they are almost $64 now! when i purchased mine it was no more than $40. they seem to have gone up in price
here ya go

can anyone help with determining 3.2 pounds of air? I have an electric air pump used to fill air mattress, can i use it?
im not sure if you can do it with that one . i had a Air pump with a digital gauge that showed me it reached 3.2
before then i would use the hand pump till it wouldn't pump any more
What battery do you use for your trolling motor and how long does it last?

Not showing that you’re casting lying and catching them🤔
I wonder how pathetic your life has to be to come on to youtube to accuse a guy doing a fishing vessel review of lying about catching fish while on said small 1 man boat. Jesus, get a life.
What do you use for a battery
i used this - its a smaller battery and doesn't weigh as much
