One of the most amazing theater experiences was this part and hearing the collective reactions of everyone in the theater. I'll never forget it. I didn't realize it at the time but it turns out I loved seeing people's reactions to things even back in 1999 because I worked in a theater when this came out and I would try to sneak in to the screens playing this movie during the twist reveal.

I've never experienced such a collective chillness in my life, and probably will never again in a movie theater. Thank God this movie came out before social media!
p.s. Don't believe people who saw the movie when it came out and claim to having figured out the twist beforehand. 99% of them are lying.

Me too. I did the exact same thing. This compilation video is like an extension of that. It has retained all its power and lost none of the impact. I still get chills and choked up just now seeing this. Time is funny. Watching a three minute video of a two hour movie twenty five years down the line later and the twist still hits and levels the senses like a sledge hammer.
I remember everyone's immediate reaction when the house lights came up and leaving, the buzz, all these pockets of cinema detectives going over the movie back and forth with a fine tooth comb looking for all the clues laying right there in front of us and seeing if it all the evidence aligned right, actually fit and the general consensus was anybody and everybody wanted to go right back in and watch it a second time to see how M.Night did it, how this cinematic magician managed to pull it off, a sleigh of hand so perfectly executed, trick so masterfully realized and absolute, it was like magic. It's called The Sixth Sense and our boy Shyamalan managed to rock all 5 our senses, the sixth one too, plus, probably a couple more of 'em we don't even know of or about for good measure also.
Who would've thought a movie about a kid who sees dead people could make a person feel so alive.

I saw this in the theater a few days after it came out with my wife, who is very smart. Like Mensa smart. During the scene where Bruce Willis is in the basement and the dude comes around to hit on his wife, MY wife suddenly grabs my arm. I look at her and she is smiling. She leans in to me and whispers, "He's a ghost."
Because I'm not that smart, she has to whisper all of the reasons why.
So, during the big reveal I'm sitting there nodding along saying "Yep, you got it."
Meanwhile, she's sitting there balling her eyes out.

Unfortunately I had seen the movie "Carnival of Souls' just two days earlier (the original 1960s version not the remake) and though not exactly the same twist, it still followed a woman who didn't realize that she was dead the entire movie. So all the little hints I immediately picked up, not because I'm clever, but because I saw a movie with a similar theme just days earlier.

I think people forgot how subtle a twist THAT moment was. Our fear of the unknown and unnatural can lead us to develop prejudices. But, if we try to understand something or someone, we can find that it's not scary at all, and we can do some good in the world.

I remember seeing the lines for it after its first week and thinking, “Why are so many people waiting to see some new ‘scary’ Bruce Willis movie?” This was the days of DVD just coming on the scene and you had to wait quite a while, like a year before you could rent a copy after the theatric release. By that time, everyone was talking about this movie having a twist and what was so cool was the respect people had that if they found out you hadn't seen “the sixth sense,” they wouldn't spoil it. A year later, a girlfriend and I finally watched it and though I knew there was apparently a twist, it wasnt until his ring fell on the floor that my jaw dropped. Such a classic film. The idea that dead people were just hanging out around us, making those noises or weird movements of air in the room had us sleep with the lights on that night. Good ol’ times.

One of the most powerful moments of this ending is Malcolm’s final line to his wife.
In the very opening scene, she tells him the plaque and award are important because they represent everything he accomplished in his career, and the sacrifices he made, including putting everything second… including her.
So when he says, “I needed to tell you something: you were never second. I love you,” that hits real, real hard. Total closure of the film’s theme.

I first suspected he was dead during the scene where he's pulling up to the house late at night right as the "lover" is quickly hopping in his car as if to avoid conflict. It was then I noticed how everything was just so perfect for him to have never interacted on-screen with anyone but the kid. I wasn't positive though - just thought "man, that'd be crazy if he was dead."

I always figured Malcolm being a ghost was one of those twists like “I am your father” or “Rosebud is a sled” where most people know about it, even if they’d never seen The Sixth Sense. Not that it’s a bad thing that these people didn’t know

I have never watched The Sixth Sense until today, but because of the cultural impact it had back then, I knew about the twist as probably most of my generation (born in '93). I still enjoyed the movie very much and I am glad that almost 25 yrs later people can now watch it spoiler free and be amazed.

The best part of this movie is you learn he's dead at the same moment he realizes it. You essentially die with him which is what makes the twist so impactful. There will never be another twist this good!

Someone spoiled this for me back in 99'. I knew full well going into it what the reveal was gonna be. As I've gotten older I've really come to think about what an asshole move that was on his part, seeing as its now considered one of the biggest plot twists in film.
