How to Buffer Cocopeat in Hydroponics

- Cocopeat in Hydroponics is a great option as growing media but washing it before use only eliminated water soluble salts but not high level of potassium and sodium ions that are bound to exchange sites in cocopeat. To remove those ions buffering cocopeat before using is important as it helps in avoiding calcium and magnesium deficiency in plants, especially in recirculating hydroponic systems. In this video, I am sharing how I buffer cocopeat and use it in my garden

ye kya pagalpan hai, pahle salt hatao, phir wapas milaoo, phir wapas hataoo, itni jol jaal.
sugarcane nursery ke liye cocopeat quality kya hone chhahiye matlab TDS - ES RANGE jyada tds - es plant survive main problem kar sakta hain
Bhai sab ek bar hi calcium nitrate me wash karna he..
Yes
Yeh net ka ha milagi
Hi, can you share what's the difference if I get Cocopeat Powder instead of cocopeat brick or there is no difference, because there a almost double the difference in price in power vs brick. Plz share...
Difference is quality
To transport we make it as brick or block we can say. N when we make brick or block the quality must be best otherwise we can not make brick or block
Sir indoor hydroponic ka bhi vedio banane ki koshis kijiyega,
It will take some time. But sure 👍
What if we use compose + cocopeat in hydroponics? Is it a good practice!
Then it's called soilless gardening/farming. I already do that. It's not hydroponics. It's more on organic side
@@smgardener can we use that combination in hydroponics sir? Is makes any difference?
You can use but it is likely to create imbalances unless you know how much nutrients are being provided from both sources. Although, you can do it without hydroponic nutrients as well
Calcium nitrate 30L WATER PPM 650
I don't think you need to dip it again with freshly prepared calnit solution 2nd time.
Instead keep it for 48 hours instead.
People do it both ways. There is a lag time before exchange of ions take place. If you treat it once with CalNit solution then yes definitely buffering will take place to an extent but then again aspect of lag time comes and calcium concentration may not be too high to exchange more ions if someone wants to give their cocopeat best chance to exchange ions at maximum sites then treating it twice is best. You can do it once, you may not face any problem but my emphasis is on maximizing buffering benefit without any compromise. People even get away with growing plants just fine when using non buffered cocopeat...so it all depends what you are aiming at 😊
@@smgardener yes you're right. Afterall the main aim is to get good big harvests. And I've actually seen people getting good ones with 48 hours method too. But one's own experience is the ultimate experience to decide the best way.
First❤️
Thanks. You can also buy coco coir or coco peat that come already PH ready (Buffered) for Hydroponics.
Yes
Calcium nitrate dalne Se Kya hota Hai Coco peat mein
Calcium replace kar deta hai potassium ko aur fir jab aap nutrient solution dete hain plants ko toh calcium deficiency nahi hoti. Agar buffer kare bina hi plants grow karenge toh nutrient solution mein calcium cocopeat mein absorb ho jayega aur plants ko nahi milega. Isliye calcium nitrate use karke hum pehle hi potassium ki jagah calcium exchange kar dete hain
@@smgardener ok tnx
Nice
Thanks for discouraging me from gardening
Yup. Some forms of gardening are definitely not for everyone
What Should we do first buffing or sterilizing
Sterilizing first
Can we keep grow bags in open and let rain water go into it?
Yes
Bahoot achha
Sir buffer karne say pehle wash kar k tds level 5000 say 250 pe laya buffer k bad tds level pher 3500 ho geya ab dobara level nichay lana hay plzz reply
Yes. Plain RO water se
Thanks 👍
for how much time we can keep on using the same cocopeat?
Until it decomposes
Hi sir this can be used in nursary trays directly for planting the seeds
Yes
Sir mujhe gamlo ke liye soil me cocopeat mix karna hai kaya cocopeat ko buffer karna jaruri hai ya kewal wash se kam chal jayega
Sirf wash kijiye
@@smgardener thanks for replying
What is buffer and why we do it
Buffering means balancing the exchange of ions within growing media. We do it ti avoid nutrient imbalances while growing plants
Kya washing k bad dry krna jruri he?
NAHI
Please make a detailed video on applying nutrients when growing media is only cocopeat. How often and how much.
Sir, sure but have you watched my videos where I have shown How to grow cucumbers in cocopeat? Let me know so I can advise further
Calcium nitrate kaha milta hain?
Har video ki description mein links diye hue hain...wahan se purchase kar sakte hain
Did you use RO water or tap water for buffering? And do we need to dry coco peat before 2nd time buffering?
RO water but people use Tap Water too. I like to go as clean as possible
@@smgardener Thanks for the reply, do you dry the buffered coco peat before 2nd time buffering?
Ideally, it should be dried but even if you don't dry it the second time, it's ok. Still going to work great
Calcium nitrate ke baad v ro wale pani se dhone ki jarurt hai sir...mene sukha to lai mager duwara nahi dhoia 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yes. TDS kam karne k liye dhona hai
@@smgardener we wash again after buffering to reduce TDS.... means to remove the calcium which was added during buffering... right?
To lower TDS and remove displaced salts like sodium, etc NOT calcium. Calcium is bound to sites after buffering
@@smgardener Thanks for your quick response... sorry not calcium... pottasium..
What I understood is that ... while washing sodium is removed and while buffering pottasium is removed
Exactly. Both sodium and potassium are displaced in washing and buffering. Not calcium
Your videos are inriching
Thank you
Is calmag better option for this?
Sure. Why not. Buffer it with both Calcium and Magnesium. It's a better option but that's just all about it. It's marginally better. I have done both and the latter makes hardly any difference
@@smgardener hello sir, I made a solution for coco coir buffer with biobizz cal mag, which has the same dosage of magnesium and calcium as calimagic, I used 7.5mg per 1 gallon, but the EC of the solution is 157 ppm, I used RO water, which has 0.00 ppm but I read somewhere that the buffer solution for coco must be 1500-2000 ppm 1.5-2 ec. Did I make a mistake? or can I use it as it is?

Mere pass tds nhi hai to kaise check kre
Sirf TDS meter se hi check ho sakta hai

Sir spinach ko hydroponics ma ek din ma kitne ghante paani dena hota h?
Sir please answer❤🥺
Kaun se system mein grow karna chahte hain?
@@smgardener NFT system ma ugana hai
1 hour ON and 1 hour OFF
@@smgardener sir raat ma bhi?
Jab plants chhote hote hain toh aap raat mein bandh kar sakte hain. Jab thode bade ho jaate hain tab nahi. Waise agar koi 24*7 chalaa sakta hai pump toh wo best option hai. Nahi toh jaisa maine bataya waisa kar lijiye
