Damn this is a crazy crossover. Have you tried ducking the lows of other mid Centered instruments? Giving the bass it’s own frequency space while also pushing it into mono will help it feel more comfortable in the mix
A trick I’ve seen from NailtheMix is to run bass through a free or paid distortion vst usually made for guitar. Gives you the grit if you need but the tone shaping will bring out the mids more. Sweep that tone knob to your liking.
Awesome! Would love to see more if this, i think this genre almost need a new name rather than just "ambient" :D I think i will buy the pack, vital presets seems really nice.
Thanks! I just bought the pack and I'm downloading it right now hehehe I hope I can create aaaaa I'm really bad, I'm terrible at creating music, but I'm still going to try and release an EP on my birthday next month if everything goes well hehehe thank you very much. Hugs from Brazil! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
came across this while looking for dark ambient, great video! Not really dark imho, but thats subjective ;-) and the real dark ambient was already pioneered in the 90s by thomas koner, the ben frost, roly porter, biosphere and many more.
100% , always getting similar comments on various genres haha, usually it's just down to SEO and search terms - this is the current popular dark ambient and most people are searching for how this is made vs the OG dark ambient which would for sure be super interesting to delve into the gear they used etc.
Hey, I bought the pack but it's giving me an error on vital when I imported: There was an error preset was created with a newer version.. I have the newest version of Vital right now please help
@@izziiebabee hey izzie did you download the beta version on? Should be a pdf with further instructions, drop an email to mondoloops@gmail.com if you have further issues 🙏
Hey, great vid. A q I have is how do you decide on your arrangements? As far as I can tell you use similar arrangements most of the time with main sounds being pad in BG and nice pluck/kalimba Ish sound as an arp. I struggle to decide when to bring extra ear candy or leads and what I want them to sound like before the problem of sound design
i bought this ambient pack, but when i try to drag it into vital, it‘s not there. sitting here for hours and it‘s not working. there is no tutorial how to do this…
Hey mate, there is an instructions PDF in the folder, you need to go to settings import bank and click on the bank in the pack - make sure you have the latest version of Vital too (1.5.5 early access) drop mondoloops@gmail.com an email if you are struggling and we can hop on a call
hello mondo loops, what program are u using for making ambient music? I only know FL Studio, but not sure if it‘s good for making this kind of music? Can someone help me what program is good? Wanna buy a macbook and start making some music
@@germanhaguirre yeah the paid version is exactly the same feature wise it just gives you more wave tables and presets etc but this pack has custom wave tables and presets too
Nice video and sounds! But uh, how can you claim that these recent fellas have pioneered the genre? It was pioneered in the 80's and arguably late 70's by the kinds of Klaus Schulze / Tangerine Dream, Throbbing Gristle, Lustmord etc. Maybe there's a specific sound or style we're exploring here that is a recent trend but I think it's worth noting the proper roots here if we talk about roots.
Hey thanks for checking out the vid! Defo not claiming they invented ambient but more breaking down how to make this new wave of dark ambient similar to the artists mentioned, definitely many roots dating back 40 years + with Laurie Spiegel and Eno coming to mind first for me, but "dark ambient" for lack of a better description was used, could definitely do with a better name I guess!
I'm talking about specifically _Dark Ambient_ which also dates back some 40 years. If it's dark and it's ambient then it's dark ambient enough for me and I'm not here to gatekeep anyone but let's not pretend that these fellas, while they are undoubtedly great musicians, have invented a new genre. It's disrespectful towards the people whose legacy paved the way for ambient artists like me, you and the musicians mentioned here.
That's what I'm saying, hence why I titled it making "Making Dark Ambient Like ..." no one is saying they invented Dark Ambient music, it's just a new wave of the genre that is popular currently
Just wanted to clarify this bit for anyone watching since you literally said dark ambient music was pioneered by the artists mentioned in the intro and that's what anyone not previously familiar with the genre will take away. I understand it was just a misstep in choice of words, that's ok. Happens to everyone.
great video
The man himself 💙
@@myu_on LOL, I have said the same thing in words to myself "the man himself" before clicking on replies and I see you said the same thing. 😂
please teach me how to produce :(
How do you prevent bass sounds from getting too fuzzy? I tried to duck the lows a bit but then it just removes the bass straight up
