      Hopefully you don't need to be storm rated. That's like 95% of the problems and costs. The slab alone is now up to (with the fixes) - $90k. I know, I'm still lightheaded thinking about it. There's $35k in rebar and concrete alone... the rest is labor. The beams they poured took more concrete and rebar than the slab itself did. And those all had to be dug out before being laid out and poured. They're 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep and there's over 700 feet of beams in there.

      @@AlexLTDLX I'm building a solar powered 2100sqft mostly single story modern house with 2200 sqft of attached garage. It will be 37x50 plus an offshoot for machine tools. My expense will come from the 60lbs/sqft snow load requirement and the massive engineered wood beams it takes to support that at 60' long. I'm figuring $600k for the house alone, with the driveway, septic and well adding probably another 200k. I think in the next week my builder will give me the quote, so fingers crossed it isn't too much higher than that.

      Very similar - except mine will look a bit like a warehouse until I dress it up. I guess you get hit with different stuff in different areas. My foundation is crazy expensive, but my septic system isn't - only $9k. Mostly due to the fact there's no soil here as I know it. Once you remove the plants, it's literally white beach sand. You could dig the septic by hand with a shovel pretty easily. Good luck with your place - sounds like it will be awesome!

    Hottest summer on record when you change how temperatures are measured! Name brand tires only when it is something you are putting weight on or going fast and you are lucky the tire did not destroy the wheel well or the entire side of the trailer! That's awesome you helped the dog.

      TBH, I was just parroting what I've been hearing - I didn't look into it (which is rather unusual for me). Either way, it was very hot. I've got no other explanations...

    Maybe it is just a Texas thing but I have found that if you have your tires inflated correctly, if one of them blows then you might as well change them all because the others are right behind them. The heat definitely does a number on them. I also run as much weight rating as I can when I get new tires. The heavier tires are louder and harder to pull but they last longer.

  • @dennisford2000
    @dennisford2000 Год назад +1

    Certain that you had them inflated properly. Most won't go 5 years anymore . When I was underground cable mechanic in the early eighties, we barely had problems , had equipment trailers , 14.5 tires load range e or f . But my racing trailer experience says 3 years max .

    I stopped buying trailer tires long ago. They can sit for years, have uv damage, or be stored squished. I always run load rating equivalent truck or car tires for this exact same reason.

      @@AlexLTDLX14.5 like trailer guys use on mobile homes. Should be fine , retain the sidewall stiffness. It's better to be a couple psi high than any low . My former job used to have problems with tire press failure. I would gauge atruck and trailer or two daily . Two month oil ser too . No more blowouts. JS . YRMV

    • @AlexLTDLX
      @AlexLTDLX  Год назад +1

      @@dennisford2000 I typically inflate the tires to 80 psi cold. With the TPMS, it's interesting to see how much pressure they gain on the highway, particularly on hot days. Heck, just sitting with one side in the sun and the other in the shade can be a 5 psi difference.

    • @AlexLTDLX
      @AlexLTDLX  Год назад

      @@evil_me I'd need 225/75/15 tires that can handle over 2,800 lbs each. The trailer tires are pretty reasonable price-wise and so far I've been happy with the Walmart tires - $101 per tire and a a name brand (Carlisle - they make other tractor/trailer tires that I'm familiar with). These are one step up from the cheapest - but they're what I could get on a Sunday. I just think the trailer company put the cheapest ones they could find on there.

      These tires came with the trailer which I also bought new. The date code on the tires matches the delivery date on the trailer (the trailer was delivered March of 21 and the tires' date code is March of 2021). Maybe the covid supply chain issues had something to do with it, I don't know.
