ALSO, it turns out people have 2 very different definitions of what a 'co-op game' is and you don't know the other half of people even exist! Here's what I've found after investigating... These are the 2 definitions people have: 1. A singleplayer experience that can be shared (Baldur's Gate 3, Stardew Valley, Satisfactory) 2. A multiplayer experience that can often be done alone if at all (Helldivers 2, Lethal Company, Trine) A poll even showed that 60% of people consider Baldur's Gate 3 a 'co-op game' and expect to find games like that in lists like these while 40% do NOT! Anyway, if you're confused or upset at the curation of games in this video, this is why, because like you I didn't know there was this split of perspectives on what a 'co-op game' is and I'll have to think of a solution on how to organise co-op games in the future. @@dogs-game-too In most cases, including release dates doesn't mean much anyway. Games get delayed, sometimes even brought forward, and vague '2024' targets don't really help. Unless a game has actually released, the release date can always change. Similarly with things like crossplatform, most just haven't confirmed it one way or another often because for full crossplatform with Playstation they have to work out deals with Sony.
I do always try my best to keep covering new games, with how many lists I can make now I must have talked about quite a few hundred at this point. I'm glad you're enjoying them
Boomerang-Fu has been one of the best couch co-op games I've played in years. My family has spent hundreds of hours playing it and we always have a blast. I'm just mentioning it because a DLC for the game just got released this month, so if you're looking for a fun co-op game to play that would really be my recommendation. I know it's a bit more of a party game, but after watching some of the games on this list I think it would still count amongst them.
Since you have been adding Early Access titles that are already available: I like to mention Roboquest, it's a really good co-op rogue-lite, great gunplay and style, has funky weapons and a good progression. Gets big updates working up to the release still.
I do include early access games for up to 3-4 years depending, but have to note that Roboquest fully released in 2023, so it's no longer a new game coming in 2024. Good game though.
Great video! These are always a highlight for my gaming nerdiness! Even if I’m not interested in a single game, rarely the case, I love these. Thank you and keep up the great work!
This list includes the top rated game on Steam for 2023 and likely the most loved co-op game of 2024. If this is horrible then there has never been a time where you would've been happy with what's available.
@@Tikki-rikki If you don't like a single one then you just don't like the genre. Literally the highest rated game of 2023 and biggest game of 2024 in the list.
@@Shuky420 I look everywhere. RUclips channels, Reddit, I follow gaming outlets on social media, searching Steam. I record games every time I see a new one into a giant document throughout the year. But it's not just about finding new games, it's filtering the ones that have potential or could be good. It's like for Simulation games, I listed 118 games in my megalist. Seems like a lot but just on Steam, there's about 1200 upcoming simulation games. Based on my 10 years making these lists, I pick out the top 10% to share with people.
@@GamerZakh damn man sounds like a lot of work thanks for doing all that for us. 10 years is a lot of time keep up the work 💪 I’m gonna look further for games now 👀😂
@@Shuky420 Haha well if I do a good job these are my best performing videos, so it's worth it for me to keep trying to get better. I've covered a lot for 2024 particularly, more than any other year. I think I've made 35 genre lists for 2024 so far? Hope you find more new games!
Thanks for another great video Zakh! I was a strictly single-player guy for a long time, but I've been playing a decent amount of co-op over the past couple years, so this is really interesting to me.
This videos title is very misleading. Im 10 minutes into the video and you have listed two titles without release dates and one still in early access?! Title says in 2024. Are you psychic? While i appreciate the effort you put into these videos you shouldnt have to rely on games that arent even out and stuffing the video full of ads to pad the watchtime.
Early access means you can play it right? I don't think you want to get into the etymology of 'released' and the definition of that word haha. To be clear, 18 games out of 20 have set 2024 release windows or have released. And I'm not psychic, I'm experienced. Also I don't need to pad the watchtime, how would putting in unrelated games help that anyway? People just tune out. I predict things by analysing. Someone got really upset at me because I listed Dragon's Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin, Dragon Age, and Black Myth Wukong for 2024 all before they had release dates. They also said the video was misleading and clickbait, that I was padding the video, etc just like you feel. Then all those games got 2024 release dates. I've done this every year for 10 years. See the problem with video game release dates is 2 fold: 1. Many games only get a release date as short as 2 months before release 2. Even if games have a specific release date, they can and are often delayed into the next year So how do you make any forward-looking list videos with any kind of certainty? Really it's impossible, but myself after making these videos for 10 years I have a stronger sense of what is more likely to become playable and what isn't. I'm not 100% correct of course, as you say I'm not psychic and I don't have a crystal ball, but I'm more experienced than most. The choice is: A) List only games with release dates and still be wrong because of delays, surprise releases, and cancellations B) List games with release dates and those without but have likely odds of releasing and still be wrong but be more informational and often more correct I opt for B and after 10 years, my predictions are more right than wrong anyway. Not to mention, I'm only predicting 2/20 games here. The other 18 have either released in some form or I'm taking their word for a 2024 release.
Also to note, for example with Outward 2, there's no fixed release date but they have already given out demo builds to some people and media, and the developer is considering early access. It could have a 2025-onwards release date but it could enter early access or just release that demo to everyone in 2024, which does count as becoming playable. These are things to consider when I make these lists. It also gave me an opportunity to talk about the first game's definitive edition release that was not too long ago, just as a bonus for something that can be played right now.
I just hope outward 2 has a difficulty setting, i got tired of dying or "knocked out" in areas where i couldn't get my stuff back but it still was cool
I honestly dont consider pvp games (Like Dead By Daylight clones) to be coop games. I want a pure coop game as in just you and one or more buddies going through coop campaign or taking on roguelite runs together (like Gunfire Reborn).
Yeah it's real complicated. After the 2 polls though I have a clear idea moving forward with co-op as a genre. The main split is the singleplayer first/multiplayer first perspectives which does allow me to split the games with some logic.
I mean it's got 71% positive on Steam, so there are people who enjoy it. Also 'best' doesn't always mean 'good', it means it's part of the best we got this year. There's a lot of hate for the game for various reasons, but personally I don't get all that emotional about games. If a game is something I don't like, I don't buy it and move on. It's not like any game is a secret like in the 80s and 90s where the box art was all clickbait haha, just watch a gameplay video or review and decide if you like it. I didn't buy Kill the Justice League but for the people who like it, that's fine too.
@@troysanchez6431 It hasn't aged at all, the status of that game is exactly the same as when I made this video. Overall rating dropped a few points to 68%, number of players has remained the same, floating between 150-450 concurrent on Steam. That was its status when this video was made.
People in the comments need to chill out. Stop taking the title of the video so literally, its obviously just wanting you to check it out. If you have a suggestion, leave thatin the comments and spare us the trash talk. Personally i like the approach of mentioning a bunch of games people havent heard of and ones that people dont usually try. I came here because i was l9oking for stuff to playbetween the big titles. If you want the most played and popular games, Steam does a good job of that just on its front store page for ya. Thanks for the suggestions
Hey thanks for being reasonable, I appreciate it. People really got mad at this video, they get madder when I tell them the game they hate isn't actually dead haha. It's like they got stock in the competition or something.
Let's be real. Genshin Impact, Warframe, The first decendant, farcy 5 & 6 are the ones that got co op right in a way. Those are playable. Borderlands 2, shi like that was perfection. We need more
Helldivers 2 is my top favorite game of all times. Never have I seen a game which manages to fit my taste so perfectly! That said, Deep Rock Galactic received a large update a couple of days ago and might deserve mention here as well. It is an excellent coop game and I played it more than 500h! I have to write a discalimer: but my friends really did not like the fact that DRG has been designed to be played with randoms, and with randoms only. Your progression will be slowed linearly for each friend you play (i.e. 4 friends, your progression goes down to about 25%).
This is how many ads it takes to produce these videos and cover costs. It's a self solving problem though, you only see ads if you watch the video. If you enjoy the video so much you keep watching, you get the ads. If the video isn't good enough you stop watching and don't see the ads. This way, my video must be good enough to make money and I make better and better videos, and the better I make them the more money I make. It's a good system.
@@AirDrifter77 That's fine, but it's a co-op game with 71% positive on Steam and released in 2024. It's one of the best co-op games of the year. Many are buying it on big sale and still having fun with it. It belongs in this list whether I like it or not, I have to be neutral. Some have said I shouldn't listed because of lies, like Steam deleting negative reviews, which never happened. Some say I shouldn't list it because it's 'woke', but any time I ask them to define what they mean they get straight up racist. There's more legit reasons like how they'll end support after 1 year, but a ton of games do that and are still niche successes. Main point, it fits the criteria for this list and is positively reviewed. Not listing it would show heavy bias.
Hey, I just bought a laptop and I wanna play some games that is not deprecated and wont be deprated for some time. I tried playing valorant but after i kept losing and getting abused by enemy and my team mates cant even kill 1. So finding good average game
@@prayaspatel6325 Hmm well the ones I've liked in recent years are Overcooked, Moving Out, Cuphead, Unravel 2, and Untitled Goose Game. Stardew Valley is also good for multiplayer if you have regular gaming friends and wanna hang out.
I feel like they need to add more fun multiplayer games not everyone cares about Fortnite , Sports & Car games. Where are the Multiplayer games at like fr local play is becoming more and more rare like they don’t want it around anymore or something back then I felt like a lot of games naturally came with local play options what a time.
There's lots of local play, even in this list. Cult of the Lamb is local co-op exclusively and many have confirmed split screen. Personally in the last few years I've played Cuphead, Overcooked, Moving Out, Unravel, Little Big Planet, and Untitled Goose Game extensively with my wife all in local co-op. There's also It Takes Two, A Way Out, LEGO games, and many more.
I personally wouldn't play any of these, but I understand the idea that based on reviews, a lot of people enjoy these games. These just aren't my cup of tea. Also, I've never seen a RUclipsr that responds to comments that they don't like and have back and forth arguments 😂 It's at least fresh.
Haha I like talking about video games, that's why I do this. And I really appreciate your reasonable approach to these games. Talking to people about video games is something I enjoy, so it's what I'd do anyway. It's not that I don't like the comments, but if people accuse me of something or if they say something that doesn't make sense, I'm going to want to either seek or provide clarity. If I just didn't like them, I could much more easily delete or ban people. If someone is trying to be straight up mean, well I like to make them feel silly about it.
The game with 71% positive ratings on Steam, some people like it. Whether it destroys the studio or not is far more to do with publisher decisions than game performance. Xbox just destroyed a bunch of studios right after they won awards, so I don't take studio destruction into account when looking at games.
Why would you post this embarrassingly untrue statement? You severely need a math lesson. 9 (nine) games in this list have fully released. Not early access, they're fully out right now. 3 more are planning full releases in 2024, so 12 (twelve) games from the list should be fully released this year. Then 4 (four) games are playable in early access right now and one of those is the highest rated game of 2023, so I don't see how early access doesn't count as something to play in 2024. We're at 16 games playable in 2024 from the list. Then 1 more has set an early access release in October making it 17. This brings us to 17/20 games we can consider playable in 2024. The remaining 3 estimated 2024 releases of some kind but they might be delayed.
Unfortunately because of bad actors, i have to ask you to specify exactly what you mean by DEI. As in say what you're referring to and what you think about it without shortcut terms. I'm sure you're reasonable, but because of who I am, that term is used as a racist dogwhistle by some people and the efficacy of a racial dogwhistle is not in that nobody knows who you’re clearly talking about, it’s the plausible deniability. I don't allow the plausible deniability on this channel anymore because of those people, so please define it or I have to ban.
@@GamerZakh I'm referring to Sub-Saharan phenotypes in a game based in a historical Scottish setting. Its deliberate and unnecessary infusion of peoples for the sake of box checking. The same could be said for a game that were based in ancient Zulu lore with Caucasian and Asianic phenotypes cast as "Zulu" warriors. In a historical settings peoples of distant lands without a story to explain their existence in the region is inaccurate and just plain lazy writing. It would be the same with putting a car in the setting without explanation. So no, it not about ill will toward any people group just the miss use of a setting and laziness to fit a check box. When done for the sake of story it can be very compelling, the 13th Warrior movie is a prime example.

If this list has interest, I have the idea of splitting this like I did some other genres. So I could focus on couch co-op, pve co-op, pvpve co-op, PvP team co-op, etc. I wish I could make a list for everything but I'm just one guy. I've already made 35 lists for 2024, there's a reason why most creators can't be so comprehensive.
Some people might enjoy immersing in beautiful graphic alone as single played or online with strangers. But my best gaming experience are in local co-op with friends and family. Nothing beats that. Bottom line is people need to socialize with people around them more. Especially when phone & social media occupied most time of their life.

Calling pvp games coop is always wrong. Please don't make people start calling them that. It's about as bad as calling a game like League an mmo just because the player base is big...
I did a poll, 30% of people consider MOBAs like Dota 2 to be 'co-op games'. That's a pretty large group of people to call objectively wrong and it's not my job to dictate who is wrong and who is right.
EDIT: For anyone else reading in future, HanakoSeishin began this conversation in another thread where they questioned what genre this video even was about, asking sarcastically if it was a "free MOBA" list even when there are zero free MOBAs in it (there is 1 MOBA and I explain in the video why it's there). They have a history over the last few years of questioning me on how I curate my lists and how genres are defined, but despite the numerous conversations we've had, they just don't agree with how I curate genres. In this particular case, I finally asked them to make a list of co-op games themselves to not only show exactly how they would curate the genre but also demonstrate their understanding and reasoning through concrete choices. Hanako adamantly refused to write their own list, they're willing to write thousands of words over many days to argue their point, but they absolutely will not put their money where their mouth is and just write a list of games. It would've been faster if they just wrote their own list considering how confident they are. They even said that choices were 'obvious' and 'simple', but they will not do the obvious and simple thing of writing a list of games. It's clear that despite their façade of absolute certainty, they're not actually sure at all how to curate a list of a genre of games themselves, they're just upset their personal favourite game they think should be here isn't. They then stopped replying here and began restarting the conversation in other locations on my channel. Every time I push them to proving their point, they stop replying and restart the conversation somewhere else, replying to other people's comments targeting me. Their tactic is to restart the conversation again and again until they find someone who agrees with them instead of actually proving their point. The following thread is here for posterity. Original reply: I have a couple lists to make where that will fit. I currently have it for my Pirate and Coziest lists. When it comes to game genres and curating list videos, any game can fit into any genre if you try hard enough. So how do you pick which list to put a game in? For example, if we look at user defined tags for Cat Quest 2 (not 3 because tags tend to stabilise after release), the top tags are: "Adventure, Exploration, Action RPG, Hack & Slash, Character Customisation" Does that mean I should list Cat Quest 3 in my Adventure games list with games like Indiana Jones? My Action RPG list with games like The Witcher? My Hack & Slash RPG list of Diablo-like games? All 3 of them having it appear again and again? Those all feel wrong for Cat Quest 3. You can of course say it should be in this co-op list, that's not wrong. 'Local co-op' is the 7th user defined tag for Cat Quest 2 and 9th for Cat Quest 3. It is a game with local co-op, but is it a "co-op game"? For some yes, for others no. You mentioned Larian games as expected in a co-op list in your other comment. BG3 does have the 'online co-op' user tag at the 10th spot. But is it more of an online co-op game or is it an RPG, CRPG, Turn-based Tactics, and a D&D game? It has co-op, but is it a "co-op game"? Again for some yes some no. So this puts game genre curation in a weird spot. Do I listen to what people say it should be categorised as? If yes then who? The majority consider Cat Quest to be more of an action adventure pirate RPG. Do I listen to them? Or do I listen to you, who says it's a co-op game? Neither are wrong. Alternatively, do I list Cat Quest 3 in every genre possible? If I do that, every list I make would have the same games again and again and they'll all be hundreds of games long. I can't do it for just Cat Quest 3, every game needs to be in every relevant genre list. That doesn't seem right either and it would make the lists bloated, repetitive, and kind of useless. So what's the best approach here? What would you do in my situation?
@@GamerZakh I guess you could say Larian games ruined co-op games for me, because after them I can't take most games advertised as co-op seriously. I'm especially salty about how Genshin Impact was advertised as co-op... and now instead of the actually worth mentioning Cat Quest 3 you're bringing up more free-to-play and MOBA sh... stuff (okay, maybe it wasn't a free-to-play MOBA, and instead it's free-to-play and MOBA as separate items on the list... I didn't care enough for them to remember which was which). A question of whether something is RPG or Turn-based tactics at least makes sense (and I think in case of BG3 it's pretty clear the answer is it's CRPG first and foremost as tactics just appear as element of that... also in case of Cat Quest I think it's clearly an Adventure before anything else, as neither RPG or hack-and-slash elements are any deep - indeed there aren't even any dialogue options, at least there weren't in the two games so far), but in case of a question of whether something is RPG or co-op, it's not just a question with no definitive answer, it's a nonsensical question to begin with. Because co-op isn't a genre in a way RPG is. So it's like asking if something is RPG or isometric, or if something is RPG or fantasy. But what if it's isometric fantasy! And then you're gonna ask if Cat Quest is adventure or cozy... I also don't quite understand the question "so should I put it on both lists" coming from you as if you're not already putting like half if not most of the games on more than one list. And the answer also seems to be quite an obvious yes. I think that if someone is looking specifically for a good co-op experience, then it makes sense that they would look in the list specifically titled co-op, rather than go through list of each genre (let alone subgenre) they might be interested in (especially seeing how your classification of games by genres isn't something everyone can agree with, so to be sure one would have to check all the lists in case something they would actually be interested in gets categorized as something else) and sort through dozens of games seeing if any of them mention co-op (also relying on you not forgetting to mention co-op in lists not dedicated to that). On the other hand people not looking for co-op will not look at the co-op list and thus not be annoyed by it featuring games they already saw in the genre lists. And if someone is watching all the lists just in case or to kill time, then it's on them, and the lists are already featuring a lot of repetition, so one more - and this time where it actually makes sense - won't make much difference.
@@HanakoSeishin I can understand the salt about Genshin, it's not something I've ever been into and I've never mentioned it for many reasons. And yeah the non-sensical problem is the problem with making genre list videos. See you feel like "as if you're not already putting like half if not most of the games on more than one list", but that's just not true. In 99% of cases, a game I list is in 2 lists: 1. The subgenre (like Path of Exile 2 in the ARPG list) 2. The megalist compilation (the full RPG list of all RPGs) You won't find Path of Exile 2 in any other list. It's not in the Action RPG list, even though many consider it an Action RPG. It's not in the CRPG list, even though it's classic in many ways and isometric like classic RPGs. Path of Exile 2 is in two lists. You say it's an obvious yes to put every game into every list, but I haven't been doing that and when I do it doesn't work. Every list would be 100-300 games long and make no sense to anyone looking for any genre of game. What you're proposing is that every one of my subgenre RPG lists should include every game from every other RPG list. So instead of: 1. ARPG 2. CRPG 3. Action RPG 4. First-person RPG 5. Tactical RPG 6. General RPG 7. All RPGs You are saying every RPG list should include every RPG, so you get: 1. All RPGs 2. All RPGs 3. All RPGs 4. All RPGs 5. All RPGs 6. All RPGs 7. All RPGs Basically, just 1 megalist that a LOT of people do not watch and is impossible for me to produce in one shot and cover my costs. See how it doesn't work? As you say, "I think that if someone is looking specifically for a good co-op experience, then it makes sense that they would look in the list specifically titled co-op" Yes! That's exactly it! And the majority of people do not consider Cat Quest as a co-op game first, so they won't be here looking for it. Your suggestion is an impossibility not just in terms of a creator's ability to create, it doesn't actually solve the problem.
@@HanakoSeishin Think of it this way, as I mentioned you can argue any game into any genre. Cat Quest is tagged RPG, but you say it isn't an RPG, so does it go into the RPG list or not? So let's say we combine every RPG into the RPG megalist. Okay. Now RPGs have combat systems, combat means there's tactics and strategy, in fact usually an RPG has some kind of 'strategy' user tag on Steam. So that means every RPG needs to appear in every Strategy games list as well, right? So the RPG and Strategy lists are now combined. But wait, first person shooters need tactics and strategy too! So every FPS is combined. Now we have a list of RPGs, Strategy games, and FPS games all in one giant 'Strategy' list. Oh then we have simulation games, economical strategy is also required and often a user tag on sims, so Simulation games get mixed in as well. If you actually follow through with what you're proposing, what you end up with is one single megalist of every game in existence. Not even mentioning the people who say if an old game is still popular today I should list it, like those saying I should list X4 (from 2018) in my 2024 list because it's a good game that people still play. So if I keep just listening to what people want, you literally get every game that has ever existed in 1 infinite list of games. I mean, do you genuinely think Cat Quest should be listed next to The Witcher and Diablo? Because that's your proposal right now. You can say that you would prefer that, but I can guarantee that it won't work for a list when put into practice. You said: 1. "in case of Cat Quest I think it's clearly an Adventure before anything else, as neither RPG or hack-and-slash elements are any deep" but also... 2. "the answer also seems to be quite an obvious yes" to me listing a game in all lists with any relevant tag These statements don't work together, so the 'obvious' bit is very weird when it's the opposite of obvious even in your own post. This all boils down to, once again, these lists not making sense for people who have never tried to make lists before. Try it yourself, which games would you list in a 2024 co-op games list? No matter what you list, I will be able to criticise it in 100 different ways. You have criticised my lists multiple times now, so really as an exercise, make a list of 2024 co-op games and you will quickly see why it's way more complicated than you think and not obvious at all.
@@GamerZakh > You say it's an obvious yes to put every game into every list That's NOT what I'm saying. I'm not saying to put it into every genre list, I'm saying that it doesn't make sense to exclude it from the co-op list because it's already in a genre list. It's the same as if you made a sci-fi games list and then excluded games from it because they're already in an RPG or RTS or whatever list. > And the majority of people do not consider Cat Quest as a co-op game first Again you're putting a question like whether it's adventure or co-op first, which makes no sense. It's as if you had a list of sci-fi games and then excluded games from it that are already in like RPG or RTS lists. Or if you made a list of pixel art games and then excluded something because it's already in the RPG list or sci-fi list. You can sort things into black things list and white things list and then have an odd grey thing which you have to decide if it's more white or more black - that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is when you're trying to sort things into white things list and fluffy things list and then you say you can't put a white fluffy thing in both and have to decide if it's more white than fluffy. And that somehow if I tell you to put a white fluffy thing into both white list and fluffy list it somehow means I'm also asking you to put it in all the black and blue and red lists. Black, white, blue and red are all classes in the same classification: by color, and fluffy or bald is a whole separate classification altogether. There's no such thing as "majority of people do not expect a white fluffy thing in the list of fluffy things because they don't consider it a fluffy thing first", because you can argue about a zebra if it's white with black stripes or black with white stipes, but it doesn't make sense to argue if something is more fluffy than white. "More fluffy than white" is just a nonsensical set of words rather than a meaningful phrase, and similarly so is "it's more adventure than co-op". Co-op is not a gameplay genre like RPG or RTS, it's a form of multiplayer, and as co-op is the only form of multiplayer in Cat Quest 3, it's thus co-op first because it has no other forms of multiplayer to stand before co-op. It's as co-op as it gets without becoming exclusively co-op like It Takes Two. Meanwhile a MOBA certainly is NOT co-op first, because in terms of forms of multiplayer it's a MOBA first. In conclusion, I'm sure people looking specifically for co-op (and not like, you know, MOBA) would be happy to see Cat Quest 3 on the list, certainly more so than see a MOBA or whatever. P.S. It can even be argued that Cat Quest 2 at least (seeing how 3 isn't released yet so we can only assume it's the same) is more co-op than singleplayer, because even in singleplayer you have the second character follow you around controlled by the computer, as if it's just a stand-in for a second player for the case you don't have one, and you can switch between characters because you want to use skills from both. Although I would also say that if you had a list of singleplayer games, you should include Cat Quest 3 in both singleplayer and co-op, because it can fully be played as either, and people seeking for single player wouldn't mind an optional co-op mode, same as people seeking for co-op wouldn't mind an optional single-player mode.
Helldivers 2 was, one of the best games until they desteoyed amthe community. They finally rolled back their, "Players love this weapon moat, lets debuff it" mentality (for now) But the game just.... not as fun. people aren't as silly because when the game stopped being fun, most of us left. Now? There are even people ruining matches because of actual sexism! Its crazy. I have been a gamer moat of my life and can distinguish between actual hate and just (censored) talking, or cringe talk. Its so rare to see the actual kind of hate the news pretends is overflowing.
In this list is the highest user rated game of 2023 and likely the biggest game of 2024 lol. If you don't like anything here, you just don't like the genre.
You may already know that the gaming community is very toxic right now and when there is a top list of something, there will always be at least 1 or more saying "all these games are trash" just because their games are not included or not. have to disqualify them, I can understand this is a personal opinion but still a lot of people don't like someone's top list and curse them like crying 3 year olds who can't create their own review list because of them not as famous as you and no one will watch or respect the times you explain in detail to those 3 year olds why you chose these games even though this is your personal opinion even so they don't understand every word you say because their level is too poor to understand what you say (so if Steam has 50k games, you must have the top 50k best games on Steam to please them :] ) / personally I just like 1-2 game, don't really like all the games in here, and even if there isn't a game I like, I won't be rude like some of the people in this video
Hey thank you for understanding and your approach of finding 1-2 games in a list is exactly what they're for. No one is going to like every game in a list, they're so different from each other even in the same genre that's impossible. I do like explaining why things are the way they are, I just wish people asked questions first and actually wanted the answer. Typically, they ask a sarcastic question which is more an accusation than a question, then when I give a real answer they just get more mad. I wonder which games lists they are watching where they are actually happy? Because some of these problems are impossible to solve for everyone. Even if I listed 50K games, people would complain "too much" and "might as well just go to Steam and list all upcoming games, pointless list", which I start to get when I list more than 50 games, let alone 50K.
@@GamerZakhWhat you say is very true, but instead of them coming here to find games they might like, they choose to talk harshly about other people's personal opinions, which I don't like very much (and I know I can't please them). please the audience because even if you say it right they will still find a way to make you wrong like I gave an example of 50k games / the reason I say that is because I'm afraid you won't be happy to explain if you enjoy It's quite fun like what I'm doing) so please continue to spread your opinion, it's worth it.
@@dontaccoll Because it is one of the best for this year. 'Best' doesn't mean 'good' or 'amazing', it means better than others. Suicide Squad has 70% positive on Steam and the main criticism is overmonetisation. Since the big sales the playercount doubled and it's now gone free on other platforms, and the feedback is it's pretty good once you don't have to pay through the nose to enjoy it. Also you can dislike or not, it's not required for me to provide explanations. Ask any question and I'll answer, that's how I've always done things. I enjoy talking about video games.
@300ape Here's a full explanation because you didn't get it the first time in this thread: The fact there is a worse reviewed game on the list and you're fine with that indicates the problem. 70% positive user reviews is real and I have to be objective. 7/10 people who played it recommend it, but I'm 'insane' for including it? The insanity seems to be the disproportionate blind hate from a minority who are fine with worse games but hate on this one because it's easy to hate. Not saying it's an absolutely amazing game for everyone, but there are worse and much worse games that people are fine with and enjoy no problem, and you're even fine with me listing one of those here. In 9/10 cases, like this thread, the person criticising me for including the game stops responding after my explanation, which reinforces that the hate it's getting is disproportionate. "Why? Why? Disliked until explanation" I'm told, then they ignore the explanation. This just tells me the dislikes don't mean much and besides, this video is still very positive on the like ratio. Almost everyone, around 95% of people (not exaggerating), who criticise this video are first time commenters too, like you and the original commenter here. Never commented before and I half expect you won't reply anymore either because you're another stranger who doesn't know me or the context of this video. You're not interested in any kind of explanation that you disagree with. You prefer it when creators reinforce what you already like, is the vibe I'm getting from all these first time commenters who never reply. I'd like it if you replied, I like talking about games, but if you're another drive by stranger who doesn't want to talk about this reasonably, then we can both move on pretty easily with this exchange having no weight or meaning.
Suicide Squad is not a minor success. It's a major failure because it's a piece of shit game! The simple fact that you have it on any kind of "best coop list" deserves a downvote and a "do not recommend."
I have not seen evidence of Steam full on deleting user reviews. When there are 'off topic' reviews, it filters them out by default but the review score gets an asterix and you can reveal the 'off topic' reviews again and count it to the score. This game doesn't have that. Looking up Steam review deleting for the game, there's no evidence it happened. I keep seeing people say "there were 7k reviews now it's 2k" thing, but other tracker sites don't show that happening and not a single person screenshotted the 7K negative review score? So many people floating about the games failure and not one person screenshotted the negative score? If you have evidence please do share, because it'd be a big story. Steam's entire integrity would crumble. Every game's user score on Steam would be called into question. None of them could be taken as real. So please, evidence or it has to remain a conspiracy theory.
Hey do you have any evidence? I'd love to make a video showcasing the corruption and bring attention to it, I just need any kind of evidence to point to. Please do share so we can get the word out.
@GamerZakh lol did u even play the game? They still haven't even fixed bugs that have been there since launch. Literally looked on steam it has 0 players playing lol.
@@brandonneifert3199 Hey, you said Steam deleted negative reviews. Don't change the topic, that's a serious accusation. Where's the evidence of reviews being deleted? 71% positive, don't tell me it's bad, tell the 71% of people who recommended the game.
Best doesn't mean 'amazing' or 'good', it means the other options are not as good. Suicide Squad has 70% positive rating on Steam, people generally like it. The main criticism was the overmonetisation and high price. With the discounts, the playercount actually tripled, and it's just gone free on other platforms. Also, platforms are in the description. Those change over time, so putting them in the video would mean the video just gets more wrong as announcements happen.
Did it to themselfs tho community driven game kinda dies when u think u can get political wit a base that doesn't care and are generally disrespectful when balancing weapons and items people like.95% of us let them know we're not sticking around long enough to watch ruin something we loved again
Putting suicide squad on a best games list makes me gag. You actually cannot be serious. The "you dont like the genre" retort is no excuse for hyping that omwga trash dumpsterfire they tried to pass off as a game.
@@welds8424 That retort isn't for you or for people who criticise that game. Don't conflate the two, they're unrelated. And 70% positive on Steam, the fact there is a worse reviewed game on the list but you don't notice it is the problem here.
@welds8424 Do you want a proper explanation or would you rather just hate on the video? I'm okay either way, will answer if you want answers. I mean, you somehow skipped the 70% positive rating point multiple times but used unrelated retorts I said to other people to try and call me out. If we're talking about wrongs... If you don't reply it'll just tell me you're another first time commenter who just wants to hate, so I can dismiss you pretty easily and we can both move on.
@@GamerZakh That's what depressing, so many different games yet I feel like none of them have something new that's interesting to me to offer. I've liked many games of different genres, with RPG games in general being my favorites, but nowadays nothing feels new, it's always the same things and I feel like I've already played all the different kind of games the market has to offer. It's not your fault. But thanks for trying to provide these detailed lists.
Destiny is one of the biggest games in the world ever. It's currently the 14th most played game on Steam. If that's your definition for a dead game then you really don't have much to play huh.
@@dollthine7978 When was it alive then? I play so many co-op games with my wife. Overcooked, Moving Out, Cuphead, Unravel, Little Big Planet, Untitled Goose Game, Lego games. Then on a larger scale, Helldivers 2 is probably going to be the biggest game of this year and it has zero PvP, it's all PvE co-op and it has millions of players while the highest rated game of last year is Lethal Company.
@@GamerZakh the what genre? free to play MOBA? sure. Cause from a list of co-op we were expecting things like Larian's games or at least like Cat Quest 3 or such.
@@HanakoSeishin That's what you're expecting, not 'we'. Larian games? That's not the usual expectation for co-op games. I wouldn't list BG3 in a co-op games list. Like I ask in the video, what really counts as a "co-op game"? Any game with multiplayer and it isn't just PvP? There are thousands of games that could fit if that was the criteria. This is far more complicated than you're presenting it. I asked more specifically about Cat Quest in your other comment. I mention a single free to play MOBA in the video for reasons explained in the video itself. 1/20 games and you think this is a free to play MOBA list? Really? Please don't get weirdly snarky man. If you want to prove a point, write your list of 2024 co-op games and we can compare and learn. I even say in the video that Smite 2 doesn't really fit this list. Like I say it, I even explain more in the outro. Did you watch the video or did you just read the titles? Edit: Oh sorry, I forgot Smite 2 is paid, Smite 1 is free. There are actually zero free to play MOBAs in this video.

You picked some of the WORST games ever! Why can't companies makes REAL games that have good graphics (not cartoonish shit), and NO UNDEAD BS in it? I'm sick and tired of all the CRAP coming from game companies anymore.
I picked games that are, I can't tell you about games that don't exist. What 2024 co-op game are you thinking of? Is this a criticism of my list or game companies?
Oh not to mention this list includes the highest rated game on Steam for 2023 and what's likely to be the biggest most played game of 2024. You really have to define what's good or bad for you here.
@@stevenA44 But what are you criticising of me? For telling you about the best co-op games being made for 2024? Are you saying I should make up games that don't exist? You're not making sense.
@@GamerZakh I just don't agree with your pick of games is all. Just because they were "top games" in 2023 (or any year) doesn't make them good games in my opinion. No I'm not saying you should make up game, unless you can make some that are worth playing. Also, the kinds of games I like are NON PvP games, NON cartoonish games, games that require you to eat or drink to keep your health up, single player games (I want multiplayer co-op games). There's a lot of other things too, but this is just a start. I also am tired of any undead (zombies, ghouls, demons and crap) games. Let me just fight regular human NPCs and normal beasts.
More details for all games in the description, platforms, crossplay, etc. Check out Super Battle Polycars on Steam: bit.ly/SBP_Zakh [ad] Thanks to Yooper Game Studios for sponsoring. ALSO, it turns out people have 2 very different definitions of what a 'co-op game' is and you don't know the other half of people even exist! Here's what I've found after investigating...
These are the 2 definitions people have:
1. A singleplayer experience that can be shared (Baldur's Gate 3, Stardew Valley, Satisfactory)
2. A multiplayer experience that can often be done alone if at all (Helldivers 2, Lethal Company, Trine)
A poll even showed that 60% of people consider Baldur's Gate 3 a 'co-op game' and expect to find games like that in lists like these while 40% do NOT! Anyway, if you're confused or upset at the curation of games in this video, this is why, because like you I didn't know there was this split of perspectives on what a 'co-op game' is and I'll have to think of a solution on how to organise co-op games in the future.

I was about to comment complaining about a lack of release dates, so thank you lol
I recommend Max Payne 3 multiplayer, its so fun and still played on PC
it is great that this one shows a lot of unknown games other videos just put the most popular games that everybody knows
Yeah there'd be a lot of interest overlap for co-op players and party games, so still a good recommendation!
I second this, it's a really good couch multiplayer game if you just want to have some lighthearted fun with your friends or partner
Should be noted the Helldivers 2 think isn't totally resolved. A lot of countries are still locked out of the game that didn't used to be.
Still can't add pc players as friends
They aren't missing out on anything
Since you have been adding Early Access titles that are already available: I like to mention Roboquest, it's a really good co-op rogue-lite, great gunplay and style, has funky weapons and a good progression. Gets big updates working up to the release still.
I do include early access games for up to 3-4 years depending, but have to note that Roboquest fully released in 2023, so it's no longer a new game coming in 2024. Good game though.
Great video! These are always a highlight for my gaming nerdiness! Even if I’m not interested in a single game, rarely the case, I love these. Thank you and keep up the great work!

rita's rewind looks freaking dope
See the problem with video game release dates is 2 fold:
1. Many games only get a release date as short as 2 months before release
2. Even if games have a specific release date, they can and are often delayed into the next year
So how do you make any forward-looking list videos with any kind of certainty? Really it's impossible, but myself after making these videos for 10 years I have a stronger sense of what is more likely to become playable and what isn't. I'm not 100% correct of course, as you say I'm not psychic and I don't have a crystal ball, but I'm more experienced than most.
The choice is:
A) List only games with release dates and still be wrong because of delays, surprise releases, and cancellations
B) List games with release dates and those without but have likely odds of releasing and still be wrong but be more informational and often more correct
I opt for B and after 10 years, my predictions are more right than wrong anyway.

Disappointed that Kill the Justice League is on any list with "best" in the title. Except "Best games that ruin the name of the studio behind them"
I mean it's got 71% positive on Steam, so there are people who enjoy it.

Sure thing, thanks for the view and comment. If you're not able to take games objectively then you won't find a lot of games you're looking for.

If someone is trying to be straight up mean, well I like to make them feel silly about it.
why is sucide squad on this list its so bad that it bascily destroyed the studio if i dont remeber wrong
The game with 71% positive ratings on Steam, some people like it. Whether it destroys the studio or not is far more to do with publisher decisions than game performance. Xbox just destroyed a bunch of studios right after they won awards, so I don't take studio destruction into account when looking at games.
Outward 2 for the win!!
Have these games dont come out til next year, and 1-2 r in early access now...on pc
Tears of Metal looks very DEI for "Celtic" inspired setting.

Cat Quest 3 where?
Original reply:
I have a couple lists to make where that will fit. I currently have it for my Pirate and Coziest lists. When it comes to game genres and curating list videos, any game can fit into any genre if you try hard enough. So how do you pick which list to put a game in?
For example, if we look at user defined tags for Cat Quest 2 (not 3 because tags tend to stabilise after release), the top tags are:
"Adventure, Exploration, Action RPG, Hack & Slash, Character Customisation"
Does that mean I should list Cat Quest 3 in my Adventure games list with games like Indiana Jones?
In 99% of cases, a game I list is in 2 lists:
1. The subgenre (like Path of Exile 2 in the ARPG list)
2. The megalist compilation (the full RPG list of all RPGs)
You won't find Path of Exile 2 in any other list.
So instead of:
1. ARPG
2. CRPG
3. Action RPG
4. First-person RPG
5. Tactical RPG
6. General RPG
7. All RPGs
You are saying every RPG list should include every RPG, so you get:
1. All RPGs
2. All RPGs
3. All RPGs
4. All RPGs
5. All RPGs
6. All RPGs
7. All RPGs
Basically, just 1 megalist that a LOT of people do not watch and is impossible for me to produce in one shot and cover my costs. See how it doesn't work? As you say, "I think that if someone is looking specifically for a good co-op experience, then it makes sense that they would look in the list specifically titled co-op"
Yes!
You said:
1. "in case of Cat Quest I think it's clearly an Adventure before anything else, as neither RPG or hack-and-slash elements are any deep"
but also...
2. "the answer also seems to be quite an obvious yes" to me listing a game in all lists with any relevant tag
These statements don't work together, so the 'obvious' bit is very weird when it's the opposite of obvious even in your own post.
@@GamerZakh
> You say it's an obvious yes to put every game into every list
That's NOT what I'm saying. I'm not saying to put it into every genre list, I'm saying that it doesn't make sense to exclude it from the co-op list because it's already in a genre list. It's the same as if you made a sci-fi games list and then excluded games from it because they're already in an RPG or RTS or whatever list.
> And the majority of people do not consider Cat Quest as a co-op game first
Again you're putting a question like whether it's adventure or co-op first, which makes no sense.

@@GamerZakhWhat you say is very true, but instead of them coming here to find games they might like, they choose to talk harshly about other people's personal opinions, which I don't like very much (and I know I can't please them). please the audience because even if you say it right they will still find a way to make you wrong like I gave an example of 50k games / the reason I say that is because I'm afraid you won't be happy to explain if you enjoy It's quite fun like what I'm doing) so please continue to spread your opinion, it's worth it.

this video is titled best new coop... (best)!!! so how come that suicide squad is in the list? eh? why? why.
disliked unltil further explaination
@@dontaccoll Because it is one of the best for this year. 'Best' doesn't mean 'good' or 'amazing', it means better than others. Suicide Squad has 70% positive on Steam and the main criticism is overmonetisation. Since the big sales the playercount doubled and it's now gone free on other platforms, and the feedback is it's pretty good once you don't have to pay through the nose to enjoy it. Also you can dislike or not, it's not required for me to provide explanations. Ask any question and I'll answer, that's how I've always done things. I enjoy talking about video games.
Well I hope that answered your question. If you have any others just let me know and I'll get back to you.
@@300apes lol what a basic troll, banned.
Suicide Squad is not a minor success. It's a major failure because it's a piece of shit game! The simple fact that you have it on any kind of "best coop list" deserves a downvote and a "do not recommend."
Okay bye.
lol SS kill the justice league isnt a good game 10/10 dont recommend. a majority of reviews were negative they got deleted.
So you made that up huh?
@GamerZakh lol did u even play the game? They still haven't even fixed bugs that have been there since launch. Literally looked on steam it has 0 players playing lol.
@@brandonneifert3199 Hey, you said Steam deleted negative reviews. Don't change the topic, that's a serious accusation. Where's the evidence of reviews being deleted? 71% positive, don't tell me it's bad, tell the 71% of people who recommended the game.
"Best coop" and suicide squad is on the list?? ARE YOU ON CRACK?? Also, it would be nice if you mentioned what platforms the games are available on.
Which game are you talking about here?
Putting suicide squad on a best games list makes me gag. You actually cannot be serious. The "you dont like the genre" retort is no excuse for hyping that omwga trash dumpsterfire they tried to pass off as a game.
@@welds8424 That retort isn't for you or for people who criticise that game. Don't conflate the two, they're unrelated. And 70% positive on Steam, the fact there is a worse reviewed game on the list but you don't notice it is the problem here.
@@GamerZakh 2 wrongs dont make a right keke
@welds8424 Do you want a proper explanation or would you rather just hate on the video? I'm okay either way, will answer if you want answers. I mean, you somehow skipped the 70% positive rating point multiple times but used unrelated retorts I said to other people to try and call me out. If we're talking about wrongs... If you don't reply it'll just tell me you're another first time commenter who just wants to hate, so I can dismiss you pretty easily and we can both move on.
Another uninteresting year for gaming. What a bore.
What kind of games do you like? I've listed about 400 games for 2024 so far. You really don't have any new games you like?
@@GamerZakh That's what depressing, so many different games yet I feel like none of them have something new that's interesting to me to offer. I've liked many games of different genres, with RPG games in general being my favorites, but nowadays nothing feels new, it's always the same things and I feel like I've already played all the different kind of games the market has to offer. It's not your fault. But thanks for trying to provide these detailed lists.
Helldivers died its deader then destiny 2 now
Destiny is one of the biggest games in the world ever. It's currently the 14th most played game on Steam. If that's your definition for a dead game then you really don't have much to play huh.
Multiplayer gaming is dead
@@dollthine7978 When was it alive then? I play so many co-op games with my wife. Overcooked, Moving Out, Cuphead, Unravel, Little Big Planet, Untitled Goose Game, Lego games. Then on a larger scale, Helldivers 2 is probably going to be the biggest game of this year and it has zero PvP, it's all PvE co-op and it has millions of players while the highest rated game of last year is Lethal Company.
Ummm no. 😂
all of them trash
Haha sure~ If you don't like a single game then you just don't like the genre.
@@GamerZakh iwas looking for single player games that gte me more into the story with my friend not like in this video iwill see another videos of yours and see what i can find
Dude show just trash games
Ah yes, multiple 9/10 games rated by users, biggest game of 2024, highest rated game of 2023. 'Trash'. If you don't like a single game in the list, you just don't like the genre.
@@GamerZakh i like co-op games but here i just See trash
@@mooncockie5689 So which co-op game do you like? The last person who said these were all trash said their favourite co-op game was a competitive racing game with no co-op mode lol
@@GamerZakh Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint, Far cry 3, 4 and 5, Borderlands 2 and 3.. i search for other co-op shooter
@@mooncockie5689 Ahh you like shooters specifically and only, that would explain it. Not into Helldivers 2 then? You might be more into the first-person shooter list instead: ruclips.net/video/E04GR7XOMc4/видео.html Many of them would have co-op game modes.
@@GamerZakh It's a criticism of both.
