I loved Søren Rasted’s Lazyboy project, hadn’t listened to his album in ages, having Lene on a track was like having a little Aqua reunion at the time 😊
I completely agree with everything you said. I remember this album probably being the reason I installed Limewire on the ol' family PC. I think it's interesting how everyone has a different favourite track, proving they're all bangers (which is more than can be said for what ended up being that third Aqua album). Up In Smoke is the one I keep going back to time after time.
Great doc as always. I’m not sold on her solo material. I’ve always felt Xenomania productions for a soloist don’t work because their sound is too chaotic that it doesn’t lend itself to showcase an individual. In a band it feels like its chaos represents a group of people’s influences, even if they’re not the creators personally. I’d have loved Lene to have leaned more into Natalie Imbruglia’s lane. Think Torn and Turn Back Time. She has a great voice. The performance on The Voice was great. I think it was just the wrong sound for her, not a lack of talent.
@@popunderratedI didn’t look too much into who produced what. Just assumed from the sound of the album that they had a heavy hand in it. I still think with a different sound she could have found solo success. The album just feels mediocre.
I got this album as a Japanese import (I'm American) at the time and remember thinking it was just so-so, whereas I loved Aqua (especially the first album). I don't think her voice is strong enough to carry a solo album (which isn't to say that it's bad).
Let's be real here that the first single was horrible, very outdated even at the time, should've done dance techno songs like " Rosses are red " but she totally missed the mark even in Aqua comeback they didnt meture with their sound
Iconic. Legendary. Full of bops. Underrated af.
Here We Go is such an incredible bop that I adore all three versions

Lene is a great artist 💖
Funnily enough I recently picked up this on CD in Malaysia (along with Billie Piper's discography on cassette!)

loved "pretty young thing" (shoutout to Stella Soleil, the fab original singer/songwriter) and "virgin superstar" also "scream"
bops!
GWEN STEFANI has ALOT to thank Lene for if you listen to her Love Angel Music Baby album
Lot of potential but maybe mismanagement and lack of promotion. Especially in other european countries like Germany this could’ve done better…

I get what you're saying, however Xenomania only worked on 2 of the songs that eventually made the album.

Very unique voice. I can’t say that I LIKE her voice, she’s no Mariah, but it’s distinctive.

The album sounds good in retrospect, but when it was relesed it wasn't that good.

So many girls aloud songs 😂
