Yes! Absolutely! I love them! Great Funk band! Scottish Funk Band! They have been “Considered” for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but not chosen? Why not? “Pick Up The Pieces” “Cut The Cake” “Soul Searching” “School Boy Crush” “Queen of My Soul” “Person to Person” These are Just a few! Great reaction Ashley! 👍🏽👍🏽👏👏❤️❤️😎😎💗💗💕💕🔥🔥
Between the Average White Band and Heatwave there was no shortage of blue eyed soul when I was younger. Nice seeing you enjoy the music I grew up with.
Known as "Blue Eyed Soul" Brothers of the 70s from Scotland... You should do a deep dive on these guys because they have a large music catalog. It doesn't get better than this.💯🔥🎶💖
This is one of my ALL-TIME favorite groups. I've performed their songs soooo many times. I never, ever, eeeeever get tired of playing or listening to them. Unc is gonna have to spend some time with Auntie behind this.🤨
This is song has always just MELTED me from the first note, and it always will. I used to go to see AWB and Tower of Power every year. I am SO grateful to have grown up in the best musical era there will EVER be. ✨️😊💛
I’m learning to play the guitar. I have so much respect for great guitar players like Ernie Isley and BB King. What they do with a guitar is from another world.
This was great but an even better version was done by AWB Live at Montreux 1977. It's on RUclips. Also their Work To Do from the same concert. Another great one is Love Is Here To Stay Thomas Dybdahl (Live from NRK Studio 1).
The hand on the hip and back up straight says everything. They all have beautiful black wives. Scottish and German have the best funk and RnB on the planet......I was shocked!!
Very very cool to see new children enjoy the grove of great music. My ear has 65 years of every kind of dam what is that moment. Try Harry Nelson he was the Beatles favorite guy.
The man in the center Mr. Rod Temperton, top center later wrote for Michael Jackson, & many other stars. I think he, in collaboration with other members, wrote that song. Of course, that was in my collection. Rod Temperton became a producer also. Even though White, he felt music. That was the genius of him. Until he died, I think in the late 90's or early-mid 2000's. Also they played all the instruments. Yes, including the saxophone. I, I think like you, are a music conesiure!!!
One of my all-time favorite groups. Scottish funk and soul at its finest! Next, drop some nasty funk with School Boy Crush. Album versions of AWB are recommended for production value. Pick Up the Pieces and Cut The Cake were big hits for this band.
We used to have basement parties and we used to play this music. this is during the 70s going into the 80s. This is where you could have fun meet your girl I’ll get stabbed or shot it when parties were having fun enjoying your youth.
You probably don’t know that the AWB originally came from Dundee, Scotland 🏴 - you can tell by their names😂 Hamish Stuart, Onnie McIntyre, Alan Gorrie, Malcolm Duncan, Robbie McIntosh. Hamish used to sing with a band called Dream Police. Superb band. ❤
The most deceptive name in musical history. Ain't nothing average about these White dudes. They should have called themselves The Exceptional White Band. They were totally embraced by the Black community & you can see why. The tenor sax is being played by the late, great Malcolm Duncan. The falsetto vocals are by Hamish Stuart backed by Alan Gorrie. And you're right it didn't matter what color they were. We loved them back in the day. Please checkout Bobby Caldwell and do pick-up the sax again.
Not bad for a bunch of white guys. lol. If I knew a sax could move a beautiful woman like this in such a way, I would have made it my life’s task to be the best sax player in the world.🤪
Too bad generations XY and Z missed out on much of the 60's 70's and 80's music where bands actually wrote and mastered instruments singing heart warming lyrics. As a 50's BOOMER, I was disappointed when music arts and theory was taken out of schools. Hip Hop and rap is the destructive alternative the later generations were left with, deteriorating younger minds. The history of blues, soul, R&B, Rock & Roll and Funk is so rick and beautiful I am happy you are discovering sharing it with your current generations. Keep it alive, Thank you !
Crazy how a white Scottish band is one of the most sampled bands in Hip Hop. Lol
It is said: talent doesn't discriminate, people do.
True facts thx
Amen.
DEM WHITE BOYS WAS NO JOKE THE WHOLE ALBUM WAS A HIT!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of the coldest slow jams period
Without question. 💛
Facts all time favorite 😍
I'm so glad I grew up at a time when music was music 😊
Yes indeed 😊
Some bad brothers from Scotland
One of The Great "Blue Eyed Soul" groups of the 70's the "AWB" ✅✅💯💯👍🏾👍🏾🔥🔥
Scotland Funk...
They were "BAD!!!"🎸
Dang this era of music was so amazing!! Nothing average about them! Glad to have been around for all of this greatness
The Average White Band wasn't average by far
Naw. Not at all.
Blue eyed Soul right there.
I couldn't wait to see your face when you heard the first verse......These guys were GREAT!! PERIOD!!
Right?! That's what I was looking for. I always say to myself, "How you just gon' start the song like that?" I knew her face would agree 😂
Yes! Absolutely! I love them! Great Funk band! Scottish Funk Band!
They have been “Considered” for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but not chosen? Why not?
“Pick Up The Pieces”
“Cut The Cake”
“Soul Searching”
“School Boy Crush”
“Queen of My Soul”
“Person to Person”
These are Just a few!
Great reaction Ashley! 👍🏽👍🏽👏👏❤️❤️😎😎💗💗💕💕🔥🔥
Not in the hall? Did not know that. A travesty.
@@jayhooks6031 I was surprised Jay! It is an abomination sir! 👍🏽👏👏👏👏👏👏
I think Person to Person, Cloudy, and Cut the Cake from their live Person to Person album are the best versions of these songs!
THE SOONER YOU GIVE THE BETTER YOU GET TO HAVE A LOVE OF YOUR OWN!!!
Music today does not begin to compare to the smoothness and lyrics of the older music.
What music today. There is none
One of my favorites 👍🏾
To me the Saxophone is the sexiest musical instrument ever of all the instruments. It brings deep love and soulful love to the forefront!
Yesssss, AWB had it going on back in the day!😍🤩😊
Brings back so many memories.
Yeah, AWB awesome band, use to rock these boys in the mid 70’s and still do. Awesome reaction as always.❤❤
ALL of their songs are straight 🔥
Love this generation reacting to great music and keeping it alive
Love your reaction.
PEOPLE THAT GREW UP AND LIVED THIS MUSIC, THANK YOU.
Wish you had reacted to the live performance, pure fire!!
Good music never ages ..loved this reaction
One of the greatest love songs ever!
Yes indeed Ashley, this is a classic Slow Jam! 😎
Scotland has the funk!

You Miss have the prettiest smile, it lights up a room.
New subscriber.
And AWB kicks it.
this truly one my favorites songs from the average white band been a fan a long.
Them boys know how to jam
🔥🔥Great Song. Smooth Intro..The Music Is Beautifully Hypnotic. Great Reaction👍🏾💯👍🏾
Between the Average White Band and Heatwave there was no shortage of blue eyed soul when I was younger. Nice seeing you enjoy the music I grew up with.
Umm...huh?! There's only one white member of Heatwave. The rest of them don't count?!? 😂
Actually 2 members wete white. The drummer and Rod Temperton, who wrote a lot of Michael Jackson's songs.@bryce253
The funkiest band the country of Scotland ever produced.
70's had great music for real
The best house party song back in the day!! Made me lots of money in my basement with black light and AWB!!! Ashley pick that sax back up !!!

I seen AWB in Hollywood back in the day. Guess star was Marvin Gaye, The band was jamming with soulful songs. Soul has no color.👍👍
AWB .... cats out of Scotland in the UK singing this here R&B/Soul/funk-soaked slow joint like they were born and bred in it from get and then own it!
This is song has always just MELTED me from the first note, and it always will. I used to go to see AWB and Tower of Power every year. I am SO grateful to have grown up in the best musical era there will EVER be. ✨️😊💛
You need to listen to 'Pick Up The Pieces', it's their best known song, and it will definitely make you want to pick up that sax.
I’m learning to play the guitar. I have so much respect for great guitar players like Ernie Isley and BB King. What they do with a guitar is from another world.
One of my favorite thanks Ashley
I heard this song a million times, but never knew who sang it lol
This was great but an even better version was done by AWB Live at Montreux 1977. It's on RUclips. Also their Work To Do from the same concert. Another great one is Love Is Here To Stay Thomas Dybdahl (Live from NRK Studio 1).
I can listen to this all day they had so much soul you don't hear in the days garbage they play on the radio
it gets better they were formed in Scotland!
Great music during the 70s...if you ever have a chance, listen to "Rien Ne Va Plus" by Funk Factory
Hamish Stewart is a member of The Average White Band. His version of "Work To Do" is every bit as soulful as "A Love Of Your Own", Ashley.
Keep up the good work. There is nothing average about this band.
That falsetto of Hamish, with Alan Gorrie's blend in the background is ridiculous ❤
I was stationed in Aviano Italy when this jam dropped. The dance floor of the NCO club got crowded pretty quickly after the first note sounded.
Immediate stank face says it All!!.. 😂!!..
This is 1 of my favorites 🔥🔥🔥🎶

I saw them in concert at 18. The joke was that they were not average 😂.
One of my all-time favorite groups. Scottish funk and soul at its finest! Next, drop some nasty funk with School Boy Crush. Album versions of AWB are recommended for production value. Pick Up the Pieces and Cut The Cake were big hits for this band.
AWB STR8 🔥🔥🔥
This is good music!!
High school jam, we got down on this, AWB made their mark in the musical-powered 70s!!!
Yes, Ma'am! Yes, Sir! Baaaaaybeee! A time was had! Great reaction! #WhatUpDoe
Love your reactions, ma'am.
This is my favorite 🎵 🎶 by AWB; they did this one!
This hits so hard maaaaan, speechless ❤❤❤
Make no mistake the UK has some seriously talented Reggae and R&B artists
this was a classic, but there are 3 others that i feel trumps this one, CLOUDY, THE QUEEN OF MY SOUL, & IF I EVER LOSE THIS HEAVEN
AWF is what we used to call Blue Eyed Soul. They were far above average.
We used to have basement parties and we used to play this music. this is during the 70s going into the 80s. This is where you could have fun meet your girl I’ll get stabbed or shot it when parties were having fun enjoying your youth.

They have a song call “Cloudy” you should listen to the live version.
This definitely in my playlist
Classic blue eyed soul 💙
The black guy is the drummer Russell Feronte

Damn. She done unlocked AWB! 😂 This song is legendary.
Check out Cloudy by them also...and the brother is not the lead singer...FYI
There is a live video of this song also.
You have to react to them singing this song live you will thank me later
Singers like these guys prove something: race doesn't matter. Either you can sing from your soul or you can't.
You really need to go down AWB rabbit hole! School Boy Crush, Cloudy, Pick up the pieces, etc. Instruments and very Soulful!
I remember when that song first came out, I thought it was Philip Bailey from Earth Wind & Fire.
They were so good we changed their name twice The ABOVE AVERAGE WHITE BAND and the hits kept coming then we decided
THE WAY ABOVE AVERAGE WHITE BAND
Off the 'Soul Searching' album. Not a bad cut on it. Saw them live a few times back in the day. Lead singer, Hamish Stuart, performs in a kilt.
Come on now AWB this is the song one of my FAV there is no match from the music that was produce back then till now S-TIER
Their live album "Person To Person" is one of the BEST ever made. Check for "Cloudy" & "If I Ever Lose This Heaven" on it. Thank me later 😆
Just one of my all time favs
Not bad for a bunch of white guys. lol. If I knew a sax could move a beautiful woman like this in such a way, I would have made it my life’s task to be the best sax player in the world.🤪
I love when you abruptly and say, "Y'all Stop Playing." LOL.
AWB.....classic joint
AWB!!!! was some BAD funky white boys from Scotland!
Pick up the pieces live version should be next
Miss Lady, you have to react to Howard Hewitts version,..then talk too me.....O-H!!
School Boy Crush is still played at the picnics 😊
Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Those haggis eaters can jam. I stole this line but it's the funniest thing ever. Haha AwB don't play, they serious.
You should check out their tune called Pick Up The Pieces. You will like it being a former sax player.
Gotta check out 'School Boy Crush' by AWB! The were great back in the day.......
