Hey devil, I noticed you were worried about getting into a vortex ring state. Do you know the Vuichard recovery technique? If you didn't, simultaneously raise collective, left pedal and right cyclic. It allows you to "side step" into the updraft of the vortex, allowing you to recover with only 50-100 feet of altitude loss. Give it a shot!
I've been watching videos on that technique, it's simply amazing, unfortunately VRS is worst thing to happen while in a hover at low altitude. And that's when it happens most.
@@jmdesertadventures803 I agree, however, doing a traditional vrs recovery at low altitude like that will likely put you in the ground. which is why only losing 50 or so feet doing a Vuichard is the best way to survive.

or just stay out of it by maintaining airspeed above ETL to stay out of vrs when in steep descents
Not sure if the real world technique works on DCS, but lower collective and cyclic forward will get you out of a vortex ring / settling with power. Never heard of the Vuichard recovery.
Flying the Huey is so fun in DCS. If I had people to play with id consider actually buying it instead of just using the free trial.
I fly the huey with my buddy who flies them irl, I just need to fix my joystick and I'll be flying again, the hueys amazing, however, the Mi8 is also amazing for Trans roles, the mi24 hind is also perfect for CSAR
i fly the gazzele and ka50 both are super good
Enigma's Cold War has a pretty dedicated assortment of Hind, Hip, and Huey pilots, some are more organized, but there's almost always someone on flying a chopper to do troop drops or to attack ground targets.
Honestly, it's kind of crazy how fun the server is for Chopper PVP despite it originally just being a small addition.

Hey man, CSAR gets somewhat easier if you set your FM radio to frequency 31.05 and twist the knob there all the way to the right, to "Home". The FM panel is just below the Engine Control Panel with the fuel switch (yellow with a red top, kinda like a match). When you do that, your CDI (just below the radio compass, near the pedals) guides your azimuth to the closest friendly downed pilot for CSAR. Then when you see the flares, just fly to them. I think it doesn't guide to enemy pilots, though.

Hey DD loved the video! As a helicopter pilot… you can’t get into VRS if you keep flying faster then transition speed so over 30knots and you’ll be good. Also you can only get VRS with power on so if you reduce power, keep the speed up and do a quick stop before adding power you can make a much more expedient approach to the LZ 🫡
You are the only thing motivating me to play DCS multiplayer for once.

The shaking is because the Huey is over speeding. Its top speed is not very good and it’s pretty easy to go over it.
@@Hangry_Hungarian irl. We sit very comfortably at our top speed at around 120kts, it’s when we get slow that we start to shake, once we pass through around 65/60kts we go through a shutter and then once we get through 50kts it goes away. This is because we have the rotors tuned to be more efficient at the higher speeds because that’s what we’re flying at, we don’t need it to be super efficient at that mid range speed because we’re not actually flying that. So DCS kinda does the opposite of what happens IRL.

Track IR is king.. I'm not sure any eye tracking software is usable, though.

I’ve been playing on enigmas for a while. I love flying the Huey but I still don’t know how to use the compass, so I suck at trying to find search and rescue
It works sometimes and other times it doesnt lock to the closest downed pilot

Yes, and it's on a custom server. You'll want a really good PC, decent HOTAS, and TrackIR to really enjoy it
Can u hunt planes in a helicopter, I've been watching a lot of dogfights between helis and planes and the helicopter almost always has a huge advantages, but I haven't seen any helicopter vs plane bvr
Man I would love to play on this server, although not a huge fan of any of the cold war planes aside from the F4
The phantom will be on the server when it is added to DCS. It may be sometime this year it is added, I think
The huey is my least favorite module in this game. I just don't understand it.
