Memory (from observation), Imagination (drawing from fresh imagination + memory of what the subject would look like in actual). The emotions - you draw that from imagination as well, there's a feeling that comes with the painting, you are not just painting the visuals, but painting the emotion as well, and I mean carrying the "feel" throughout the process. Just my guess. This guy's probably a chameleon, in that he probably also likes acting, heavy on introjection. When they draw from imagination, they don't only draw what they see, they draw what the story they see altogether. Hard to explain, it's like carrying a whole theatre art in your head and putting in on paper. The ability to project what you've introjected, for me, is something that makes an artist, an artist. When you sing, what makes the performances great is fully embodying the character talked about in the song and living in that moment, putting in that shoe, until the performance is done. I guess that's what's happening here, too. You are just bringing the theatre arts of your mind into paper. There are personality types who are adept at this, because they're multifaceted, it's easy to mix these artforms into paper. But then, I guess, that's just my guess. quicc tip for beginner artists like you: Never mind the color, grayscale is okay because you can still use hues on photoshop, and backgrounds are just splotches of stroke paint that your brain will process as "buildings" and stuff.
portraits like these, tend to take about 3-4+ hours to make. If the artist is experienced it a portrait such as this one could even take 2 hours or less.

+Piotr Krauze OK! I'll do it next time!
+WL OP thanks =^w^=
2:42 "add some details"
*proceeds to make a masterpiece in a few seconds*
...wut ;-;
....You know theres like.....6 minutes of video after that, right?
These works are the most beautiful I've ever seen in my entire life
You forgot to talk about layers without a lottt of layers you'd be screwed
This is the best art tutorial I've watched and learned from. Simple, but so damn informative. Thank you.. 💕
the way he paints he is seeing everything in terms of values, color and light. its a different way to paint than like with anime for example where its lineart, block color, etc.
Very impressive and inspirational!
He paints the same way the old masters paints. particularily more expressionistic ones.
Wlop is just god messing around with tutorials of new beings on earth.
Beautiful tunes for a beautiful image. What is this song?
seconded
Seconded is the title?
エーパゼラーアシュリー the gift of light
Years ago I wasn't understanding 90% of the whole tutorial.
Now I understand everything O.o Time to make some study!
Bruh, this makes me feel like a Puddle and this guy is an Ocean
thanks for the vid! Can't wait to try out the techniques :D
It would be nice if you can make text tutorials on drawing landscapes and skies too :D
+Sara Fung I'll do a landscapes tutorial next time!

+WL OP YESSSSSSSSSS
It’s been five years and only now does RUclips decide to show me such an amazing artist and tutorial-
The Gift of Light by Steve Booke is the title of the song, in case anyone wonders.

OMG.. I saw this drawing on a video before and I was thinking how beautiful it was...
Now I'm seeing how you did it!
I never thought that there will be a tutorial about this certain drawing..
This is amazing.. Such a small world🙂♥️
こういう絵柄好き
now I can cry in my corner.
Alot of people are saying this didnt help me at all and stuff, but it helped me I got some simular outlooks of what your drawings would look like painting wise.
quicc tip for beginner artists like you: Never mind the color, grayscale is okay because you can still use hues on photoshop, and backgrounds are just splotches of stroke paint that your brain will process as "buildings" and stuff.
I know this is sped up, but how long did this actually take?
i want to know too
portraits like these, tend to take about 3-4+ hours to make. If the artist is experienced it a portrait such as this one could even take 2 hours or less.
If you look at the clock in the upper right corner you can see they started at 4pm and finished at 4:43, so, Fourty three minutes ^_^ pretty dang impressive, aha
FOURTY MINUTES?! FOURTY FREAKING MINUTES?! DANG!
Lol actually no, they started at 1:00 and ended at 4:43. It's impossible if it's done in 43 minutes :0
I smiles while watch this painting Tutorial. There are very gifted artists out there who cares to share.
Thank you. Stay Safe.
I actually met someone on this level and he's an engineer and drawing is his hobby
I want to support you on patreon. I’m curious about if there will be subtitles of description on the full, normal speed painting, because I find them extremely helpful. Thank you for so many wonderful works.
凄い……サムネの絵に圧倒されて見てみたけどすごく綺麗
思わず声出た とても素敵な絵です💖💖💖💖👍🏻
This is photoshopped
its a joke
wooooshh....
GhostDave ever have ur mom tell u "have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all?"
GodsGunMan Vox

GhostDave xD
can you talk about how you sketch the beginning image? More specifically, the hair of the girl. How do you come up with these characters?
I DIDNT KNOW YOU HAVE A RUclips CHANNEL?! this is the best day of my life, thank you so much, especially for the environment tip! i tend to always forget about connecting the environment in my artwork, again huge fan, thank you!
