I was born and raised in indiana. Nothing is more beautiful than the beautiful water ways we have here and the amazing population of game fish. We have to protect what we have. I love what you guys did with this video

I love the White River. I’m not much of a fisherman, but love to kayak and camp. I’m proud to live in a community that takes pride in our rivers. (Noblesville, Indiana). Thank you to those that put this video together. Great job!

From the bottom of my heart… Thank you. I’ve fished the White my whole life (44yo) here in Indy, from Strawtown to Martinsville. And always in Indy. Thank you, thank you so much to the people who built her back up! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I moved to Indianapolis in 2002, and the effect these kind souls had on the White has been astonishing. True unsung heroes. We thank you.

So what happened to it by the time I moved there in 2007, because it was disgusting?
The whole damn river smelled like rancid sewage.

Fascinating, thanks for this great piece of history. I am a fly fisherman from Indianapolis who moved here in 2002, I still don't really trust the water. I was warned to stay away from the White River.

Great video. Very informative. I am excited to get to fish the white river this year for the first time in the GRBY kayak bass fishing tournament. Glad to find your channel.

I was only 7 when that happened but it hurt.. I made me cry as little boy and it still does but now for joy not sadness. That my kids will grow up floating with thier grandparents and fishing with me. Just straight joy.

What a great video and inspiring point of view. I am a Anderson resident. I would love to raise more awareness towards this local treasure. I fish it constantly. The largest Smallie caught that i have witnessed is a 6. Very rare to get a 6pounder here. My PB is a 3.8 lbs. I have caught plenty of 2's. The Rock Bass are very aggressive here. Last year during 2020 summer I caught several 13-14 inch Rock Bass. Some weighed over 1.5 pounds. It is definitely healthier than what it used to be. Even Killbuck Creek produces quality fish. Thank you guys for producing this video. Great share!!

Had a spectacular day fishing with Jason two years ago. I grew up on the river north of Noblesville. My friend Kevin Hardie with Friends of White River was instrumental in getting the settlement with Guide, then wisely using the funds.

Love fishing the river from Muncies east side all the way thru Hamilton Co. Smallmouths make it a great fishery.

Love this story, reminds me of the Great Miami I grew up on. When I was young it was nothing but a sewer, now you can catch smallmouth. It’s amazing if you just leave it alone and not abuse it nature will heal itself.

I attempted to fish my favorite not so secret yet profound flathead spot . You all know which one the hole above GM dam below the train tracks. The homeless problem is so bad that the next time we get a real increase in water . There are tons of trash that will be instantly washed down stream . Indianapolis is failing all of us .

Where the eel and white river come together near Worthington is where fishing can turn from a hobby to an obsession.

I recall fishing the white river before the fish kill ! Down on Raymond st. Fishing for carp catching hundreds of carp many over 30-40 pounds ! I recall old men who used to flathead fish above the dams who swore they were chasing elusive 70-80 pound flatheads ! Me personally I hooked into something one night above GM dam that ripped off 300 yards of live swimming upstream in the matter of 30 seconds ! Shattered a 10 foot surf rod trying to hang on the last few yards of power pro . My point I guess is rumor has it ocean going birds came to Indiana to feast on the remains !

Damn! Quite the fishy story. Well let's hope now that the river is in better shape that someone can hook into their own river monster :)

As a kid in the 70s and 80s if you said you were going fishing on the White River everyone would laugh and ask if you were fishing for brown trout meaning turds because it was so polluted, everyone knew that the Anderson and Muncie waste plants were dumping loads of waste in the river, not to mention Guide and Delco Remey dumping God only knows what in it.

I lived in Indianapolis from about 2007 until 2015 and the whole time I lived there you couldn't get close to the White River because it smelled like ransid sewage.
You couldn't have paid me to fish that river, especially when the Big Blue River was just an hour away.
Oh and that last comment about the best smallmouth stream in the country, it's not even the best smallmouth stream in indiana, the St Joseph river is packed full of smallmouth.

Hate less, help more. It's that exact attitude that leads to inaction.

    • @deejayimm
      @deejayimm 2 года назад

@@soflyfishingpodcast Why is pointing out a fact hate?
There is nothing I could do about the sewage problem, that's why they're spending all that money digging the giant pit a couple of hundred feet in the ground to prevent the rain water from washing the sewage into the river.
It's a well know project to solve a well known problem.
Pointing it out is only pointing out the obvious.
When you are bothered by someone pointing out the obvious, you need to reassess your mental state.
