I am working on a follow up video to this one. When I recorded this video I was not aware of any 120Hz option in the game. Enabling 120Hz on the PS5 or Xbox changes everything and FG is pretty good! Follow Up Video : ruclips.net/video/LXtlIxYBCEQ/видео.htmlsi=UrpGCZ_W99Ax1Df9
Enabled 120Hz and VRR + Frame Generation to have a good experience.
Why didn't you turn off vsync to unlock the framerate? I was getting 100-120 fps on my ps5.
Yes FG limited to 60fps use around 30fps input. FG is for 120fps target
@@magemasher13do you mean to turn vsync off on a system level or just through thr game?
Your video didnt even mention that input lag is barely noticeable when using FG on 120hz screen with VRR and it felt way smoother than FG on 60hz. Dont you have a 120hz TV? It's like you're trying to discredit the devs by missing out that point. You just say that FG is bad and people should not use it. Geez what a douchebag! 🥴
@@jjsavior turn vsync off in game. It plays way better
Disappointing to see that you made a video shitting on an actually revolutionary FSR FG implementation on console without taking into account that FG only works as intended on 60+ Hz displays when the game can render at minimum 50 FPS on a TV/monitor that can push more than 60Hz. Because of ill thought opinions like this people still don’t understand FG and its mechanisms while simultaneously discrediting it as a valuable option in new games. Hopefully you’ll fix this because your videos are always of the highest quality but this is just wrong.
In all fairness, he seems to only play on tv's capable of 120hz.
@@jjsaviorthat’s not the point
You are right. When I made the video I was not aware of any 120Hz option in the game. I am working on a follow up video!
On the latest Digital Foundry direct, they were impressed with the results that it simulated HFR.
DF was testing Ghost Of Tsushima on PC for that matter, not Immortals of Aveum on PS5.
@@johnny_rook are you a Patreon of DF? The latest direct they go in depth on Immortals frame gen.
@@HelveticaBold1 Can you please, number the direct you're talking about. The last I remember they talked about Aveum FSR 3 & FG was a month ago (#158), but, they where more questioning than impressed...
@@johnny_rook 164, again it’s only available to Patreons but might be up tomorrow.
@@johnny_rookI thought I replied to this but it’s 164 DF Direct
Frame generation is a blessing for 120hz VRR gaming on consoles! The input lag is barely noticeable with smooth framerate usually around 70-100fps! I tried setting my PS5 to only output 60hz and enabled frame generation and there's a significant input lag.
In my opinion frame generator in this game works good only in 120 hz mode with vrr. The imput lag is almost unnoticeable and the frame rate is doubled.
Yea its still bad for 60hz non-VRR screens. But on 120hz VRR screens unlocked fps+FG looks/feels very smooth.
With 120hz and Vrr the game runs with fsr3 80 fps -120 fps that is much better
Before fsr3 update 60fps was bad most of the time 40-50 now with fsr3 and 120hz you can play the game in 80-120 fps that is a big difference
Agreed. I think the game is fantastic with frame gen on as long as you have 120hz mode with VRR. It feels super smooth with no noticeable input lag increase (I'm sure there is an increase but I just don't notice it). It seems like frame generation is only worth it with the right TV/monitor.
I'll be honest gives me hope for future titles on current gen now runs silky smooth and it's only going to get better let's hope more games can Implent this it's huge
But what about the artifacting he mentions.
@@jjsavior I'm on an LG oled cx so that's 120 vrr I personally barely see any now after update
I tested it on xbox series x on my S90c with vrr and I thought frame gen was really great. I was getting 90-120fps instead of 60. The artifacts and input lag were not really noticeable for me.
would love to see xbox analysis. im seeing many say they are happy with the update
Do you have vsync turned off or on?
Are you suggesting using VRR with the frame generation or without the frame generation? I was always dubious about adding fsr3 to the game becuase there have been bad reports about fsr3 on pc. What really anoys me is the game played fine when it was first released, i think it was originally 1440p, but the game played excellently at its original lower resolution. If you go back and look at youtube videos of the game, the framerate runs very smoothly in comparison to after the game was updated originally. I have no clue why they didnt just include two performance/ visual options of the game. One where it performed at its original lower resolution. And a quality mode that performs with the resolution update the game originally received. Having those two options would have solved the framerate issues with the game and fsr3 wouldnt have been necessary.
Look at the character models and the main protagonist what were they thinking?
Any news if Robocop Rogue City is going to have FG?
Menu says one thing but in game it does nothing....
This game REALLY needs FG for performance mode
I was impressed with the HDR implementation on PC just a single toggle so thank goodness they got it right!
HDR is really good in this game!
What about input lag?
It's definitely awesome on my C1 OLED with VRR and 120hz. I'd assume this tech isn't made for a 60hz TV
I got this game on series x for $8 awhile back and have been waiting for this update im going to try this out even if it doesn't look better atleast it won't stutter now
how you turn on frame generation?
Game seems to stutter when loading in new enemies. Does it do this for anyone else?
Does the games frame rate drop big time in the war room for anyone else? Even with Frame Gen on With a 120hz VRR compatible screen.
the fsr can not be toggle on or off in settings only frame generation & v-sync
You need 120Hz VRR enabled. On Xbox Series X the Games run mouch smoother with Frame Gen. Only thing is a visuell bug in the options.
What if I have 144hz monitor 1080p with no vrr
FSR 3 and FSR 2.2 have no difference in upscalling improvements. That will change with FSR 3.1 though.
Any other games that use FSR 2.2? Immortals is the only console game I know of.
@@redfirefox3568 Immortals uses FSR 3 because of Frame Generation, but image quality is the same as FSR 2.2.
@@MaKTaiL Yes I know. I was just asking if there are other games that use FSR 2.2 besides Immortals of Aveum. Other games use FSR 2.0 or 2.1
@@redfirefox3568 I think maybe Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. On PC it uses FSR 3 but on consoles it might be FSR 2.2.
@@MaKTaiL Avatar uses FSR 2.0 and Cyberpunk uses FSR 2.1 on consoles. Its all good though.
Hoping to see insomniac games utilize this feature on 40fos mode and push it to higher fps!.
Probably better for games like Spider Man 2 where you could go native 4k with frame gen on and get 60 instead of 30 fps
Does the new update also add new visual improvements?
Not really or I can't see them
It adds HDR to the PC version
The reason for FG is not smooth is because they locked it to 60fps, to avoid stutter FG must not be locked to any frame. They should unlock the frames as FG should give 100-110fps.
It’s 90-120fps on my PS5 + G4
Not sure why it’s locked 60 on his screen
Same thing with Nvidia really, DLSS3 isn't FG its just version 3 of DLSS, I've heard with FSR3.1 your able to upgrade the FSR files like you can with DLSS too, unfortunately we can't update the older versions our self
I think the game runs worst than previously and you have to keep vsync and frame gen on to be kind of smooth on xbox well that's my experience I only download this from gamepass last week maybe I need to switch to 120hz as some people say
Frame Gen is designed for a VRR 120 hz screen only. It will work without one but not very well on console.
It runs great on series X with just a few bits of slowdown .
Frame generation is designed for games with minimum 60 fps framerate not a maximum. In Other words it was designed to work at 120 fps on the console. As long as you have VRR on series x at least it averages around 118 to 120 fps and is very smooth overall.
This update is not the very latest FSR that I think you were thinking of though that improves image quality that they showed examples of that dramatically reduces fizzle and blur.
That is still being tested . This version just introduces Frame Gen.
Not knocking the PS5 as I have one as well as Series X but I think this game ran marginally better on series X to begin with.
Loving the game now and you are right it is hard to put down. I have along way to go but I just became an immortal and some of the scenes leading up to this are staggering though I have also had two hard crashes to Xbox dash and one complete freeze to be truthful.
The “minimum 60fps” thing has been debunked. It works perfectly at 45fps and higher. It’s only under 45 where you start seeing issues.
This has been proven in every game that supports FG
FSR3 is the solution to keep PS5 and the upcoming PS5 PRO for many years until maybe 2030 wheb maybe PS6 is out. They just need to fix stutter and reduce input lag a little bit. Wonder if Sony's own FSR or DLSS tech will be added soon
FSR3 can’t do any wonders. For frame generation you need a mostly stable 60 fps.
The imagination that FSR3 can now magically boost any game to a upscaled 4K image with fluid 60 fps or even more is simply not the reality.
@@MisterReen Yes I know. I am talking about games that can do 60fps or higher. So on some PS5 games only, but not all, maybe this will be easier on the more demanding games later when PS5 Pro comes
Robocop supports FSR 3 frame generation too
On console? Was HDR support added as well?
@@HelveticaBold1It doesn’t, he’s wrong
No it doesn't it was an option left over from the PC build and does not function.
It's working great with a 120Hz, VRR, ALLM, and HDM 2.1 capable TV, if your telly hasn't got those features, I'm afraid that you are going to suffer. I've got a 65" Hisense U8G and this game performs great, I recommend to turn off the V-Synch setting in-game
Did you test with both variants of vsync?
A lot of stutter during gameplay. Looks bad.
Leider nein. Beide Konsolen kaufen hier sehr ähnlich.
Shame generation.
🤦🏾♂️
The frame gen lag is really bad.
I spotted, aside from being a BioShock rip off, that there was a color downgrade when running at 60Fps. I’m never buying this game.👎🏻
This game is nothing like BioShock
Garbage update: firstly, image quality is still garbage, shimmering, noise, etc.; frame gen is unusable as it's always somewhat stuttery with horrible artefacts, especially when panning the camera fast; if you enable FG at 60 Hz, VRR doesn't work correctly with vsync enabled; if you disable vsync and play in 120 Hz mode, the game screen tears when FPS hits 120 looking at the sky or floor for example; and all modes with frame gen feel stuttery even when VRR is working correctly.
OP completely missed the point using 60hz mode instead of uncapped 120 where latency is actually decent using FG.
Edit: just to add I tested on a PS5 Slim using a Samsung QN88C.
It runs butter smooth on the xbox.
I've also experienced frame drops and stutter with FG on and V-Sync off, it's like Vrr doesn't work properly...
@@claudiovic88 On PS5 or Xbox? Im on Xbox and I have to turn on vsync and FG and enable 120hz to get smooth gameplay
Why you waste your time on console garbage , while you have RTX 4080?
Because the majority of his viewers only play on console.
Pathetic quality
I uninstalled this game when your character refers to the woman training you as sir. The game is extremely blurry on Xbox.
I was very confused about that...
It should be ma'am not sir.
Is the character trans? It would make sense. Never heard of this game, might have to check it.
Who cares? I dont...but the game was very blurry with the update they made after it was launched. That is what pissed me off because the game ran so much smoother before they updated the resolution originally.
If this makes you uninstall a game, you got some issue's bro. If you had said because the writing was cringe and terrible in general, that would make more sense. Shame really because the combat can actually be quite fun.
