Over a year ago now, I purchased this lot of Bratz dolls off ebay and when they came in they smelled horribly of nicotine. I was cleaning and soaking and trying a bunch of different things to get the smell out. Things were helping but they still smelled so bad. So they sat in a box of cat litter and borax to see what that would do until i figured something else out. After watching your videos, I finally tried Oxiclean and soaked them all this week and IT WORKED! They do not smell anymore! Thank you so much! I have been working on them for over a year now and so happy I can finally add them to my collection without the smell!
That's such great news!!!!!! This is the first time I use oxiclean for the smell (you discovered it first :)) and I honestly forgot that it used to smell so bad. Only when I was editing the video I remembered it came in that little bag and opening it was... a surprise. I'm so glad this worked for your toys :) :)
Yes, I got it in a bag with other ponies but I paid about 7 dollars each so it was a lucky find! The smell, though... OH THE SMELL. But it's all better now :D
Your videos always make my inner child so happy. Like, the part of my inner child who believes whole heartedly that Toy Story is real and that toys have a life all their own. Seeing you give them new life like this, it's incredible and the results never disappoint! She looks great with the curls, but she rocked that mohawk :p Also, when you're sweet little visitor came by, I most definitely lost of mind. Such a cute little nose!!!!
Reading this makes me so happy ☺️🥰 thank you so much for your message. I also like to think they have some sort of life, these toys. Maybe all things we love have a little bit of us. I was very happy when Boo (the real life cat) visited :) she's usually curious about what I'm doing but doesn't usually Juno on the table. She detected another 🐱
"No toy left behind" -- what a great motto! The transformation here is amazing. There's something almost theraputic about watching the restoration process; every toy deserves love. :) Just wanted to say your videos have really inspired me; I've been working on restoring several g1 MLP toys using your tips. Some were in pretty awful shape but after a ton of scrubbing, acetone and mane/tail work (for a few of them) they're looking a lot better! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you 😊 I'm really glad you enjoy the videos. Wow! That's amazing that you have been restoring your toys!! I'd love to see them, please feel free to share them with me via Instagram/FB!
This is how I personally restore dolls hair when I don’t end up rerooting it: first I rinse it out with dish soap, then I use shampoo and brush through it and I may do this part twice depending on the hair condition, then I go with conditioner and do the same thing I did with the shampoo and again I may do this step more than once, then I use hot water and mix fabric softener with it. If need be, I may also straighten the hair after wards or curl it. The hair always turns out super soft and silky smooth! If this helped anyone please let me know!
That sounds like a very thorough and effective process!! I normally used cheap shampoo and conditioner, but people in the comments suggested fabric softener and I think it worked better! Next time I will try your steps :) Thank you for you comment! 🥰
I loved Lady Lovely Locks as a kid! I had 2 of the VHS tapes and the doll with the pixie tails! They go for crazy money on ebay now especially if boxed! They all seem to be in US though. I don't see many other people from the UK who remember them so this was lovely 💗
I'm really glad you enjoyed it 😊 I had so much footage of the hair but I didn't know at what point it would become boring xD I'm happy you think it wasn't to much!
yoo! i suscribed a few days ago, im glad you uploaded ^^! keep up the good work, your videos are very entertaining and satisfying :] (plus i have a few G1 ponies so i feel "at home" hehe)
Thank you so much for subscribing and for your message! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) and that you gave some G1s!! (the best generation cough cough :P)
Thank you Alyson! 😊😊 She's called Boo, she's really big and super cuddly. she cries for attention all day, especially since I've been working from home and at her disposal :P
the smell makes me a bit sad wondering what kind of environment the child that toy belonged to must have grown up in for it to smell so strongly of cigarettes. you did a wonderful job restoring this toy she looks great!
what an adorable little Fakie! she thicc tho, look at that bum XD she reminds me of a group of very wacky-looking lions I found earlier while cleaning out my old toybox, no shoulders and raised bums... they're definitely not Hasbro fakies though, I think they were produced as cheap supermarket action collectables for a soccer championship. my country always has silly things whenever there's a soccer championship going on. this year it was stickers and temporary tattoos of soccer party themed emojis and that's the least ridiculous one I can remember.
Hahaha this comment made me chuckle. I understand about the weird football themed toys, I'm from Argentina ;) Some fakirs can be really good, look for example at the Takara ponies, they go for like 50 dollars each O.O (no idea how much they cost when they came out but my guess is 5% of that!)
I have a closed UV box (in the older videos it's just a cardboard one, but now I use a trash bin with a lid!) but thank you so much for the warning! 😊😊
Hi! I just found your channel and I love it! You inspired me to dig my mom’s g1 ponies and my own g3 ponies out of storage. Overall they are all in magnificent condition… except my dog had chewed a few up years ago. Two have missing ears and one has severe hoof damage. What should I do?
That's great to hear!! I'm so glad you found your collection and hers ☺️ If you check the last two pony videos you can see how I repair that type of damage using milliput. The green pony actually had a chewed eat too! Hope it helps :)
I really love your videos! ❤️ Thank you for inspiring me Ps: i have a question 🦋 before the peroxide treatment sometimes you cover with tempera eyes and decoration and sometimes did you not cover them, why? I can't see the differences 🌺
Thank you so much for your message 🥰 I cover the eyes and symbols for the foreign-made ponies or the ones where the paint has had some damage. Argentinian paint, for example, is known to be quite bad and can fade when exposed to peroxide and UV light. I also cover the symbols of the ponies I do for others, because I'm terrified I will damage them so I'm extra extra careful 😆 But most toys won't need it. Hong ponies don't, in general.
A question regarding defrizzing the hair on a plush pony of mine: Is the curling iron required? Or can I just comb through the hair with some fabric softener?
You can definitely use softener and hot water. I think you need some temperature if you want to straighten the curly bits but you can get great results with just the comb and a lot of patience 😊
I mostly buy toys off eBay, but they are difficult to find because most people throw them away when they get to this condition. Car boot sales are a better option!
I am planning to re root all my childhood MLP G1's so I can pass them on to my daughter when she's old enough. Can anyone recommend a glue that will last bath times and brushing? Remembering how we used to play makes me wonder if this re rooting will last - most glues used in videos are more for display purposes. I'd rather pass down some frizzy hair than a beautiful mane with premature baldness!
Thank you soooooo much!!! And thank you for the magical content. These videos are a nostalgic balm as well as educational and relaxing. Much appreciated
always use wet hair! you can put conditioner on top but it’s not compulsory. and always use the straighteners on the very lowest setting possible and don’t spend too long on one area or it will burn :)
I do it this way so I don't pull the hair too much. If you start from the root you need to pull harder, and sometimes the hair plugs on the old toys are weak because the glue has broken down or the hair thinned. Hope it helps! :)
If I may ask, do you live in the United States? And if you do, do you think you could restore my rainbow curl pony? She needs her hair re-curled. The one I have is Ringlet.
I live in the UK, but I'm not taking commissions at the moment, sorry. There are some good curling tips on here, I use perm rolls and hot water. You should give it a try!
I have 29 Ponies I bought at eBay and they smell like a cross between food smell and sigerette smoke and I never got the smells out of them I may use the oxiclean on them to make them like new.
🙀 Ouch! Oxiclean works really well! But it can damage glitter symbols, so I would keep those away from the mix. 29 ponies is an awesome haul!! Best of luck in your restorations :)
Oh, I'm sorry it didn't work. Magic eraser is a little abrasive, it's like very thin sandpaper. It can get rid of some marks that are on the plastic because it removes material... but it doens't remove all spots. Did you try acetone?

Hi
Oxyclean is the stuff of legends.
For some really hard smells I've used a small ozone generator. Just seal it in the box with the offensive smelling object and let it run
I love the “No Toy Left Behind!” I’ve looked at the name brand lovely locks and they are pricey on eBay!! They should bring them back!
Yes, I got it in a bag with other ponies but I paid about 7 dollars each so it was a lucky find! The smell, though... OH THE SMELL. But it's all better now :D
You made her mane and tail look gorgeous!! Even if she's a fakie, she's super beautiful now 💛
Thank you so much 😀

Ohh nice!! 😊😊 I don't think I've ever seen a boxed one, I need to do a search cause I'm really curious now!
aww I love that all toys get the same treatment regardless if there legit toys or fakes
No toy left behind ☺️☺️
Love your "playing" with the toys, they are truly cherished by your caring hands
Thank you 😊😊
“We leave no toy behind! :)” Girl are you wanting me to cry?? This channel is too wholesome 😭

Yay, thank you! A bit of a different one 😊
It almost feels like you are bringing the toys back to life.

She looks glamorous now, what lovely curls!
I'm glad you like them 🥰
No toy left behind! And the styling looks great :)
Thank you so much 🥰😊
I love how you did the hair it looks perfect on her 👌
Wow, thank you so much! I've seen some people do straight hair on boths sides, but it felt a little strange so I went for a "pony style" :)
Thank you so much for restoring this precious toy !
I'm very glad you enjoy it! 😊😊
Great job. I am also kind a crazy for Lady Lovely Locks dolls, so your hair tips come in really handy. Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad it can help!! 😊 Thank you so much for your message.
What a stylish mother she is! Great job!
Thank you so much!! :) :)
beautiful as always! your restorations always really inspire and entertain me :)

I love seeing the cleaned hair get styled. The cleaning and touch ups are cool too, but the hair is my favorite part!

Hahaha yay and... sorry :P I hop[e it was a good dream! 😊

You did a lovely job with her! What’s your cat’s name? (The real one not the toy lol)

Amo la paciencia que tenes para restaurar cada juguete!!
Muchas gracias ☺️😊
I honestly only found out about Lady Lovely Locks last year… didn’t even know it had toys… 🤔
Fantastic job, though!!!

@@RetroGeekCrafts AWW, I'm always excited to visit your channel 💞💖❤️💕
In a lot of ponies I got, I found a baby fake of this toy! LOL
Oh wow! That's a coincidence! I think they are quite rare (the fakies). She's pretty, isn't she?
@@RetroGeekCrafts Super cute!!
Ngl, I'm considering toy restoration as a hobby now. I could probably clean and repaint bootlegs, ngl.
You definitely should!! I can't recommend it enough. It's a super satisfying hobby 🥰😊
If u played deep sleep music I’d love it even more, I Loki fall asleep Everytime I watch any of ur vids, love u fam
I can try that! I'm not sure what deep sleep music is and if there are royalty free versions but I'll take a look! Thank you for the idea :)

Yeah, absolutely. Hopefully, the smell got there after the toys had been put in storage :/ Thank you 😊😊
Thank you for the review, a beautiful video and very informative! 👍
Glad it was helpful! :)
I have a vintage Hasbro sweetie pup.
Nice!! I am considering starting yet another collection xD
Such fabulous hair! (The result, of course)
I'm so glad you like it, I wasn't too sure, never seen one of these kitties! ☺️☺️

Vaya, qué transformación tan increíble. Me pregunto que diablos es este gato kkkkkkk

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE !
I found it in a my little pony bundle but you might be able to find one if you search for Lady Lovely Locks! Good luck!!

Its probably the music but she went for “git away from mah trailer” to “aw sweetheart lets git you somethin warm to eat”

always use wet hair! you can put conditioner on top but it’s not compulsory. and always use the straighteners on the very lowest setting possible and don’t spend too long on one area or it will burn :)
Like bunnychu said ☺️ Always something to hydrate the hair (water, conditioner, fabric softener) and the lowest possible setting on the straightener.
*as always cool, like!*

why do you always start combing from the tips, if you don't mind me asking?
