Do you mean Benzoyl or hydrogen peroxide cream? Benzoyl should never be used on ponies 😥. If youre using hydrogen cream i apologize for pointing it out but its worth making sure for your ponies sake, and so no one misunderstands and uses Benzoyl. Vinyl is porous and Benzoyl cream stays inside the pores so the pony will continue to beach in the years to come and it will leech out and stain other ponies this one comes in contact with. A lot of collectors wont even take a pony thats had acne cream on it bc itll ruin other ponies. I myself would never refuse a pony bc they deserve love but it would need to be wrapped up seperate. Acne cream should only be used on natural tone doll faces, as it is a different type of vinyl and colorant than that. Acne cream bleaches out all synthetic coloring and dyes, so any plastic colored with dyes such as my little ponies should not be bleached with acne cream. It bleaches out the ponies dye as it sees it as a stain and will continue to do so until its covered in white splotches. Plastic colored with pigment such as natural skintone barbies are safe to use bc there is no dye. Dolls such as monster high with rainbow colored skin cannot. The safest way to use peroxide with ponies is liquid hydrogen peroxide, oxi clean, or hydrogen peroxide cream but ive never tried the cream i couldnt give any personal experience advice with that. You could soak your ponies in the solution inside for a time and it will help remove any stains, mold, and bacteria. Or place it in the solution then place the tub outside for UV, im not sure how long a UV lamp would take, most likely significantly shorter so I would be careful. These methods do not continue to whiten ponies as acne cream does. The only things to note when using hydrogen peroxide, it may make the vinyl more firm if you use it for extended periods of time, should not be used on neon hair as it will cause the dye to leak out, and will remove the shine from glitter cutie marks or tinsel hair. Again, you may be using hydrogen, I just wanted to make sure to keep yours and everyones ponies safe. Thank you for caring for this pony ❤ (Edit: i found the 40 cream in the description, sorry!! That's a great thing. I wasn't too careful with mine and I had to buy a lot of them once grown up. I don't have any of my mom's toys but my sister inherited her doll and she had it professionally restored, it looks so pretty now 😊
Thank you SO MUCH 😊😊I make the videos over several days, they are a great break from working at the computer. I definitely recommend it, the materials are easy to find!
Your work is beautiful! But I'd like to ask you about the hair that you use. I've rerouted liddle kiddles and some other dolls. I think that we use the same replacement hair. How do you get the hair to stay curled without doing a boil perm? I've always had to boil perm it to keep the hair curled. Does yours uncurl?
Thank you 😊 I use two types of hair: Nylon and acrylic. Acrylic (the one used here) doesn't stay curled for long, unless boiled, like you mentioned. Nylon is much easier to do, I honestly just use hot water and leave the hair in the curlers for at least 24 hours. Most nylon hair I use is from DollHairEmporium (UK) or ShimmerLocks (USA). It's thinner. Maybe that's the difference?
I'm really glad you enjoy them! Ponies are quite easy to clean and repair, vinyl is a very friendly material. It's also a really therapeutic activity, should you ever want to give to a try 😁 (I don't collect much myself, I like repairing them and giving them to kids)
I have a flutter pony Found it somewhere around a abandoned building It does have clay in the eyes The hair is in perfect condition but might re do it It got paint on it Any tips on how to remove the clay?
This video popped up in my recommended out of the blue and honestly, watching it was really fascinating and genuinely kind of therapeutic! Peachy came out great and it was so interesting to see your process when it came to fixing her, it almost makes me want to try toy restoration myself someday o: That being said, that custom painted look before you cleaned her up looked absolutely wild. That earthy colour palette makes me wonder what her original owner had in mind for her!
Haha thank you 😊😊 I'm glad you came across it and found it therapeutic! Someone mentioned a "battle horse" effect made by a brother and I think that's a possible explanation! You should definitely try toy restoring, there are lots of them in need of care, and it's a really satisfying hobby! Feel free to contact me if you ever have quesitons 😊
This gave me life!!!! 1980s my little ponies for ever!! I am sorry but those are the ones I grew up on and I loved them dearly, I am not at all fond of the current abominations. This was so wonderful to look at. thank you for the video.
It is tempting, but there's also so much hair you can fit in the original little holes before they risk breaking. The worst case scenario is when the holes merge together and the hair becomes loose. Risks :P (bubt yeah, I am tempted!)
I'm not really in the right time born As since i was born in 2007 But as soon i saw the old ponies i fell in love with them The quality is much better and the characters designs and personalitys also I do think that the old ponies are better than the ones we have nowadays
I grew up with the G1s (they were very expensive so I only had one) but I agree that they are the prettiest. I don't mind G4s, but G2s... just.. not for me :P Confession: I never actually saw the cartoon!
I had 72 of these G1s. Including rareish/special ones [growing hair, jewel eyes, fuzzy, big brother ponies, etc]. Gave them to my brother for his 2 girls and they apparently just disappeared.
72!! Wow!! Hopefully they ended up in the hands of other children. Mine disappeared too... but I'm slowly buying them back. Very slowly, because they were Argentinian and rare, they cost a fortune now xD

Thank you so much! I'm really glad the videos inspired you with your restorations :) I haven't done many dolls but I know for example that it's common to use zit cream. Which, if used on ponies, can stain the plastic for ever!

I didn't know you could do that with peroxide cream! (I have some at home because I bleach my hair) I'll try to keep it in mind for if I ever need to clean something like that :)
Yes, peroxide cream is super effective! Just be careful not to apply it to the hair because it can damage the colour. For vinyl, it really is a miracle solution. Thank you so much for watching the video :)
I really could have used this video a couple years ago when I got a bag of vintage MLPs. I’m glad it’s out there now though. Great job with the restoration!
@@RetroGeekCrafts I hope so too but my collection may be a bit out of control at this point! Lol! Still looking for my “holy grail” pony though… so who knows!
Dried acrylic paint doesn't wash off in water. I learned that the hard way xD It flaked off, because there was no proper base coat underneath, and material the toy was made off, is luckily not the one acrylic like to stick on. Water with soap however, works perfectly with wet acrilic paint.
I understand your pain xD If you leave it under hot water, the acrylics are not good quality and there is no other paint underneath it's mostly okayish... We have learned our lesson :)
Peachy look like Fluttershy :0 but peachy don't have wings and butterflies as cutiemark xd Still I love his design :D I plan on getting a 1st gen pony I really love vintage stuff 😻
Try to keep them! They are great toys and very valuable if you have the rare ones. If you need help identifying them you can ask in the MLP G1 groups on Facebook - or send me an Instagram message and I can identify them for you.
Beautiful job! However, FYI, it's spelled crevices, not crevasses and Alas! is an interjection of sorrow, meaning roughly unfortunately, so you can't use it for something that turned out right.
You're correct ☺️ (English is my second language and unfortunately you can't edit videos once uploaded, but I'm actually doing a re-edit of this one because the music is😆)
You could see a little bit of the symbols through the paint. Because of the pose I knew it had to be one of the early earth ponies. I wasn't sure if it would be Snuzzle or Peachy though, they both have pink hair and blue eyes :)
If my future kids ever try to do something like that to their toys, i know what they gonna get for all next celebrations as a gift - a rock. They can paint rock and do whatever. But cut the hair lr paint toys?! Never 😭 they gotta stay pure and beautiful as they r.
Yeah, how convenient, that paint did not stain the plastic/rubber. Now what shall we do, if it does? Nothing will help get rid of the old guashe/marker/ink stains
Hydrogen peroxide + Uv light or sunfading gets rid of most marks - but it can take days, weeks and even months to fully remove them. You can see more "inconvenient" damage in some of the other videos ;) The worst is the pink stains from the mounts.
Story time! So uhm-, I have a REALLY old CD and book featuring these mlp characters, and a couple of dolls- when I was 3-4 years old, I thought they were creepy because of the eyes, so I painted over them- and now it looks WORSE LOL
Haha oh no xD I find these older eyes very cute, I feel that some of the new ones look always surpirsed. Depends what you used to paint over them, it might be reversible (feel free to message me if you need help!) 😊
A lot of people think this type of hair (acrylic) is terrible but I think it's a great option, especially in places where you can't find nylon. Hair extensions are quite common. I'd still recommend nylon because it's easier to work with, though!
Thank you so much :) Did she have purple body or purple hair? She might have been Blossom (purple body) or Glory (purple hair, I made a video of her too).

How do you clean or remove dirt that has build up for years on rubber like toys? I found a small kewpie doll in a yard sale not sure if it's vintage but it was really dirty when I bought it so I washed it with a little water and soap the body cleared up good since it was wearing a dress that protected the body however the face still looks dirty and I tried washing it many times but it still looks dirty I managed to clear it a bit but it still looks dirty and I'm scared of trying another thing cause I feel the paint it going to rub off. Also awesome video
Thank you for your comment and for watching the video :) There are a few things you can try. The first would be acetone and/or alcohol, but NOT on the eyes or any painted areas because it will remove them. If you think the paint is strong (if it's not faded or chipped), you can soak the doll in hot water with oxiclean or a similar powder (UI never tested this with a kewpie, however, so maybe keep an eye on it). You keep it in for a few hours and the bubbles help a lot. The method that will work for sure is hydrogen peroxide (hair salon cream) and UV light or sunlight. That kills all the bacteria, even inside the pores.
Most acrylic paints are water-based (although made with polymer emulsions, oils, soaps, etc), but become water-resistant when dry. I think what I meant, though, is they are water-soluble :)
Do you mean Benzoyl or hydrogen peroxide cream? Benzoyl should never be used on ponies 😥. If youre using hydrogen cream i apologize for pointing it out but its worth making sure for your ponies sake, and so no one misunderstands and uses Benzoyl.

this makes me thankful that I was so careful with the ones my mam gifted me as a child, they used to be hers and she let me have them and I loved them
That's a great thing. I wasn't too careful with mine and I had to buy a lot of them once grown up. I don't have any of my mom's toys but my sister inherited her doll and she had it professionally restored, it looks so pretty now 😊
Pure talent. I would NEVER have the patience to do this.
Thank you SO MUCH 😊😊I make the videos over several days, they are a great break from working at the computer. I definitely recommend it, the materials are easy to find!
What a wonderful restoration!! I’m sure most people would have just trashed her in that condition.. Glad you have her a beautiful second life!
Thank you so much! 😊 They are uite difficult to find in this condition, like you said, most people throw them away :(
i love the old MLP!
Me too!!!! :D :D
I honestly don't care much for like pony collecting but this is so satisfying to watch I can't stop
I'm really glad you enjoy them! Ponies are quite easy to clean and repair, vinyl is a very friendly material. It's also a really therapeutic activity, should you ever want to give to a try 😁 (I don't collect much myself, I like repairing them and giving them to kids)
Same, it's just nice to see a toy restored and ready for play again.
I have a flutter pony
Found it somewhere around a abandoned building
It does have clay in the eyes
The hair is in perfect condition but might re do it
It got paint on it
Any tips on how to remove the clay?
I would first try with hot water. Try not to rub too much though, because the paint might come off too. Soaking is safer :) That was a lucky find!!
This video popped up in my recommended out of the blue and honestly, watching it was really fascinating and genuinely kind of therapeutic! Peachy came out great and it was so interesting to see your process when it came to fixing her, it almost makes me want to try toy restoration myself someday o:
That being said, that custom painted look before you cleaned her up looked absolutely wild.
Haha, subtle :P I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 😊 (but I have to let you know: the next one is of G4s... but hey, at least I'm defacing them!! xD)
@@RetroGeekCrafts Lol
Great video! I found you through a FB ad. Subscribed and looking forward to more videos!
Thank you! There's a new restoration video coming tonight :)
I know this is a restoration and not a diy project but id have added more hair to the maine bc I love lots of hair to style lol.
It is tempting, but there's also so much hair you can fit in the original little holes before they risk breaking. The worst case scenario is when the holes merge together and the hair becomes loose. Risks :P (bubt yeah, I am tempted!)
I'm not really in the right time born
As since i was born in 2007
But as soon i saw the old ponies i fell in love with them
The quality is much better and the characters designs and personalitys also
I do think that the old ponies are better than the ones we have nowadays
I grew up with the G1s (they were very expensive so I only had one) but I agree that they are the prettiest. I don't mind G4s, but G2s... just.. not for me :P Confession: I never actually saw the cartoon!
@@RetroGeekCrafts G3 is my favorite.
Omg I love this video you did such a great job! Also peachy is the best, You made her look spectacular! Makes me want to go buy my own peachy 😄
Thank you so much for watching! Peachy is adorable, I love the colours. This is still my favourite restore because I had no idea what was underneath the paint!
Peachy looks hood as new thanks to you friend
Thank you :) :)
wow how wonderful! she really looks brand new, if not better! very interesting process. it makes me happy to see toys get a better life instead of being thrown in the trash :D great work you do!
Thank you so much 🥰😊 I really enjoy doing these restorations.
Wow! What a difference the hours you put into this pony made!
Thank you 😊
That is the calmest I've ever seen anybody about removing acrylic paint
Haha behind the scenes things were very different 😆😆
I have had a lot of luck using rubbing alcohol to remove paint from toys that have had a makeover. It is not as strong as acetone and I have never had It remove factory paint. Also great rescue! :D
I still have to try alcohol! Thank you for the tip 😊
I love your videos! You deserve more subscribers, you helped me a lot with restoring some vintage ponies I have , since they need different treatment than dolls ! :))
Thank you so much! I'm really glad the videos inspired you with your restorations :) I haven't done many dolls but I know for example that it's common to use zit cream. Which, if used on ponies, can stain the plastic for ever!
This feels a less cinematic and more wholesome version of the restoration scene from Toy Story 2.
Hahaha thanks :)
У меня такая пони валяется в ящике. Нафиг не нужна.
I couldn't translate one of your words but I understand you have this pony in a drawer. I hope it's in better condition that mine when I started :)
I was sad overthinking so I went to find something to get calmed and I found your channel, it helped me a lot to relax, thank you so much, you have a new subscriber
What did they do to you peachy? I’m glad you went to the vet.
Haha thanks ☺️ I think she was a work in progress, maybe a camouflage custom to be?
@@RetroGeekCrafts Thanks for the heart I will treasure it dearly
Great job. The Fausticorn would be proud.
Thank you 😊😊
This is beautiful! It’s giving me lots of memories! 💗
I'm so glad it does and that you enjoyed the video :) Thank you for watching!
Bro I need someone to do this but with my face XD
Unless you're made of vinyl, I strongly suggest you DO NOT use acetone or hydrogen peroxide on your face xD
I didn't know you could do that with peroxide cream! (I have some at home because I bleach my hair)
I'll try to keep it in mind for if I ever need to clean something like that :)
Yes, peroxide cream is super effective! Just be careful not to apply it to the hair because it can damage the colour. For vinyl, it really is a miracle solution. Thank you so much for watching the video :)
oh my gosh the pony even started smiling after the restoration! it was so sad before!!! amazing job!!
I really could have used this video a couple years ago when I got a bag of vintage MLPs. I’m glad it’s out there now though. Great job with the restoration!
Thank you 😊☺️ Maybe you'll come across a new bag some day!
We have learned our lesson :)
yes that is indeed peachy
And she was quite intact underneath the paint!
Peachy look like Fluttershy :0 but peachy don't have wings and butterflies as cutiemark xd Still I love his design :D I plan on getting a 1st gen pony I really love vintage stuff 😻
She was the original inspiration for Fluttershy ☺️☺️ I hope you find a nice G1! (Sorry for the super late reply)
My little pony. Restoration is magic.
I love this :D
@@RetroGeekCrafts, and I love your content! ;)
Thank you so much 😊😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts, no, thank YOU.~
Does anybody else really want an old My little pony now?
I always want more! 🥰💸💸
Poor sweet pony, the after is beautiful!
This is amazing! Great job!👌👌👌
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it :)
i have a whole bin of those thing from when my mom was a kid
Try to keep them! They are great toys and very valuable if you have the rare ones. If you need help identifying them you can ask in the MLP G1 groups on Facebook - or send me an Instagram message and I can identify them for you.
Stop, this is so wholesome!
LOL thanks 😊
Beautiful job! However, FYI, it's spelled crevices, not crevasses and Alas! is an interjection of sorrow, meaning roughly unfortunately, so you can't use it for something that turned out right.
You're correct ☺️ (English is my second language and unfortunately you can't edit videos once uploaded, but I'm actually doing a re-edit of this one because the music is😆)
Amazing work 👏
Thank you so much 😊
How did you know it was Peachy when you first saw her before restored?
You could see a little bit of the symbols through the paint. Because of the pose I knew it had to be one of the early earth ponies. I wasn't sure if it would be Snuzzle or Peachy though, they both have pink hair and blue eyes :)
❤
❤❤
The child who painted this toy is a real artist
I think so too! I feel a little bad I changed it, I might do a new camouflage on top :P
She looks a lot like Fluttershy lol.
She does! Fluttershy is my favourite G4 :)
@@RetroGeekCrafts I have always liked Rainbow Dash but now I like Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy lol
Fluttershy was based off of Posey from G1
Why am I even watching this?? I have school tommorrow! I gotta get up at 6am everyday.
Ouch, 6 am!! Hope you had a good day!
This is so cute
She is very cute :) I have her by my monitor now because I love thinking about the before-after difference!
I don't know why I'm here but watching the paint be removed was satisfying
Thank you for being here :) (and I'm glad you enjoyed it!)
amazing! maybe try pencil ringlets for the fringe next time to avoid any crimping
That's such a good idea!!! Thank you!!
Omg! I have this pony! Obviously it looks kinda nasty, but I have that one and a few others
Nice! Peachy is a great pony ☺️☺️
That’s war horse camouflage. I did something similar to my little sister’s MLP back in the day, my Action Man needed something to ride into battle on!
I love the name. This might be it ;)
If my future kids ever try to do something like that to their toys, i know what they gonna get for all next celebrations as a gift - a rock. They can paint rock and do whatever. But cut the hair lr paint toys?! Never 😭 they gotta stay pure and beautiful as they r.
I like to think it didn't have hair, and they were just giving it a camouflage look ☺️ But starting with rocks is always a good idea!!
Warning: acetone is indiscriminate with all kinds of paint. If you use it on the original paint it will come off 99.99% of the time please be careful!
Very true! Never apply to eyes or symbols!
@@RetroGeekCrafts Yes please! I’d love to restore the ponies I have ruined over my childhood-
I always used acrylic because that’s all we had.
I was born in 1982. Weird
A great time to be born 😊
pretty sure i have this one haha! i gotta look through some old boxes to find it though
I hope you find her! Thank you for watching the video :)
Great idea for what you used for her mane and tail!
Probably more inexpensive than buying fake hair online.
A lot of people think this type of hair (acrylic) is terrible but I think it's a great option, especially in places where you can't find nylon. Hair extensions are quite common. I'd still recommend nylon because it's easier to work with, though!
It almost looks like the paint protected the eyes and symbols from being rubbed off like we see in so many other vintage ponies.
That's true! 😊
when i was a kid i had same shape ponie in purple color and i loved it so mutch , nice work i love it
Thank you so much :) Did she have purple body or purple hair? She might have been Blossom (purple body) or Glory (purple hair, I made a video of her too).
@@RetroGeekCrafts body her body was purple, cant remember her hair color but l know she was purple and same shape head l was 90s kid and it was my One of the favorites toys, l love horses 😄 and she smeled so good dont know why but she had good smell, l was wierd kid 😄😄😄
@@TheEigylyte Sounds like Blossom, you can get her today for relatively cheap and there is also a new reissue. I liked the smell too I remember :)
This makes me think of toy story 2 where the guy fixes woody, this video has the same energy and I love it 👌🏻
I'm very glad you enjoyed it :)
Flutter's ancestor..
Indeed! 😊
I like everything about restoration or make over...and this you did it great. Love it...I am waiting for your another video...turn nothing to something👍👍
Hi! This comment had gone to spam for some reason!! I just saw and restored it now. Sorry! I'm quite new to RUclips :) Thank you for stopping by ☺️☺️
❤️❤️🧡💛💛
🥰🥰
The mane must have took awhile.. good job! Peachy looks great!
I use a differetn type of hair now (vinyl instead of acrylic) and is muuuch easier to do :)
I just wanna know what on earth sort of project were they working on for that pony originally tho damn it was ugly
I think it was a camouflage pony! ☺️☺️
Wait....these mlp toys are vintage?!
My box filled with different editions of mlp dolls under my bed: 👀
The ones with this shape, yes! They are from the 80s. Some of them are quite valuable, you can ask in the FB groups for their names :)
@@RetroGeekCrafts wow. My mum had been collecting them and gave them to me when I was little cause I was a mlp fan. This is interesting to know, thanks for responding!
Did peachy used to be flutter shy?!
In a different life 😊 (She was actually the inspiration for Fluttershy!)
It's such a pleasure to watch collectibles being restored.I didn't collect My Little Ponies, though I was gifted the little baby Mer-ponies ages ago,and wish I still had them. They were so cute! I'm sure it's very satisfying for you to use your artistic talents to give these Ponies and action figures new life.I'm impressed by your customs as well!
Having grown up with the OG Ponies and the toys all over my bedroom its so heartwarming tomsee Peach back to her former glory, she was always one of my faves!!
Nice! Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Maybe repaint fluttershys cutie mark? (I don’t any of this stuff so I might be wrong 😅)
Do you mean the bubtterflies? It would be really cool to do a G1 (Generation 1, older ponies made in the 80s like this one) with the Fluttershy (newer generation, G4) cutie mark. I think Fluttershy's personality was based on this pony, she was originally called Peachy :)
@@RetroGeekCrafts oh ok
I bet this was meant to be a camouflage re-paint until they gave up!
I think so too! 😊
I had some of those as a kid. Never realized it was the same as the My Little Ponies today
Yes! It's the first generation :) This one, for example, was the inspiration for Fluttershy!
I still have all the ponies from this generation, all in great condition.
That's great!! 😊😊
Why am I watching this.. Idk I'm bored
Hope you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching 😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts okay thank you so much for the advice :)
Acrylic paint is not water based… you meant tempera
Most acrylic paints are water-based (although made with polymer emulsions, oils, soaps, etc), but become water-resistant when dry. I think what I meant, though, is they are water-soluble :)
