Speed Master VS. EZ Detail Brush: Wheel Detailing Brushes!

- Опубликовано: 30 май 2017
- The speed master and ez detail brush are both great brushes for tackling brake dust build up on the inner most barrel of the wheels. When coupled with meguiars wheel brightener, they work wonders at eliminating even the most intense brake dust build up. At first glance, both the ez detail brush and speed master seem to be exactly the same, and it was based on that logic exactly that I used the EZ detail brush for years. I recently switched over to the speed master brush, simply because I like to experiment with new tools and products. What I found surprised me. The speed master brush is now the brush that I stick with in every detail job I do, and I have since thrown away my EZ detail brush. The speed master brush with meguiars wheel brightener, I am convinced, is the absolute best way to clean wheels on most any vehicle. Meguiars wheel brightener reacts with the brake dust, and the speed master's firm yet soft bristles agitate the surface. The speed master and ez detail brush seem so similar on the surface, and yes, both work great with meguiars wheel brightener when cleaning wheels and brake dust, but check out this video, and find out why I think the EZ detail brush has an achilles heel.

oh man this video came at the perfect time couldn't decide thank you!
Ivan Zabalza that's so awesome! It's my pleasure!
EZ DETAIL MANUFACTURER says they are both the same brush. I contaced them after being confused by all the names & colours - Daytona, Speedmaster & Ez Detail. SpeedMaster is made as a private label for AutoGeek, Autopia, Pinnacle etc, but exactly the same. Daytona name is discontinued & now just EZ Detail. Great video, maybe your red brush was just newer than the older blue one. Cheers.
I am in the UK and I'm too confused as I see many varieties of this brush and not sure if it's the same one as this one in the video , how can you tell which one is which?
Some pictures show tge branded on the stem eg daytona or speedmaster, and some picture don't have any branding but in listing it says made by EZ or soliciting made by speedmaster
Hi, sorry to bother you, but this might be my only chance to find EZ detail company.
Our company are very interested in these brushes.
We've sent mails but no one replied.
We've called them but the number is disconnected/ is no longer in service.
It will be so much appreciated if you could tell us how you reached them before.
Thank you so much.
3 yrs later & this video is still helpful. I need this brush in my life ever since I started detailing weeks ago since I got the supra. Thanks wilson🙌 what's you're thoughts on cover all wheel shine? I'm torn between a few that doesn't spatter everywhere or run
Thanks mate I was really concerned regarding which brushes would work best I really really appreciate it I’ll be ordering mine today
That's awesome Jonathan!! Thanks for saying something!
Great passion and information. Well put together video. Positive Flow.
Thanks eric!
Just used my new Speed Master Brush today. Awesome! I have a 2018 Subaru STI and the calipers are so big upfront there is very little room for a cleaning brush. The Speed Master gets right in there cleaning the caliper and the wheel drum as well. First time I washed the car I didn't have it and had to roll the car to get all of the wheel and caliper clean. Love it!
So awesome Gary and great to hear!!! It really is an awesome tool for so many more things than just wheels!!! So glad to hear the it is working for you!!!
Love the shirt! Im a Blue Raider myself. Aerospace degree in 2007..
Thorough and informative video. Thanks for posting!!
I’m glad you made this video I’m about to switch to the speed master. The handle on my ez detail brush pulled off.
Ya I definitely prefer the speed master!
Same thing happened to my Maxshine Speedmaster the first time I used it on the second wheel of my car. Could've been a fake off ebay though, who knows
FYI, the rubber cap came off on a similar brush I had on it's second use. I ended up melting on a new "cap" with a hot glue gun, and it works great. The best part is that when it wears off, I'll just remove it and melt on some more, but so far it's been quite durable.
I Love your work bro! Definitely you are the best! ;)
God Bless You!
I have both. I agree the speed master has slightly stiffer bristles, I also find it has more sling when I pull it out of the wheel barrel which covers me in gunk!! So I use the ez detail brush more as it doesn’t do this . Every tool had flaws
Luke ..what is the best rim cleaner for spraying on and rinsing off? Also would you use this wheel brightner for flat black rims with no clear coat
I would never use wheel brightener for wheels that are not clear coated simply because it is not safe, but as far as spraying on and wiping off I honestly think wheel brightener does amazing with even that, but I tend to stay away from products that are so strong they take no agitation because those products I would call a bit to dangerous
Great comparison of these 2 popular brushes!
Mad Wax thank you!
Mad Wax I like this kid! I need to take a nap after watching him, he has so much energy! Lol
LOL no doubt B! God I wish I had that kinda energy again, I'd finish my detail jobs in half the time!
Hahaha...I would have to pound a sixpack of Monster Energy to match this kids pace! Gonna be a star! ✨
LOL
What r ur thoughts on eagle one tire and rim cleaner?
Good vid! I need to pick up a speed master... I have learned over the years to NOT buy knock-offs. Just a waste of money to me! Two thumbs up Luke...
Yes absolutely and great point!! Thanks brotha!!
another great video from wilson auto detailing.
is it possible to make a video on how to keep brush, towels, applicators etc cleaning by using chemicals etc...
thanks.
Junior Sandoval of course!!
I'm a bit of a wheel woolie fan😉😊 I tried a brush similar to yours and whilst it cleaned well and had excellent reach deep into the barrell it tends to splatter brake dust gunk all over me. So wheel woolies are much better in that regard.
That it does! hahahaha something I just kind of deal with!
This is also why I love my wheel woolies, I used to get so covered in spray I needed a wash before I could see my customer lol, but they do clean very well, it's just messy. I'm sticking to wheel woolies and a microfiber cloth.
Oliver Taylor Yeah I will get wheel whoolies cause of that spray of gunk...
Do the microfiber wheel Woolies clean a dirty barrel as well? I feel like soft microfiber running over a barrel caked with brake dust wouldn’t agitate it enough.
How do you keep these brushes in good condition,? recenrly purchssed a new one and the bristles are going weird like not a straight & flexible
put in warm water
Man I knew I liked you. I graduated from MTSU lol. Lived in LaVergne and Nashville area for a long time. Awesome. I saw your shirt and put 2 and 2 together. Go Blue Raiders.
Hahahahaha thats awesome!!!!!!!
I've looked at the Meguiars Wheel Brighter you love and was wondering is there a big concern in it being acid based? Right now, just have factory vehicles on all our vehicles. I have had an older Porsche in the past that I'm sure this product would etch. Just don't know if any wheels today are being anodized.
I always say that it is safe for 90 percent of situations, but ofcourse common sense and caution is always welcome with acid based cleaners
Craig, Megs now also offers non acid wheel cleaner D143. Check it out!
Dab a little bit of epoxy or silicone onto the tip of the EZ detail brush? Also maybe the EZ is less firm due to the two years of use?
Love the videos man!
Thanks Chase!! I will have to try that!! You rock!
Can you do a video of wheel arches cleaning? I'm aleays twisting my hands to get to all corners and stuff it's annoying.. or i'm not using the right tools
Just to make sure I understand, specify what you mean when you say wheel "arches"
Just bend the brush into the shape of your wheel well.
Good advise👍🏼
I like the Wheel Woolies I've heard great things about them!!
Yep they are great as well!
Nice video!
I've used both interchangeably over the last 10 years and I can says they are virtually identical. Both last me about the same time about both are the best wheel brushes in the world. Period.
Are the bristles the same or different as mentioned in this video
Hey Wilson , dont you think your bristles went softer after all theses years? Anyway softer bristles mean less scratching nothing is perfect. You could try to plasti dip your tip if it go away again its easy to do! Nice video btw.
Same brush same bristles same manufacture. They are sold by different retailers; thats it. I like how you swear they are different. It even says it on the handle. Good video though. Plus Blue Raiders rock - MBorro!!
What 😳 so there not different other than colour??
Use some plasti dip to create a new protection barrier on your old brush & keep it in the arsenal
The tips are plasti dip like to start. Perfect response. Mine came off and I did the same. I put some rust converter on the metal tip first.
+inxs13 ya I actually used a hot glue gun!
Plasti Dip is $25 a can here in Toronto...doesn't make sense to use that.
Thats funny, i have a SM brush and recently ordered a 3 piece Ez detail kit from McKee’s. I had both brushes side by side and could not really tell a difference. There was one .. albeit small. I ended up selling the EZ Brush along with A incredibrush together. I still have the larger and smaller EZ Brushes. My quality wheels are wide open and can get in there easily with a wool finger mitt but the larger EZ brush works great too especially around the rotor and side of the caliper as i go around.
Definitely! Speaks to the need for professionals especially to have quite an array of brushes to attack all different kinds of situations. For a weekend warrior you can pretty much tailor your garage for whatever you need
So what was the “albeit small” difference?
Love my Speed Master, made in the USA too. Where is the EZ detail made?
Adam N I just bought the EZ detail brush. It’s made in the USA as well.
lol its made by EZ
can you tell me if I can pick one up at a car parts store?
Louis Lowe definitely not at a more retail shop like auto zone. But if you have a more unique detailer outlet in your area than they may very well have one!
How many inches is that ez brush. Thanks
About a foot!
Great vid! My chemical guys brush broke today after probably using only 5-6 times max over a 6 month period, I'm a car enthusiast and not a pro detailer! The metal rod broke in half at the grip, I'm going to call them and see what kind of warranty if any comes with it! I'm local to their shop so I love shopping there. It was only $20 and worked well but not durable. Speed master is in my amazon cart from your link! If I purchase later from another device will you still get the credit? Want to help you out since your vids are so informative
Brent thanks so much man! I appreciate your heart and all of that encouragement! I'm fairly certain that the only way I get commission is if on the specific device you use, you go through my link on that device! Thanks again for the comment! I love it!!!!
were can I buy this type of brushes.
Carlos Vazquez use the links right below the video in the description box!!
Auto geek sent me a free ez detail mini brush with my purchase of super degreaser! Don't know if they are still offering it or not
dang that's awesome man!
do you have a water tank or do you use the water on site?
Hector Martinez I hook up to water on site 👍🏻👍🏻
Wilson Auto Detailing what changes do you make if there is no water source? other than waterless wash?
Definitely a good question, I think it will be better answered in a q and a video, because there are so many moving parts to that question that it will be easier to explain over video if thats ok with you! Great great question!
Wilson Auto Detailing sounds good. looking for that video soon! I use a water tank inside my trailer, but I think but would be helpful to others!
Groove street detailing
Almost identical except that the speed master is designed for more frequent use
hakman239 yep it definitely seems that way
I recommend getting the maxshine wheel brush because it's half the price and the same thing.
They are identical brushes made in the same factory by the same people
Both the same buddy. Ez brush is awesome
I concur, the EZ detail is not as effective as the Speed Master I have seen this first hand as a pro detailer!!!!!
Are you in fact Barry Goldberg?
hahahahahahahha your hilarious
My rubber tip came off!
Yep seems to be common!
Do I spy some super clean in the background?
hahahahahaa quite an observation!
Wilson Auto Detailing I just got a gallon myself last night off of Scott from Dallas paint corrections recommendation
Well you made a great decision. Scott is an amazing guy, and super clean is absolutely incredible
Wilson Auto Detailing you two both have been helping me a lot so thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely! He is a great guy to follow for sure!
Alan Jouban?
Hey luke, I'd like to help this channel out simply by using your links, but have to many products to find every video they are all in . Do you use Amazon smile with a selection of charity? If so, what is the name so you can get a fraction of the income off all my purchases @Wilson Auto Detailing
Just an FYI.....both brushes are made by the same company.
oh gotcha!
Yep, same brush and manufacturer, different color.
After watching I need a shower
Michel Jackson ?
Best tool is my hot pressure washer for rims. Clean back of rims also. Seem like alot of work. Gay guy might like the brush
Lady boy
Bla Bla bla
You did not need a fucking 10 minute video to make a few statements that you could have said in 2-3 minutes. I appreciate you doing this, but try not to waste our time in the future.
Or just play the video on x2 speed
