Thank you Dean for that little tid bit at the end about the whole "It's about who wins the majority of the time". I've had the dissatisfaction of dealing with ignorant and uneducated people who boycott Death Battle over how X character didn't use A Move on Y character in the animations, when the animation itself is not what determines the fight, its the research. Yet people love to "debunk" certain death battles because their favourite characters lost and feel they cheated in some way. No matter how fair or reasonable they were to both characters, they are ALWAYS at fault if the fan favourite loses. Man, Death Battle and Screwattack in general must have the most thankless job on RUclips. They aren't earning anything from these battles. The revenue is from advertisements and promotional work from their company, they can't really (to my knowledge) get money from copyrighted material in these battles, even if its under free use. So they spend hours upon hours to determine who is the most likely person to win in many scenarios verses another character. Batman vs Spiderman for example is one of their hottest controversial battles. "Batman should win cause he's Batman. He always wins." "Batman has defeated the entire justice league by himself, he obviously is Superman level. He should have won" Comments like these are all over that video. It's truly sad that even if you put logic, deductive reasoning and sufficient evidence and information to conclude how a character wins over another, there is always a hundred people claiming you are biased, retarded, wrong and applying favouritism in the research you matriculated over weeks to reach the conclusion you found. Just sad. Anyway, rant over. Great video as always Dean. Thanks for sharing your views and thoughts on it and I can't wait to see the Mario vs Sonic one. It should be interesting. I know guys in the debating scene who say both Mario and Sonic are Multiversal level beings who can destroy, warp, control or alter infinite universes within certain ways in their respective franchises (Archive Comics and Mario Galaxy/Paper Mario are the places they pull from mostly). So if these characters are gonna have feats from these places, then I wonder if these new rules are what they mean by it. To include everything and not omit things. Who knows.
There are times though where they get calculations wrong. The Goku and Superman fight, for instance, they weren't able to calculate Goku's strength properly simply because his strength is nearly impossible to calculate when each level of Super Saiyan increases it exponentially. He should have been far stronger than they showed even in the rematch. That's part of the reason people argue that result, because Goku should have been stronger than their calculations, just with stuff from Resurrection F, disregarding Dragon Ball Super, which makes Goku even stronger and nearly impossible to hit if he uses a certain form he has access to known as Ultra-Instinct where he dodges and attacks without having to think about it. But as I said, even without Ultra-Instinct and Super in general, Goku should have been stronger in the rematch between the two and in the original, because their way of calculating his strength was flawed simply because his power increases in such a weird way. Not trying to start an argument, simply stating that sometimes they do get things wrong, usually due to the original source being erratic with strength and that.
@@timmaynard3497 I'm aware of that. But that's not the point of the comment I made. The point was, because of the verdict of the battle through matriculate research, people claim they are bias when they've always stood on the notion that the one who wins the majority of the time, is the overall Victor. I have zero doubt that Goku can defeat Superman. He can. Just like how Batman beat him or Flash or Lex Luthor. But it's the percentage that matters. How many instances, scenarios, events, probabilities do each character come out on top. With that in mind, I agree with Screwattack saying Superman beats Goku the majority of the time. How Wonder Woman beats Thor the majority of the time. How Dr Fate beats Dr Strange the majority of the time. I'm not devaluing how they do get calculations incorrectly or that their evidence is suspect at times, I'm not. They have admitted themselves they get things wrong (Cloud vs Link for example given that they limited too much on the availability on their respective equipment and accessories). I welcome anyone who has anything they wish to add to the discussion. Just so long as it's not gonna start pointless feuding and fights over differing opinionated perspectives.
Underrated comment here. Would like to mention that the VAST majority of those claims and feats are just overscaling the tiniest details of said characters/feats and leaping to a hundred assumption so that the debater's favorite character can win against anyone. Archie Sonic is an exception, being beyond stupid powerful, but Death Battle has shown before that they only use feats from non-canon sources as supporting evidence, so while they'll probably count, say, all those times Sonic survives being smashed through stone walls, they wouldn't count the time you ran across every universe in all of fiction in less than a day, or when he was sent flying millions of light years away and crashed into another planet and was fine. Totally agree with everything else you said, though.
LittleZbot 100% agree with you. It’s funny too, that debaters say that “X character beat Y character who’s supposedly universal and can destroy whole galaxies in a single attack. That means X character can do the same.” No. It doesn’t. Prime example is Freeza vs Goku where Freeza is established to be a large planet buster from way in the beginning. But because he lost to Goku, it means Goku is automatically a large planet buster. It doesn’t work that way. He’s shown no feats prior or after the fight with Freeza to suggest he can planet bust. Or to survive in space. Or to use immense telekinesis to move entire mountains and landscapes like Freeza could. To say “X character can do more than Y character” without sufficient evidence to suggest such a thing, is ludicrous. But yeah, it would be funny as hell if DB did use the more absurd feats for Archie Sonic in the upcoming rematch. But they already established that in their base forms, Sonic outclasses Mario regardless thanks to his blinding speed. So unless they are gonna backpedal, I don’t see how the result will end any differently.
They aren't using Archie Sonic. Ben said they wouldn't use it because it contradicts the main canon and they probably won't use Paper Mario because of Paper Jam.

I think the Wiz and Boomstick animations will be used pretty sparingly a while ago Ben talked about how often they go completely off script and make up something about what Wiz and Boomstick does, and then the editors just have to find some remotely related clip to use the animations are apparently so that the editors know what to do in those situations
Firstly, Nice job with your fight prediction. You pretty much nailed the reasoning for the winner. Well played! But the main focus of my comment is about the next time. They don't clarify it here in the next time, but in thier podcast and in a Blog Ben has been doing recently, they explain what the "with new rules" thing means. Back in season 1 of death battle, the episodes were a lot less about hardcore math and science. They would simply look at a feat and take it at face value, then reason it out from there as to why they would win. If you go back and watch the original Mario VS Sonic, you can see that they don't really have as many feats or calculations. Of course, back then,. Ben was the ONLY PERSON researching these fights, so it makes sense that he wouldn't have time to do the crazy indepth stuff. Since then though, the show has evolved greatly. They have an entire set of staff and researchers, and the show itself has become more focused on calculations and feats. And, as such, they've decided to redo that original episode in this newer style, analysing feats and calculations and junk. And that's what they meant by new rules.
lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/fN_hMnKYlIoTdpslI81MV5dhPUiVzwCyxxDAmA8lqySf2IW41JZl1a7P2TtGh88EcgDC6c_qBavrzpkY4DAFdl1LX6hwRENKmQntmHBzcU2IfeeR8CVrEUFcy963hy7ozwo-U5k8Nlw=w530-h802-p Sonic made and threw a ball of water which it its target all in 0.0000000000001 miliseconds, which puts him at the Attosecond level of reaction/speed (IE as fast as the Flash can think). Considering all the other zany bullshit Sonic has done they are going to need to ignore as much about Sonic as they possibly can while also grossly overwanking Mario beyond even their normal levels of bullshit (IE their DK vs Knuckles bout or their Shadow vs Mewtwo bout or how they ignored the official power rating from the Megaton Punch minigame for Kirby, so basically like almost literally every single bout they've done honestly) to give Mario a fighting chance. To put it bluntly, its a non-fight.
And the DK cartoon where they yanked the bit about him hitting a comet is? They take everything from anything they need to get the outcome they want while ignoring everything they need. Case in point, they used a filler scene with entirely unreadable text that had no units to get numbers for Goku's "durability" while ignoring that that Dr Gero stated said bomb wouldn't be enough to kill Goku. Another example is when they ignored that the Megaton Punch minigame has a max score of 201 megatons so they could claim Kirby has planet-level punches.
demomanchaos The Mario universe has no specific canon, so pretty much anything’s fair game(except Paper Mario, but only because that’s a separate character) Also yeah, 201 megatons can crack Popstar in half. 100% Also yay, more Goku VS Superman complaints even though that was more than 5 years ago. Wooooohooooo
Here’s the idea behind Mario VS Sonic. It’s just as you said, the rules of Death Battle have been changed around a lot since the original Mario VS Sonic. The whole “New rules” thing they advertised in this episode was referring to the current rules of the show. Basically, take the rules of how they’ve been analyzing fights more recently, that’s how Mario VS Sonic is gonna be viewed. Back in the day, the results were based off of interpretations and assumptions, but nowadays they’re based off of calculations and analytics. With this version of Mario VS Sonic, they’re gonna be looking at it from the ground up and starting all over again. TLDR: Pretend they never did the old Mario VS Sonic and they’re doing it for the first time now. As for the fight itself, it’s gonna be animated by BlindFerrett Studios. This is the group that did the animation for Smokey Bear VS McGruff the Crime Dog, so if you liked that one, this one’s hyped up to be better. They did get voice actors for both characters this time. Kamran Nikhad will play Mario, and you may know him as Sephiroth from Sephiroth VS Vergil. As for Sonic, they got Nicholas Andrew Louie to voice him. You can look him up to find out about him. As for the Wiz & Boomstick thing, the plan for that is to have the two hosts have animated appearances during the analysis and probably the recap. And yeah, Boomstick pretty much had no idea what a lens cap was and thought it was part of the lense. I think this will be a once in a while type thing like the black boxes that occasionally pop up in recent episodes. I think they have an idea on how to handle it so that it’s not distracting, but we’ll have to see
Fun fact: the guy who played nightwing played him in a nightwing fan series on RUclips. It was pretty well written and choreographed. You should check it out.
In case you wanted to know what actually in the briefcase which is confirmed by screwattack and Danny Shepard the director for the episode, in the briefcase it is nightwing‘s porn.
I think the "new rules" means they're gonna use their power-ups, so things like Cappy and Fire Flowers with Mario or Wisp powers and shields with Sonic.
There were at least four Robins, Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Jason Todd (Red Hood), Tim Drake (Red Robin) and the current Robin is Damian Wayne. But going with the fight itself, I honestly well if there was any time to lose a fight since I was rooting for Daredevil, I am kinda glad that I lost the first Live Action fight and it gives me a chance to learn from it and I can try again with the next Live Action fight. As for the next fight, I was a bit disappointed that it was Mario VS Sonic again but over time, I learned to get over it and considering that this is the 100th episode of the show and that the original fight was 7 years ago, maybe something could change from it but for the record, this isn't a rematch, it's a revisit to a classic episode that came out 7 years ago but this time Blind Ferret (Smokey VS McGruff) is doing the next one. Also going with how Wiz and Boomstick are animated now, they are going to be doing that from now on starting from Mario VS Sonic (2018) and onward. It was announced during RTX 2018 that they are going to be doing this style now. This video will explain everything to you. ruclips.net/video/7PotIGh7x7w/видео.html
There's actually a 5th Robin, between Tim Drake and Damian Wayne, name of Stephanie Brown, Tim Drake's girlfriend. She took over when he resigned, and eventually took the mantle of Batgirl.
To my knowledge, I didn't know much about her until recently as in a WatchMojo video for Top Ten Superhero Deaths in Comic Books since I was just going with the Robins that I knew the most.
I think the animation will be like what they did with Carolina Vs. Meta where, for example, they might show clips of/talk about a character’s particular weapon or feat and then have it cut to an animation of one or both of them exhibiting said weapon/feat.
Hey dude, in preparation for episode 100, what do you think of the idea of watching your Let's Watch of the first Mario Vs. Sonic Death Battle next week?
I think it'd be pretty fun. You get to rewatch their first famous video and see how far they've come with the new one, and we get to see your reaction to yourself AND to both videos. I like it.
When using the eletrical fist Daredevil's suit did resist it but didn't fully protect him from the high voltage, being able to survive electro's blasts was more akin to his own durability rather then the suit, and during Nightwing's final strike he hit him square in the jaw(where he had no suit protection) to snap his neck
I will say, this is a good Death Battle Cast to watch. They go over things and, you learn a lot. Like how they were going to use a car do the killing blow.
Hey Ris! A lot of people during your Xenoverse playthrough want you to watch DBZ Abridged and I concur. They just wrapped the third season and said that fourth won't be coming until next year at least so you have plenty of time to get caught up, even with 60 episodes plus movies. It's pretty good for understanding the canon too if you just know some basic things (almost anything they say about Popo is made up, Goku isn't THAT stupid though he's still pretty stupid, what happens with Yamcha in the future doesn't really happen). People will be more than happy to fill in details as they arise. But I think you'd really enjoy it!
Also originally they planned on doing a lead up Nightwing story on Ismahawk but time and funds got it scraped. Also it's the new rules they put in at begging of last season. Mario v Sonic was in the first season. Big example is sonic Archie comics would be excluded because they display feats that don't match the game cannon
The next one is their first true rematch. Goku vs Superman 2 was sold as one, but Ben clarified in his road to 100 blog that this wasn't his intention. He also talks a lot in that blog about how they've changed how they size up the characters and apply logic. Back in season 1, they very rarely used math and science to calculate character stats, opposed to now where they're extremely strict about feats and measurements. They had also been compositing Sonic characters with their ridiculous comic counterparts, but decided in DK vs Knuckles that those characters are too different and overly powerful compared to their canon selves to take into consideration. When asking the question 'who would win in a fight', Mario vs Sonic is one of the first things that comes to mind, and they really want to reevaluate and do it justice.
To clarify about Robin, Damien Wayne was basically Robin the Second because Nightwing was in the same story, so there's basically two Robins even within the same canon. I dunno about Red Hood though, I'm not well versed on DC lore.
Congratulations of not only breaking a wrong streak but starting a right streak. I was glad Nightwing won but am ashamed to say I thought Dare Devil would so you have been right 3 more times than me.
16:5917:30 i agree with you ris along with the rules and animate parts however i think it's going to replaced the scenes like the tattoo part in raven vs twilight sparkle and such.
"what did he learn from scanning him?" me: did you not see the anomaly it picked up? "irregularity in visual cortex." In other words, he learned DD is blind. Also he saw the waves emitteng off DD
So the new rules refers to the different rules in the original Mario vs Sonic compared to now. Mario vs Sonic 2018 is the first full rematch. Goku vs Superman 2 is what they describe is mainly a seuqlsequel but not really a rematch, they hate that they presented it that way. like how Wonder Woman and Thor have new analysis in comparison to back in season 1, Mario vs Sonic will be a completely new analysis as well.
It’s time boi’s for the match of a life time Mario, mascot of Nintendo and the protector of the mushroom kingdom vs Sonic, mascot of Sega and defender of the woodland creatures!
New you would like the story to this one. What's interesting is in the behind the scenes they said originally Nightwing was going to hit DD in the head with a cinderblocks but the destructible cinderblocks broke in there hands when they picked them up. Also when asked what was in the suitcase they fight over they said it was Nightwing porn collection.
@@BJGvideos unfortunately, due to it being broken near the end of my spine, doctors don't want to do any surgery for fear of it doing more harm than good
It's less more feats, and more new rules, in the old episodes of season 1-2 they didn't use the same feats standards and more intuitive counter based game logic, which isn't always the best. (*cough* Toph vs Gaara) Basically they are redoing it now that they are better as Vs Debate Logic.
Ris Grestar Some of my favorite ideas for mha would be: Bakugo vs Yang or Captain Falcon Todoroki vs Aang or Zuko Momo vs Hermione Granger or Annabeth Chase Tsuyu vs Spider-Gwen These are just some of my ideas.
Ris Grestar Do you think that it's too soon for that, or that they're fleshed out enough right now to throw them in? Also if you like the idea of discount superheros, check out the movie Mystery Men.
Before watching anything, I feel like this is a repeat of Batman v Spiderman. Where Daredevil's super awareness will counter all of Nightwing's stealth options, which is his primary go to.
Not to mention, there is no real way to figure out the spider sense at a glance, or even with a scan. While Daredevil's hightened senses and the radiation emitting are easy to figure out for someone as smart as Nightwing, as well as his scan visor.
Mattardis the thing I hate about it tho is that people with better tech than NightWing like BlackPanther and Iron Mans scanner couldn’t even figure out how Matt’s senses work, and NightWing just did it in one scan.

I think the Wiz and Boomstick animations will be used pretty sparingly
a while ago Ben talked about how often they go completely off script and make up something about what Wiz and Boomstick does, and then the editors just have to find some remotely related clip to use
the animations are apparently so that the editors know what to do in those situations
By the way, what he learned from the scan was that there was an "Irregularity" in his Optic region.
But Mario got this fight as cappy and the time stop is going to be Sonics downfall aka he's going to drown.

Sonic made and threw a ball of water which it its target all in 0.0000000000001 miliseconds, which puts him at the Attosecond level of reaction/speed (IE as fast as the Flash can think).
To put it bluntly, its a non-fight.
demomanchaos Good job using a feat from the comics that aren’t canon to the games bro
Another example is when they ignored that the Megaton Punch minigame has a max score of 201 megatons so they could claim Kirby has planet-level punches.
demomanchaos The Mario universe has no specific canon, so pretty much anything’s fair game(except Paper Mario, but only because that’s a separate character)
Also yeah, 201 megatons can crack Popstar in half. 100%
Also yay, more Goku VS Superman complaints even though that was more than 5 years ago.
Well, that would be important to retrieve, then.
Ris Grestar
More specifically, it’s porn of Nightwing that Nightwing is working on. That’s why he says it’s “part of an investigation he’s working on”
Soo, a present for Starfire, or Zatanna?
@@kevinworytko1099 naw Chief, it's Porno Drawings and Photos of Nightwing and Starfire bangin'
It started as a joke on Death Battle Cast, and then they just decided to make it canon. So that's amazing.
This one kills me, because of how much I like Daredevil, but I TOTALLY CALLED HOW NIGHTWING WAS GONNA WIN!
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer ..... Are you prepared for me to school you with facts?
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer Daredevil's first appearance was in April 1964, Nightwing's was in July 1984, 20 years after.
I’m so excited for the 100th episode being Mario Vs Sonic, it’s gonna be so good
The most hyped Death Battle in a long time... that instantly leads into a fight no one really cares about
I think the "new rules" means they're gonna use their power-ups, so things like Cappy and Fire Flowers with Mario or Wisp powers and shields with Sonic.
You forgot Stephanie Brown, the female Robin.
Stephanie Brown was the first female robin. apparently carrie kelly was robin in Frank Millers graphic novels.
@@redtailedhawkdude wait what!? is Stephanie brown older then the dark knight returns?!
Death Battle isn't about who COULD win. It's about who WOULD win.
Fair, just like educating the masses(including myself by randomly researching whatever pops in my head).
Maybe if people would be interested!
He probably will when that episode comes out, or rather that Saturday.
Ris Grestar
Watching you react to you old videos would be pretty fun.
But don’t forget to ask permission if you do Ris!
I think it'd be pretty fun. You get to rewatch their first famous video and see how far they've come with the new one, and we get to see your reaction to yourself AND to both videos. I like it.
Nice reaction Ris! Can't wait for the 100th!
That music and that video 20:38 to 20:41 fitted so well
When using the eletrical fist Daredevil's suit did resist it but didn't fully protect him from the high voltage, being able to survive electro's blasts was more akin to his own durability rather then the suit, and during Nightwing's final strike he hit him square in the jaw(where he had no suit protection) to snap his neck
I will say, this is a good Death Battle Cast to watch. They go over things and, you learn a lot. Like how they were going to use a car do the killing blow.
Durzo Or the behind the scenes behind the making of the fight
But I think you'd really enjoy it!
love your videos keep up the good work , though this seems generic im not tired enough to write full paragraphs
No spoilers please. I won't get to watch it until tomorrow.
To clarify about Robin, Damien Wayne was basically Robin the Second because Nightwing was in the same story, so there's basically two Robins even within the same canon.
I dunno about Red Hood though, I'm not well versed on DC lore.
The electric finishing punch hit Daredevil in the mouth, the one part of his mouth not protected by the mask
Congratulations of not only breaking a wrong streak but starting a right streak. I was glad Nightwing won but am ashamed to say I thought Dare Devil would so you have been right 3 more times than me.
4:55 also no more circus animal acts. New Jersey became the first state to ban circus animal acts.
16:59 17:30 i agree with you ris along with the rules and animate parts however i think it's going to replaced the scenes like the tattoo part in raven vs twilight sparkle and such.
Nightwing used Thunder-Punch! (24:17)
"i don't hink the electricity had much of an impact" he probably aimed for the side of the jaw (KO-central) so he would have hit exposed skin
Marco Pohl
“He aimed for the uncovered part of the face”
23:20
"what did he learn from scanning him?" me: did you not see the anomaly it picked up? "irregularity in visual cortex." In other words, he learned DD is blind. Also he saw the waves emitteng off DD
I did not see that, hence me asking.
I think Ben said in one of those death battle casts that the majority of the time winner is a factor in who wins
Oh geez, someone told me it was his porn, but I had assumed the commenter was joking xD
@@Ris_Grestar it started as a joke in a q&a stream and then Ben was like that's cannon now
I think two of my questions I have said before.
Hey Ris, I fell on my tailbone hard enough to break it. I can't sit down for too long without it starting to hurt
Oof, ouch. Sorry to hear that :(
@@Ris_Grestar no worries, I have learned to deal with it

I'm on Sonic's side for the 2nd win
Ris, this is not rematch, it's reboot.
I love your videos. Hope you are having a great day.
Thanks, Brady! You too!
It's less more feats, and more new rules, in the old episodes of season 1-2 they didn't use the same feats standards and more intuitive counter based game logic, which isn't always the best. (*cough* Toph vs Gaara) Basically they are redoing it now that they are better as Vs Debate Logic.
dpolaristar Yeah, every fight up to at least Ryu VS Scorpion was based off of interpretations and assumptions
You’re awesome dude
Thanks!
What is a one minute melee you would like to see?
I don't particularly care for OMM.
@@Ris_Grestar Huh thought you would since it has storey.
I'd much rather watch a spinoff where they just analyze characters. I find that part more interesting than the battles.
Capone Ardelean It doesn’t have a good story, but it has A story
What is a fight you would like too see?
Something with a character from Boku no Hero Academia. Where they win.
Ris Grestar
Some of my favorite ideas for mha would be:
Bakugo vs Yang or Captain Falcon
Todoroki vs Aang or Zuko
Momo vs Hermione Granger or Annabeth Chase
Tsuyu vs Spider-Gwen
These are just some of my ideas.
RosekiSommers the thing is: Daredevil is not as purely strong and fast as Spider-Man, plus has way more exploitable weaknesses
Super awareness and the spider sense have some important differences.
You mean tim drake
Hey Ris can you react to their Blooper series by chance
What is a DBX you would like to see?
Same as the other answer.
loved it and two wins awesome ris
To answer your question, wiz and boomstick are gonna appearing in every episodes starting at the 100th episode

Umm daredevil is not actually blind he can actually see but everything is on fire well atleast in the show (I saw it on Netflix
I don't think that's accurate.
timm drake is red robin and Damian is still just robin
It is going to be handdrawn
Sonic is still gonna win with his top speed being well over 5000 MPH
Awesome.
It’s Tim drake

Hmm what could the new rules be.
The current rules. Stuff has been adjusted over time. For instance, power scaling wasn't allowed for goku, but was allowed for optimus prime.

Another garbage DB, DD should have easily won, smh.
maxdrags3 How so?
The simple fact that DD can go toe to toe with Spider-Man says he can, plus they left out the fact that DD has sound dampeners in his mask.
@@maxdrags3115 Watch Death Battle Cast they explained it for you
@@aldrinflores4531 Not necessarily, sure they bring up the fact that DD has sound dampeners and they wouldn't really help, they don't bring up how powerful the blast DD got hit with. The blast DD was hit with was powerful enough to vibrate the copter it was being shot from and he also got hit with a non lethal shotgun blast immediately afterwards. Also, they disregarded the fact that DD's radar sense is actually better than Spiderman's Spidey sense as "Word of God" when it actually has shown multiple times in the comics that Spidey's Spider Sense has been tricked by things that DD's radar sense can see tight through.
