    So miss the train and parade. Lived in Milwaukee til 1972. Remember seeing the train and parade more than once. I did notice no steam calliope. I remember it playing as the train went through town.

      Yes but why is there a diesel coupled to that steamer?

    • @TheLittlered1961
      @TheLittlered1961 7 месяцев назад

      @@mikeingersoll7344 very common today. Whenever a steam engine travels on a main line, it may be required by the owners of the line to have a diesel back up. This is true of even big boy.

    WOW! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
    DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT WE WILL PROBABLY NEVER SEE AGAIN. I saw the train up close and personal when it visited Elkhorn Wisconsin perhaps that same year, or possibly the time before that. I believe it was the early 90's. Saw the parade in Milwaukee around 1994 ish

    So sad to here Ernest Borgnine Pass away yesterday. He played a clown in the Circus World Museum parade in Milwaukee Wisconsin from 1972 to 2002. He brought his movie star power to the parade. He said it was one of his favorite things to be in the parade and love clowning around. He will truly be missed.

    This Train comes from the Circus World Museum and it is headed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a Circus Parade. These Wagons are the real deal that were used in the time Circuses traveled from town to town. The animals were truck in for safety and economics. I would say this was a working circus train because they were going to a job. This Parade is something to see with plenty of animals. Thanks for checking it out.

      This is the picture that I was looking for. My grandfather worked for Fulmer Brothers Transfer, in Baraboo, when I was a kid. He died when I was 7, so this would probably have happened about 1959.
      I remember him taking me through some of the buildings where Ringling Bros had housed the elephants.
      At the time, the Circus World Museum was just starting to put things together and the old elephant barns were used by Fulmer Transfer as a garage for their trucks.
      The crystal clear memory that I carry with me at age 70, was that he showed me the beams up under the roof and explained that they had to pound spikes through boards and then nail the boards onto the beams (spikes pointing out) because they had a couple of elephants who had made it thier mission in life to get ahold of the beams and try to take them out!
      Now I realize, like bored kids and grandkids, the poor elephants were bored silly!😢
      So many negative things have been rained on the circus and it's treatment of animals and performers, but it is a part of our history and stirs vivid memories for many of us.
      Periodically, while we were still living in Wisconsin, we'd see the steam train pulling the Circus Train to Milwaukee for the 4th of July Parade and it always brought fond memories!

    It would then turn them alive and literally do random stuff.
