Did a test on my Mavic 3 It started wanting to land at after 3 pounds but has no problem flying with 1/half pounds.. I use my Mavic 3 for my tree service business.. I hook the baseball & thing through rope, that's about a hundred feet long to fly over the trees & drop it over.. that allows me to tie on my rope to the string pull it through the tree. I can either pull the tree over with the equipment or use it to climb up the tree, amazing what they can do.. I did another little test, one of my workers were using the blower pack it's a Stihl br 800 over 230 mph winds. Had him directly pointed at the drone, I was amazed slightly pushed away the drone but she bounced right back.. so much fun and what a useful tool💯
Guys stop bothering him about the mini 2. It takes a while to edit all the footage in and a while for it to actually get to his house. He made a video saying the mini is coming, If you want to complain then complain on that video.
I would like to see a lot more of the FPV stuff.
I have a Mavic Mini. a Mavic Air, a Mavic Air 2, and Mavic 2 Zoom. Great drones and Dustin should certainly review every DJI product that comes out, but I am just about burned out on new Mavic releases, reviews, and tutorials.
DJI needs to come out with a 150 gram Tello with 3 miles range, Ocusync, GPS, 35 miles per hour, and an option to drop out all GPS and altitude hold with a flip of a switch and go straight into full FPV mode.
He is probably waiting for some nice weather in Hawaii. 🤣
I have these payload airdrops and OMG i love em. Thanks soo much for sharing brother Dustin. Keep up the good work Sir. Big like and thumbs up 👍 from me. Thanks for all you do and please keep flying.
Great review as usual dustin ! Keep em coming ! Cheers buddy
Excellent testing video. Just what I was looking for.
Little late to the party but great video! Lots of useful info and a lot of fun to watch. Thanks, Dustin!
Thank you for the info video!!!. I'm really considering trying Drone fishing, and wanted to see how much these drones can hold weight !!! You rock !!!
Finally someone did this test for fishing ...u just got a new Subscriber🤙🏾
Really having fun watching your videos. Love this reviews. Greetings from the Philippines.
I really love to see this guy making a video about drone great video btw😁😊
This is the test I was looking for!!!, thanks.
Awesome video Dustin. Love your videos cant wait for the mini load capacity. 🤙🏼
i got 2 of them for my mini 1 and mini2 and i started a drone dart league. 50 foot drops and double size dart board. its fun as shit.
Amazing video as always!
Also surprising how much weight the Mavic Air 2 can carry.
Love your video reviews Dustin, always so much fun. I've been thinking about adding the swell pro to the fleet, but now - this drop mechanism is heck of a lot cheaper! I'll have to get myself an Action Man figure lol (GI Joe). Cheers buddy :)
4 ounces = 114 grams, 8 ounces = 228 grams, 16 ounces = 456 grams. You are welcome!
Thx
Thanks man
You must be a drug dealer
Thank you
Thought it was 112/224/448
Interesting review... gets you thinking about possible uses!
I’ve always wondered how they would react to extra weight. Thanks for the video.
Cool demo, thanks Dustin. I can see dropping a cell phone (wrapped in foam) to someone in distress during search and rescue. Or a nice sandwich! LOL
Great ideas 🍻
Amazing vid as always
That was awesome but I was nervous lol...I have just the Bugs 4w 4k and I have bought some feet extenders, but I noticed that when you take off it moves forward then backwards a little bit, I think it's because 1 set is longer and a tiny bit heavier but it still fly's fine. Yeah this was a cool test. Loved it. Cant wait to see your Mini 2 tests. Good Job Dustin 👍👊💯
Great video I have wondered all of what you covered here thanks for sharing your time---John in Texas
Awesome waking up to one of Dustin’s video.
Dustin I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm a new Mavic Air 2 owner. Your vids make me so homesick though. The Jacaranda!!! Makawao boy here.
Your videos are absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations. I'm following you. Thanks for the useful information.
Once again another great video, like the usual😄
Great video with DJI accessories👍👌🙏
Excellent review Dustin!!
Very Interesting. Definitely can carry more bait than you would need. Fun to see the Parra drop 😎
I’ll never be fishing with more than 4 or 5 ounces of weight. I was just looking at these on Amazon. Great video. Thanks.
Cool items & test man👍
Thanks got me one today. Thank Dustin 👍❤
thats cool i can see me using this for taking my lure out and cover more then i can cast from the bank really cool
That’s why I’m here 😂
Fyi, those extensions on the horizontal legs are backwards. The two horizontal extensions just need to be swapped with each other. If you look close at each horizontal leg, there is an indent about half way down. When you put those extensions on there, theres probably a little nub/etc that slides and/or pops into the indent which would then keep the extension in place. Just a thought.
Thanks man I'm ready to start fishing with my drone
Great Review!
Great video, Dustin! Always enjoy your tests.
Hey Dustin, I love your videos
Nice vid. Good drop system. Made one for my Hubsan Pro. Use it to hang those cheap solar garden lights (minus the stake) on
tree branches way up on top. Used as a night geocache find. The oldest one hanging in a tree is 3 years old and still
coming on at night. cheers lance
Great idea for using an air drop 👍
Bro the mini 2?
Really impressive!
wow nice bro..both drones are amazing
Glow sticks and diy parachutes. I would be making all sorts of ufo sightings around town. All I need now is a mavic air 2.
I love your reviews please make more videos on the Mini 2
What a beast the mavic air 2 is!! Wish they would rethink that light sensor setup for it tho
Thanks for sharing my friend.
uncle Escobar will be over the moon ! Nice test 👍
Great review on these drop kits. Wonder how it would react with the weight and a few hundred yards of fishing line when being pulled out over the water. Thanks for sharing.
Great vid! Thanks. Great for amateur radio operators who want to get an antenna wire up high over a tree!
Great Video!
You are just an amazing youtuber
Finally i can let my drone fly and grab my weed, awesome!
Pretty cool kits, I would like to see some “bombing run” videos see how accurate you can drop weights on a target, then try it while moving.
Great video.
Instead of truck-nuts now we have drone-nuts :) ... Great video!!!
Nicee review
Morning dustin, hope your doing well. How long do you reckon until your able to make videos on the new mini 2?
I’m also awaiting a review by Dustin on the new mini 2 before I pull the trigger on one. Would love a comparison between the new and old
I just got my MINI 2 flymore combo this past Friday so I'll have the series going up this week 😁👍
@@DustinDunnill - awesome can’t wait!
I'm waiting too..
Looking very much forward to it
The parachute looked great from the drones view. Cool gadget
that light sensor open close mechanism could be configured with a claw for grabing things? kind of like the vending machine with the claw that can pick up toys?
Are you from poland?
Imagine drug dealers start using drones for deliveries. You'd just see all these fucking keys of coke floating around late at night... Then the police drones show up and they just start crashing into each other hahahah
Hahahaha crazy we could have drone wars instead 😆
Yes, that it possible and has been done already. What's more disturbing to law enforcement is dropping stuff over prison walls/fences.
Very informative. A flag flying demo would be nice.
Hope we get a Mavic 2 range test!
That was awesome i wonder if the mavic pro would out-lift the mavic pro 2🤟
Just want to ask when the announcement of the Fimi X8SE 2020 winner is going to be.
I'm sure I speak for many, when I say that I can't wait for you to do your famous range test for the DJI Mini 2.
Yeah very surprised it's not been out yet
I do know for a fax if you get to that 10% long enough that the motors will shutdown in the air. On the parashoot I would cut a small in the center of it. That way it wouldn’t drift as much. Just saying. Great video on the Mavic. And good info. Thanks
Never had my Mini or M2 shut off when batteries reached 10% or less... ever!
Considering that those drones are lighter than the Phantom I’m impressed.
try another battery and get it to sport mode. mavic 2 could lift till it's own weight (900g max), steady holding and carrying about half of this (about 400-500g max). for water rescue you can get special probes (which works for let say 10-20m water depth), which activate under water, so you can rescue your drone.
Fantasy review Dustin. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Dustin, Hey I have a couple question's regarding the mavic-2 Pro/ Zoom. Myself I own and fly the Mavic-2 Zoom. Currently I have logged just under 20-hours of actual flight time, and have traveled a distance of 690,000 Ft. so I'm wondering if you or any of your viewers have any idea how many hours these engines are good for? To date my Mavic-2 flies well with no issues at all. I would greatly appreciate any feed back on this subject.
I wouldn't worry about the life as long as you haven't flown in hard rain or crashed. Brushless motors last a very very long time unless there is an event to alter them. Also the drone software is getting to the point where the app will most likely throw up an error and not let you fly if there was an issue and needs replacement 🍻

Hey Dustin, I lost my mavic air2 on a ledge of a building window. My plan is to try and retrieve it but I’m still working on the kinks. I believe my rescue drone of choice will be Mavic Air 1.
If i can somehow get the thing off the ledge, what is likely to happen? Sinking out of control mavics or steady controlled drop? I only ask because there is no other way to get it back other than waiting on window washers and they come to building annually (which isn’t scheduled again until Aug 2022).
I'd try to hook it with a drone that can carry the weight. Have a drop release ready just in case so it doesn't take the rescue drone down might be a good idea 🍻
@@DustinDunnill I think I'm going to practice with the air in the park with the equal weight of the drone to see if it's possible. Going to put the mav clone model on the bench and try for it. May get the release kit though at some point. Thanks again
@@jonWilk8156 I just got my Mavic Air stuck, 75' up, in my brother's tree. I'm waiting for my Mavic 2 zoom to arrive and use it for the rescue. We plan on using tape to hold fishing line and sinker to the bottom of the drone, we already tested this and it works, with an 8 oz sinker. When I get over the Mavic Air we pull on the line, which will pull the tape loose and the sinker will drop, to the side of the branch, and then we will try to shake it loose. Hope this makes sense.
Update: Sucess. After seven attempts and we decided the eighth would be the last. Having got three sinkers and fishing line hung up in the tree we attached a small tennis ball to the end of the line. I flew the drone, 10 feet, over the branch where my Mavic Air landed and my brother pulled on the line and it dropped just above the drone on the branch. He then lowered the ball to the ground. We attached a 1/4" x 200' rope to the fishing line and pulled that through the branches and over the branch the drone was on. After getting the one end of the rope where we could grab it we pulled on both ends a couple of times and to our surprise, the drone came off the branch, did some cart wheels, hit a couple of branch on the way down and did a perfect landing, on a tarp we rigged to catch the drone. The drone had gone through a couple of heavy rains, snow and freezing temperatures. We put a fresh battery in and it flew perfectly. One of the props got a little bent and was clicking on the drone. We bent it back and that was it. My brother loves his new drone!
I’m very proud of my first baby Mavic Air 2 😊😊😊
So it will be good with a water balloon
I'm not putting another drop system on a drone, after I put one on my p3a and it had a flyaway. The metal from the drop system interfered with the compass and I eventually found it in one piece, thank goodness
we use P3A with drop systems for fishing all the time with no compass errors ever
Really cool, thanks for doing this. been wondering about the drop system for the ma2 for awhile now. be cool to have even though I don't fish. I was really surprised how well the ma2 did, thought the pro2 would show it what for, but they're really close.
That was cool!
Will there be a mini 2 range test coming soon? :)
Cool story bro 👍
Do you think the travel height and distance is affected by the payload? I wonder if I could deliver a pizza with box which would be about 400 grams to friends in the near area, let's say 1-2 kilometers and needed height will be about 50 meters max.
Only you could do something like that but that was a great test and video👍😎🚁🚤
How far you can drop when you are using the front light sensor? Seem to be not far, it is about 200m, i am not sure about this, thank you.
I can't really get if the leg extenders are just too get ground clearance for the light sensor on the Air 2. Why is the light sensor so big and bulky?
Cool 😎
Nice video.... Question for you. I have already the Mavic 2 pro and I
want to get another drone , which one would you choose between the Mini 2
or the Air 2 ? and why ?
If you have the money, Air 2 for sure. I have both but the added features of the Air 2 makes it all worth it.
I’d say air 2.
Mini 3 Pro all day long
@Bushman Photos you are kind of late ..:)))Now i am waiting for the Air 3 even better than the Mini 3 pro..FYI.
How about try getting an air drop mechanism for the DJI Mavic Mini?
Great interesting
Need to consider the length of fishing line weight based on what type of line. The wind and drag on the lore the line and etc. Lots to consider if you don't wanna lose your drone.
We use DJI drones for fishing all the time and you're spot on. Also the further out you go then eventually the line starts to drag in the water. Also with boat reels you have to pull against drag. As you say it gets complicated real fast but we do it daily that the weather allows.
Are you using the payload setting? I have the same drop kit on my mini 2 and sometimes even with just the drop it will trigger the propellers rotating too fast error. Then I just reset it and it goes away
you have this model with the led light sensor ? or that cheap remote ?
if you do have this one how did you mod it to fit the mini 2 ?
@@kylelandor7825 I didn’t buy the newest drone because I don’t fly much and flying around recording and taking pics isnt fun for me so that’s why I want to use the drop unit. I have the Mini 2 with the remote it comes with. Not sure what the remote has to do with the error but once I use the payload option the error doesn’t come back so I guess I figured it out. My Spark can carry the weight just fine and I’m not sure why they removed the active tracking and obstacle avoidance from the drones after the spark but I almost bought the Pro but I’m more into my car than the drone.
This has given me an idea.....
Thinking of dropping my own shit on random pigeons, get my own back... See how they like it! 😂😂
Hey Dustin, could u tell me where to buy the Magic Air 2 u had in your video? I bought from Amazon the other day and it arrived, but it’s definitely not the one u own. Help me out bro?
Its because the mavic air 2 and the magic air 2 are not the same.
Did you happen to check how warm the motors were? especially on the Mavic2 Pro
A bit warmer but not hot enough to be worried about I think.
Is very interesting concept ..nice
Dustin, one important thing that you will need to compensate for is the drag and weight of your fishing line. I will hazard to guess that the most weight of the bait you can safely carry with the Mavic Air 2 would be 8 oz. if you are fishing.
Good point. If you have your reel loose and it starts to dispense line, I've found it's not much drag as long as it keeps spinning at a steady pace while you fly out 🍻
@@DustinDunnill I was just looking at a 300 yard spool of 20lb. test at 2lb,3oz.
Yes that would get sketchy 😂
About how far can it go out? I just bought a drone and was gonna get the drop device , but I like shark fishing and was gonna get this to avoid kayaking my line out but idk how far it goes and will still be able to drop it
probably about a kilometer. The optic drop system works out as far as the drone would normally work. We use Phantoms for shark fishing all the time.
Cool! D1 & D2 bombers! This could lead to some interesting egg drop competitions. Jess
Here in Seattle I would think about 4oz weight with bait and it wouldnt be too bad..
I need ur help. I got a mavic air 2v and u got zebra lines. Black n white stripes plus it doesn't land on the H or even near it. Can u please help me figure this out? I'm a beginner.
Hi Dustin, ALOHA from the Big island. Watch your videos all the time and I've been waiting for this one for months. I have a magic air (original) and have been trying to us it for fishing but been limited to the weight (bait) it can carry. Been on the market for my second bird. I've been eyeing the magic pro 2 thinking the bigger motors equals bigger bait. But from your test looks like not must more
Sorry ended that message early, hit the wrong button.
Questions: how would the old phantom birds compare? Do they have more carrying power? What about the splash drone, compare to bait carrying power?
Mahalo
Splash drone would carry the most as it's made for stuff like fishing with big bait. 🍻
@@DustinDunnill my son asked me about checking out the gannet fishing drones? Do you have any suggestions on that?
Uncertain of that brand. I've only seen demo videos on their drone from the Gannet company themselves. Usually this means there are issues, they are not selling or giving any demos to reviewers which could both mean there are issues they'd rather the public not see. That said, I'd love to test one of them out to see how it really performs. Maybe they are listening 😂🍻
@@DustinDunnill okay you've convinced me to go the splash drone route. Now the question is where's the best way/price to get one? Only need the one for fishing but I like the fly more package with the extra batteries. Have any suggestions on where can I get the best deal?
For the Mini2 - its new front light is switchable from the controller settings menu.
Good candidate for this type of air drop then 👍
Very happy about this video.I was waiting for this weight test and drop test video for a long time. And don't keep bothering him about the mavic mini 2 series. He said in that giveaway video that mavic mini 2 is on the way.So please wait some time and mavic mini 2 series videos will be there on youtube in some time.Thank you Dustin.
I hope to really in that giveaway. These Airdrop are cool. Are they available for the Fimi?
