    I’m from the extreme north of the Philippines and this food is so precious. The council of elders in our place are regulating the consumption of these delicious palms so it would not disappear in the future.

    In Sri Lanka this is one of the most favorite foods of Elephants......... they take it out very skillfully ....

    Mark, here in Brazil we call 'palmito' and it is a traditional food here, but culturally consumed by natives of the Amazon, also consumed with honey as a sweet

    To be honest, I didn't like you the first time I watched, but I found myself coming back time after time for MORE! More learning, more experiencing thru you, more happiness from your infectious enthusiasm. Now I can't get enough and am always surprised at all the places you've been. And love the "Wow" especially when those around you start saying it!!! Lol! That needs to go on a tee shirt!     palm hearts are one of my favourite foods. I grow them and there is nothing fresher and more delicious than fresh palm hearts. but I only get a few every year.

      *You can get similar product from a banana tree...they usually discard the trees after harvesting the bananas...and the other hand...palm trees like in the video are becoming and endangered specie...and take years to grow...*

He is exactly like shown in the Video, so kind and full of knowledge that he openly shares with everyone, like his open heart. I’m so happy to see that his idea with his open eco farm worked out… I really recommend to everyone to take the chance and meet him at his Farm.     This is unique. In southern India, the leaves of this palm are fed to the domesticated elephants and it is called elephant palm. Never knew the tree also was edible. Amazing vlog. #chompingchampion

    Hey Mark, I’m Hmong and this plant is something my people ate when they were fleeing from persecution in Laos and made their journey to Thailand. Really, we were eating anything and everything that is edible.

    You are so lucky to experienced this ... We used to buy the palm meat but I didn’t realized where they come from ...This is so good to eat sautée with onion , garlic serves as the meat of an egg roll with lettuce and peanut sauce 👍👍👍

    Wow. In Sri Lanka we call it the Kithul tree. Ofcourse it is favorite tree of elephants.

      Kithul is used to make for treacle syrup. But in South India like Mangalore, it is used to make sweet flat Jaggery or Gur rich in iron n vitamins.

    Grandparents tell us that during his 1972-73 they used to eat fishtail Palm tree.. But last year 2020 due to lockdown people try to cook again its really tasty..

    In Mizoram (North-East India), we have different types of these palms, some is small and some is that type of big.Amongst all those types of palms, I love the most is what you just ate and second is beetle nut tree (what we used to eat only the middle section of the top part), it has also a good texture.
    However that fishtail palm tree(leaf) was used to celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ when he went to Jerusalem with shout out loud Hossana.

    When I was a kid I used to look for sprouted coconut with one small leaf at least. Before they got open to extract the copra I would cut the little sprout and eat the sweet heart and the little apple sponge inside the coconut. Ahhh those days😌😌
